    Just what i needed to find out the name of the tiny pop connector on the pcb. I feel much more confident buying an adapter now. Thank you for a very clear presentation with no waffle or loud music.

    Sooo after nearly a year of flying and breaking various things I’m now hear for obvious reasons! 😆😅
    I want to thank you for such a constant high end content 🤝
    Broke chimera 5lr Ant - it’s a right angle mmcx, I’ve got a chimera 4lr with the same Ant but the mmcx is straight with a knurled bit in it, I knew ( was 80 % sure tbh 😅 ) they were both mmcx but 1: didn’t know if they were swappable & 2 didn’t have an effin clue how to detach them so was obviously concerned about just pulling on em!
    You saved me mate 😃 absolutely bloody brilliant 👍 the fact you had BOTH connectors to show was perfect 👌

    Thank you...very helpful! Thought the pin broke inside my quads connector. But after watching your video I realize my quad is using an 'RP SMA' and not a 'SMA'. Really saved me some headache so thank you! Keep up the great work...know this is an older video but still very relevant!

    Hi, can the vtx touch the carbon frame its a 1s walksnail and I'm pretty sure that ,could be heat sink largest silver square on the vtx is hitting the frame. ATM just a mock up ..thank you for your time and videos.

    • @WhirlyBloke
      @WhirlyBloke  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching and reaching out with your question. It's generally not recommended to have the VTX touch the carbon frame directly, as it could potentially cause interference or affect performance. Ideally, you want to ensure some insulation between the VTX and the frame. If you see the VTX is hitting the frame, it's a good idea to make some adjustments to prevent any unwanted contact. Happy flying!

    I think I broke the vtx antenna on my quad, Im brand new to fpv so im not sure what every wire is yet. This wire wasnt in a connector like these but instead was placed directly on the board. It was the wire that gave signal from the camera to my googles. I bought the eachine novice 2, and just need a little help trying to fix it

    Do you use any single power when using a UFL to SMA adaptor ?

    • @WhirlyBloke
      @WhirlyBloke  Před rokem

      Yes, when using a UFL to SMA adapter, you would typically use a single power source for your FPV drone or quad. The UFL (also known as IPX) connector is commonly used for connecting the antenna to the video transmitter (VTX) on FPV drones. The UFL connector is typically found on the VTX side, and it is designed for low-power connections.
      To connect the UFL connector to an SMA connector, which is the standard connector used on most FPV antennas, you would need to use a UFL to SMA adapter. This adapter allows you to convert the UFL connection on the VTX to an SMA connection, which is compatible with most antennas.
      The power for the VTX and the antenna is typically provided by a single power source, such as a battery or power distribution board on the drone. So, when using a UFL to SMA adapter, you would not need to use a separate power source for the adapter itself. The power for the VTX and the antenna will flow through the adapter to ensure proper signal transmission and reception.

    Nice informative video on the connectors, could you give us some info about the coax cables used in each antena. They all seem to be quite different in size, diameter, etc... Can you match any of those connectors to any size cable, or do the connectors come in different specific sizes on the side where they connect to the cable, so that they must be paired with the right size coax cable ? The not so obvious example taken from your antennas in your video are the two straight sma connectors : one connects to the large diameter blue coax cable and seems quite beefy at the area where the heatshrink is, while the other sma connector, which connects to the slightly slimmer gray coax cable, also seems to be much slimmer at its heatshrink area. Does this mean these two sma connectors have different sized cable ends? Ty

    I think you gave some misinformation about sma connectors. Male or female isnt determined by the pin but by the threads. If the connector has the thing you can turn then it is a male.

  • @isick357
    @isick357 Před 4 lety

    Hi, I recently got gifted the emax ez pilot drone kit. The kit includes a drone, a transmitter, and fpv goggles. The drone has a dipole antenna. The fpv goggles have two female sma connectors and included with the kit there is only one dipole antenna, so i was wondering if it was cool if I got another antenna for the goggles, and if it would matter if the antenna would be dipole, lolipop , or cloverleaf.

    • @WhirlyBloke
      @WhirlyBloke  Před 4 lety +1

      If you can, try to put matching antennas on the drone and goggles, but if you can't change the one on the drone, you can use a lollipop or similar on the goggles. Always try a range test in a known area first.
