This video features one of Dejana Industries oldest trucks, a former Long Island Carting Mack LE / Leach 2R-II. Long Island Carting does demolition waste and packer truck service across Long Island as well as Brooklyn and Queens. After being retired from this grueling work, this truck lives on and does heavy manual trash in Port Washington.
I love the older style leaches, and the growling Mack LE added to the classic feel of this old beast, which is probably around 30 years old. It is amazing that it is still running strong to this day.
A huge thank you goes to the incredibly hard working crew, whose speedy loading made up for the slower packer. Although the cycle time was very slow, Leach's massive hopper made it easy for it to keep up with the steady stream of garbage loaded into the hopper. The diligent workers not only picked up all spilled garbage, they put every single can back in each house's driveway instead of the being slid across the street and left knocked over which I am used to seeing. This is definitely a tough route, so kudos to the crew for getting it done so efficiently.
This was my first time filming with my new tripod, comment what you think! I think it came out to be a very entertaining video, and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did filming it.
