    Very informative video.I could see where and how to replace the lines and in what order.i wasn't sure how to replace the fuel line conectors,and replayed the video and saw that the line conectors pastic clips had to be in the up position before pushinng them onto the filter and then pushed down to fasten them to the fiter.thank you so much!

    Why didn't you depressurize fuel system? Very easy to do, and you won't get sprayed like that, still some fuel, but not near as dangerous as what you did. Just pull fuel pump fuse, (no. 12) in under-hood fuse box, run car till it stops, try to restart a couple times, replace filter, reinsert fuse, start car check for leaks, your done!

      @JoyDivision1976 the fuel is coming from the gas tank so even if u run engine until it stop fuel is still in the tank. What your talking about is clearing the fuel pump of fuel.

The two in the back were balls because there’s hardly room and they’re practically on top of one another. • @DaveMedicus

      Yes it would I just never did it. Normally if the car hasn't been started there is almost zero pressure. I had just moved my car and did not think the pressure would be strong for some reason. I believe its fuse number 12.

    Dave, I have a 2014 Ford Focus SE 2.0 and I cannot find any where that shows how I can instructions on how to replace my fuel filter. Only that my fuel filter is part of my fuse pump and I need to replace the fuel pump. Do you know if this is true and show I just take it to a shop? I already changed out my upper O2 sensor, but my check engine light is still on. My car sputters right after I gas up. Like I said my check engine light is still on, which said that my upper O2 sensor was bad. I have the lower O2 sensor which I am going to change out too. I know a lot to ask but do you have any ideas.

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  Před 4 měsíci

      Most of the newer ones are inside the tank attached to the fuel pump. They don't need changed until the pump burns up. A lot of the vehicles have an access panel that you can access the pump without removing the tank. Thanks for watching!

    I bought the Car quest filter that came with 4 clips, 2 different sizes. The ones on the filter before taking it off, broke. Is there only 1 way to put the clips back in??? My gas didn't spray out like yours did, it just dripped a little and I loosened the gas tank cap is all. When I had the old filter out I too turned it over and all there was was very brown gas! Dirt!

    • @DaveMedicus

      Yes in my case. If its super backed up it will cause some hesitation. If it is a rough hesitation you probably have other issues. Just a FYI----I have a 2007 Focus, and it doesn't have a separate replaceable fuel filter. Instead it has what is called a "lifetime" filter that is part of the fuel pump assembly. Does anyone know what specific years Ford used this "lifetime" fuel filter?

    • @coolbema
      @coolbema Před 6 lety +1

      it depends what engine it comes in. European version ford focus 1.6L from 05-11 have builtin fuel pump filter cannot be replaced, while 1.8/2.0L Duratec HE engines (european version) have inline fuel filters. Im not sure about US versions but i have seen videos they have ford focus with minimum 2.0L displacement engines with inline fuel filters upto 2009.

    • @DaveMedicus
      @DaveMedicus  Před 3 lety

      Inline in my opinion are better. I have seen way too many pumps burn out with the inline filter gets clogged. It might be extra parts but its peace of mind. You can also change a lot of the "lifetime" filters by removing the fuel pump. I believe the ones that are set up this way have access under the rear seat for the pump. Thats just a guess from what I have seen.

      @@james1234108 Okay this is a shot in the dark but I had it happen to my car and it just clicked into my head that it could be your problem. Check under your hood. There is an EGR tube that runs from the exhaust down the side of the engine between the battery to the back. Mine had a hole in in that actually melted the positive battery cable. This leak gave me a fuel smell. I have a video of that change if you need to see it visually. I hope that helps.
