I see sooooooooo many ppl struggle to coolant bleeding. Just invest in a vacuum bleeder. It takes all the air out aka (puts it in a vacuum) then u take the air off of it and u can check it to see if the pressure is dropping. Then by the flip of a switch u replace the whole system with coolant.
Yeah once you use one of those you never want to struggle filling a coolant system the old way again. It's a small investment in saving time and frustration.
For us cheap bastards, a bleeder funnel is an okay middle ground
basically puts the fill point higher
YFN_ MARI it’s literally not worth your time to bleed the old fashioned way. These vacuum setups are pretty cheap now too.

Yea but he can't get any content from it since it's already done unless he drifts or engine swaps which both cost money. If he sells or gives away it'll give him more funds towards his fummins build.
Taylor, if you do actually read this, please get a bleeding funnel!! It fits on the radiator cap and had extensions to allow you to raise it to make it the highest point, also they're usually not too expensive
Definitely should take out the FC And try your hardest to break it. 😜

It's cool seeing this thing running I used to follow the owner of this car and he struggled so much to get it to go. When he finally gave up I was bummed but glad it went to someone I can see actually finish it👍👍

It was fine. It wouldn't come apart so there wasn't any danger. Plus he was never going very fast. I bet it still flexes half that much when it's fully tight

Pour coolant into the top coolant hose to get the coolant into the engine before filling it so the thermostat will open

Might I recommend drilling out the holes a little larger in the radiator brackets and putting a rubber grommet in there?
Also, I'm super impressed with the amount of work you knock out in a single episode/day. You have a crazy amount of drive.
For a guy who’s all about neat and helpful tools, I am shocked you don’t have multiple funnel bucket kits laying around for easy cooling system fill-ups and bleeding. Definitely a cheap and worthwhile investment!

Congratulations on getting the FC to sketchy complete status! You've really turned your Miata into your trademark expo and comp car until you build a Pro Am car, so if you want to get rowdy I suggest bringing the FC. If you can figure out how to juggle two, bring two. Juggle trailers, borrow a truck for the enclosed, see if Adam is having his stacker head that way or whatever. It'll be worth it. This gives you an excuse to thrash and finish the FC in time, and the event would be amazing test and tune - but it will probably break at some point because it's completely untested. Also, if your old 350Z is going to be at that event, make sure you show off the car you traded it for hands down!
OMG people get so tired of listening to me go on about my Knipex Cobras lol... It is so validating to see you love them as much as i do. BEST tool ive bought, they have gotten me outta so many jams.
Great work Taylor! I love seeing this car completed and not abandoned. Just finish the rx7 and take it full send to the event. And take the instagram tag off the door, people could think it's yours.

It make me feel better when I see Taylor make simple mistakes like , get stuck in the car on the lift or drive with the hand brake up , I’m glad I’m not the only one 😂
Hey Taylor a really good solution for the power steering is you can run a MRS rack which is electronic so you can run it to a switch and have power steering when the car is on or off. If you read this I hope it helps

Some of that rear end movement is from rear steering im pretty sure. This cars came with a poor man rear steering that was done with sub frame bushings. They usually rot out and it goes sloppy. For drifting it would be very beneficial to put solid bushing and obviously fix the arms😬. So excited to see this thing driving
Duplicolor engine paint sprays nice and dries fast, I started to use it for a lot of non-engine stuff.
Really glad to see you stuck with this build, its gonna rip.

Hey, Taylor! There is this stuff called lizard skin it's for the inside of the vehicle. Its a spray on application Turbo Tom used it in his ls Miata I think it would be perfect for the inside of this rx7 with road nose heat soaking through the floor and aesthetics. Give it a look! :)

Best pliers I've used are the snap on channel locks. you could do a pull up on a rounded bolt with them if needed. haha

Love the vids. For the radiator brackets, drill the radiator side holes bigger and put in some rubber grommets. The aluminum stubs on the radiator will love you for it. Ask me how I know.
Doesn't the lax have coolant ports that are on the heads that you can use to pull the coolant higher

Get a steering wheel without a dish will help the wheel situation if you still feel close but the legs are fine

Alright try a 45 degree bend coupler on the intake tube. If it’s just that the engine got raised up a tad bit and that’s why the intake doesn’t fit than that 45 degree bend should. Make that intake tube fit under the hood.
Also the way you were working the channel locks is backwards. Might have been because access. But FYI: the other way works as a lever so you don’t have to squeeze as hard (most times not at all just turn)

Order a power steering pulley off a Holden vf Ss commodore. There like $50 with pulley and everything and gives u proper wrap around on the bottom pulley to avoid slipping

Idk if your FC CAME with it
but I bet if u delete the rear steer
The rear end wont play as much every time your turning or in transition
most Rx7’s came with a rear steer subframe for better handling on track
Kinda like the hicus on skylines but without the rear steering rack
You may need to delete the rear steering for better improvements in drift
Basically your going to want soild bushings to replace the rear steering bushings so that it won’t flex in and out every time your turning

Haha those pliers are great but the teeth are designed to bite into the metal when they're rotated in the other direction so you'll have even better results holding them the other way.
Slam the FC together and take it! Obviously if you don't finish it then the Miata can be your back up, but it would be sick to watch you drive full tilt since the car isn't as pretty as the Miata.
just take the intake off and go to your band saw and cut in down about 3 inch to get the filter on and still clear the hood
The dash out of an NB fits almost perfect in the Rx7, my brother has a 383 swapped Rx7 fc with an NB dash

Shouldnt the belt go all the way around the crank pulley and water pump and not just part of them? Maybe you're spinning the water pump the wrong way too
You know you have to take the fc. Some dtss eliminators rack spacers and coilovers itll be mint
Taylor, fix the rear end dude! This thing is fun x 1000. Coilovers and few more issues, it would be a gas to take to the three day event.

Rustoleum Texture black dries in like 10 minutes, and is super durable.
Cleetus has his own cam with texas speed it's a pretty choppy cam and would be a great addition to the rx7

FC’s have passive steering in the rear end but should only turn a couple degrees at high G

As much as we all want to see you drive the rx7 there's so much to be ironed out I'd hate for your whole time there be fixing things. I hope I speak for everyone I could never get enough of you driving your miata! I think you'd have a better time with it.
Those cobra pliars work a fuck ton better when you use them in the correct orientation, which you were not.

I like it. Spend the 30 minutes and make a burp tank for it. Tiny compared to the giant one in the Miata and works like magic for bleeding. The one in my FC is a fill point and bleeds.
