Battery Wagner Site - Morris Island 7-18-18 Part Two

Visited Morris Island on the 155th anniversary of the Battle of Battery Wagner where soldiers of the 54th of Massachusetts, the first black regiment of the Union, gave their lives in the storming of the dune fort.
My wife and I were as close to the original site as possible, given that the location of Battery Wagner and the mass grave containing the remains of Col. Shaw and the 54th, would now be under water, just off the shoreline.
It truly felt like we were on holy ground.
