    Found this nice 12 volt charger for my pc. Just make a search on ebay or amazon for "car charger and your pc brand", and you should find one for your pc as well.

    For all of you. Read what is written on label on bottom of the laptop. If label says 19V and 2.2A then means it can be charged with output of 19V (must be the same - not more, not less), and 2.2A (the same or above, not less).

    I'm about to build one for my 19.5v laptop. It is laughingly super simple, I just need to buy 200W Boost converter, with output voltage adjustable using mini potentiometer, so basically ANY laptop's different voltage (12, 19, 19.5, 20v) can be catered. The input voltage range is between 10-32V. You can just search the boost converter module in online markets (aliexpress, ebay etc). Yes, it is not a ready product, you need to build a box and add cables but it isreally so simple, probably a 1-3 hours of weekend project.

    Simple old school = more reliable
    12 to 19v is way more efficient.
    You can also use new PD usbc 20v but more of hit miss and more complex delicate cable. Most PD plugs don't seem to boost from 12v to 20v.
    If you read fine print, they need 24v to do 20v seems like they are buck only.

    Universal charger for many laptops? 18.5V ( if laptop requires 20 it will still charge ) and universal amperage 4.5. It is somewhere between 83 and 85W and completely doesn't matter if your laptop requires more or less, it takes how much it needs of course if it is not a gaming laptop and your need is not to game on it while charging, you are completely good to go without any harm or damage. You can still charge a gaming laptop but can't game on it while charging because the voltage will drop due to CC methode and laptop will stop charging. It's not a bad idea but the most worst idea is using buck/boost converter in a 24V system. If you plug a laptop first and then 24V, there is a big big very big chance that the buck/boost converter will pass through 24V for a short time ( each chinesse brands are different ) and you can potentially burn a charging IC logics. For 12V is completely safe, if a converter pass through 12V nothing will happen. For 24V system, plug a converter first, then a laptop and for the extra more safetyness, you can add a volt meter to be 100% sure that the converter outputs exactly what you've set it at.

      The output is only powered up when the controller decides to do so. There should be no problem leaving the device plugged in.

    You seem like the right person to ask I'm setting up a solar setup for camping without much experience. I have bought an dc to ac inverter similar to the one you have in the video. On the instruction manual it says that the inverter needs to be grounded but I see you're running yours without a ground maybe? I think I might return the dc to ac inverter and just get a charger like the one you mention if that's the case. It would be handy though to run ac while camping.

    • @Italjohn

    Laptop computers runs on 5vdc. inside there is an electronic circuit inside that takes the input voltage and converts it to 5vdc. If you plug a laptop directly into a cigarette lighter with the correct polarity to the computer, that built in circuit will change the 13.8 vdc from your cigarette lighter to 5vdc. You do not need a converter to change 12vdc to 115vac and then plug inverter to change the 115vac to 5vdc for your laptop.

    • @emkcams
      @emkcams Před 10 měsíci

      Digital circuitry runs on 5 volts DC. Whatever the battery puts out, if it isn't 5 volts, it is converted to 5vdc. What the battery requires as an input to charge depends on the battery technology used.

    Hei, bra info.
    Jeg lurer på en ting.
    Det at den bør lade maks styrke opptil 80% og så lavere opptil ca 95% og så puls-lade, ligger det i laderen eller er det i laptopen?
    Tenker på at hvis man lar den lade i 10 timer, vil det kunne ødelegge batteriet?

    • @Italjohn
      @Italjohn  Před 2 lety

      Hi Travis. It will drain your battery some how. With a 2,3A drawn from a let's say 80Ah battery in good conditiion, it should last approx 30 hours. But then again a standard lead acid battery should never be discharged below 50%, so a more realistic charge should be 15 hours.
