Duran are just fabulous live. If there was a song I wasn't connecting with, I'd watch them play it live and totally fall in love with it.
Same. I was not feeling Pressure Off at first, but then I saw them do it live (with Nile joining them onstage) and I fell in love with it.
"Careless" has always been one of their most powerful songs live. Don't know if you've done this already, but I strongly recommend watching the documentary of the '84 tour, "Sing Blue Silver". Enjoy!

I agree 80s front men like Simon Le Bon, Michael Hutchence, Bono , Freddy Mercury, Bon Scott are rare now find a male in 2022 who can compare to these 80s icons Answer NONE.

And that was my first concert as a teenager back in 84 and still love Duran Duran!
Oh so lucky 2 see them i the 80s
They were the biggest band in the world when this video was shot! From 1982 to early 1985 to be exact.
That was a crap-ton of sweat dripping from Simon's hair. Not even kidding. These guys gave 200% this performance and whole tour back in 1984. Plus they knew the show was being filmed, so they dialed it to 11 for sure.

This has always been one of my fave Duran performances! They really do give it 200% live and this is one of the songs that really shows that. So, I'm super glad it lived up to the hype for you! ❤
Watching this today also made me a bit sad, though, as when Duran got inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fan this month, we learned that ex-guitarist Andy Taylor currently is very ill with Stage 4 prostate cancer, so he'll probably not be with us much longer. 😢😢

Omg. These guys were so sexy back in the day. I had a HUGE crush on the drummer. Duran Duran and Culture Club had to have been my favorites back in the 80's. My favorite Duran Duran song I think, would be Save a Prayer. But "The Reflex" and "Wild Boys" are right up there

This is definitely my favorite of their live songs. Like you said, so much energy plus you really get some rock guitar from Andy. What more could I want in a performance? I’m glad you loved it!

OMG I am so happy you did this finally!!!!!!I It's the best version ever and is on constant repeat. John on Bass and Simon's vocals are incredible on here, actually the whole band and back singers shine through!!! Also one of my favorite songs!!!! As for Simon's hair, this was at the end of the concert and they were sweating like pigs (not to mention it was during their coke infested days too... And we all know how much Whitney sweated with that, lol)

Great performance video. Great song. Question: Is the video for The Reflex part of this show? Looks like the same stage. Hope someone knows the answer.
It was filmed on the same tour, but not at the same show. This video (and the whole 'As The Lights Go Down' concert video) was mostly filmed in Oakland, California, whereas 'The Reflex' was filmed in Toronto, Ontario earlier that year on the tour (comprised of some 'staged' visuals + concert footage from that day). 😀

Such an incredible performance. This entire concert film is amazing. I can highly recommend Girls on Film as well as The Chauffeur. Of course through the years there are a ton of great performances that come to my mind. Two that I really love are for songs that I don’t think you’ve reacted to or heard yet, so I have the same pickle as with INXS. Do you watch these live performances first, or would you rather do the audio for each song. You’ll decide I’m sure, but here are the two live versions.

Also, hehe.. as long as we’re on the subject of live performances, I’ve been trying to introduce you to Cheap Trick for a while now. I don’t know if you have any familiarity with them, they have been around since the mid 70s. They have a ton of amazing live performances, and some folks might want you to check out studio or older stuff first. Hopefully someday tho, you can get to this performance. One of my favorite songs, live and has a surprise guest, you might know. Keep it on your list!

My 14 year-old self still gets all shivery over Simon in this video! Still one of their best live performances. You really should check out some of their acoustic performances like czcams.com/video/CavsHIojQs0/video.html (as well as Take That’s)
I remember watching this acoustic performance with Andy Taylor and Simon Le Bon on TV. They were in Seattle, Washington and at a local TV station and ABC affiliate called KOMO Channel 4 on a locally broadcast TV show called Northwest Afternoon. DD were on tour supporting their album Astronaut in 2005. Andy Taylor, Roger Taylor and John Taylor reunited with Nick Rhodes and Simon Le Bon to re-form Duran Duran's original line-up in (2001). The last time the five were together was in 1985.
@@billw715 I was lucky enough to see the Astronaut tour three times. My parents always thought I was too young to see them before, so it was the first time I had seen them as the OG lineup and it is still my favorite tour I've ever got to see. Unfortunately, Andy's father passed during that tour, so I missed him on one of those dates, but it was still worth it.
