Returning to Empire Larp | Packing & Tent Dressing

- I thought it might be interesting (maybe??) to record the experience of stuffing as much kit as possible into a car, and then turning it all into an 'in-character' tent in the field at Empire, a larp game run by Profound Decisions...
...so this is my somewhat haphazard attempt at doing so! There are a few bits in the car that were used in group areas which I didn't remember to photograph, sorry!

It's always great to see the setup others have! Thanks for sharing!
I could listen to you narrate things all day! I came across this LARP group recently and am trying to figure out how to get there from Spain. Might have to wait a year tho. Fingers crossed. It looks like so much fun!
I'd love to see a tour of Anvil's tent dressings as a video!
This is great! My friend was just asking why I wanted to upgrade from a chevy sedan to a subaru wagon
Awesome video! I definitely will be sharing this channel there's not a lot of larp related content creators on here so every one of them is awesome thanks for the video!
i love this video! i have been really struggling with packing space vs set dressing and i think you have done a great job striking a balance.
looking forword to possible other IC spaces and others approaches to easy set dress :)
Thank you so much!
Lordy your ready for a year or two. I take it this is Viking age? Good thing you had a boat
It looks great. As a ‘long hunter’ I’m usually a little lighter, but have filled my car more then once for a weekend😊
Hiya! Empire isn't a specific historical setting - it's live action rolepaying (larp) rather than historical re-enactment, and this particular larp has a fantasy setting that draws on an assortment of influences!
The Empire our characters are part of is made up of ten culturally distinct nations, and the events we attend represent meetings of people from all nations at a regular site called 'Anvil'.
The group I play with has a large marquee tent which would be ridiculous to carry around with us all the time, so we've always said that we store some of our Anvil kit with a local farmer. As much as we're playing characters from a nation of pragmatic, partially nomadic people, the setting does include the concept of carts - and Anvil itself is supposed to be part festival, so we often play up to the idea that it's an opportunity for us to enjoy a few luxuries! :)

@@GiddyMinnow well, love your camp👍
Someone on the Marcher discord linked me this video, and I've just seen your new one with the mini banners! As a new empire player (first event will be E2), this sort of stuff is great to watch, as not many people talk about it 😁 also, I'm currently learning to drive, so I have some time to practice my tetris boot skills 😆
Thank you! I'm really chuffed by the response to this video, and it's got me wondering what other new player friendly stuff I might be able to talk about :)
Good luck with the driving - and the boot tetris! :D
Setup looks great! Can you share about your lamps they looked so neat!
Thank you! :)
I found the glass bits for my lamps at my local garden centre - I think they were listed as candle holders? I added some string led lights (Amazon, box of something like 10 strings for under a tenner at the time!) and made little leather caps with our group symbol stamped on the top to stop the lanterns filling with rain! They've worked out pretty well so far - possibly I should do a little video if I make another batch?
With such a large space, why no cots or anything, why stay on the ground?
Mostly personal taste. I find the futon more comfortable than camp beds I've tried in the past, and also as someone who often runs low on physical energy it's a lot simpler and easier to flop the futon on the floor than wrangle a camp bed.
There is absolutely space for them though, you're quite right!
...mind you, if I had the carrying capacity, budget, and reliable energy levels I would love to go for one of the wooden cots I've occasionally seen!
@@GiddyMinnow Groovy, great set up overall. I was just curious.
@@kennymahan9354 no worries - it was a good question :)
