Claudia, I am 70years old, grew up on a Ranch/Farm in Oklahoma and have never regretted my childhood. My Dad once told me "If you ain't happy doing what you are doing, don't do it. Life is too short to go through it unhappy....... you are very lucky to realize this at such a young age, I am so impressed! Good luck, you are going to do well......:-) PS "don't put more on your plate than you can eat"

So happy for you Claudia. You are very smart, and can tackle any venture on the farm that you set your mind to. Concise targeted learning in your spare time is good, even just internet research or visiting/talking to similar farms are some of most valuable forms of educations these days. Farming and manufacturing will be the backbone of the times ahead. Yes, approaching times may seem dark and gloomy, but as a farmer, you will be a shining light in darkness as people rely on you for food, and that is very rewarding, just as much as the journey along the way will be for you and all those around you. Just remember that there will be some setbacks and difficulties in all businesses, but don't be discouraged by them, just keep going, and you will persevere through them and come out on the other side each time wiser and more experienced. Taking breaks, sleeping on it, eating healthy, and asking others for advice are tips to cope with difficulties. Once you have mastered something, and your schedule is full, remember to delegate responsibility as needed. This will free up your time, reducing your stress, and making you far more productive in your best areas, helping you reach your goals much faster. Never give up. You were born a winner.

I dropped out of school to go back to farming full time, and I can tell you I'm not going back. No regrets here. I get paid to do what i love, I go home to my own house, zero debt. I worked hard, and a lot to be where I am today, but I am free to chase my dreams now with no worries. I learn more each year than I ever did going to school, and everything I learn now is useful. And most of it can be used outside of farming to. People often ask why i work so many hours, why i work in weekends, and I tell them, it's not work for me, I'm at "home", at my happy place. My best advice is to never let anyone or their opinions take you away from your happy place!

  • @aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto

Claudia, I have been watching your channel since the beginning. I am from just outside Skaneateles, NY which is not far from your family farm. I left there with so many regrets many years ago. I settled in Seattle got married had two kids and started a business. A successful life yes, It was fun because I spent 38 years in the Music business working with some of the top Artist of my time up until COVID. I don't regret only finishing one year of college because I did what I was passionate about with no regrets.
I Miss Upstate, NY and hope to move back sometime soon. I know much has changed but many things have stayed the same. I hope that you will pursue your passion and what your heart and soul tells you to do. I thought from the beginning that going off to school was not what was the best future for you but I never said anything here because I did not want to spoil your dreams. My Son dropped out after 1 year of college and has a job that pays him more than he would have ever made with his business degree. My Daughter has her Masters and not working in her field but finds herself 79,000 dollars in debt and struggling to pay it off. Her Husband has a very good paying job, but this is still a burden on their future.
You did the right thing going home. You have amazing parents and siblings and I know that you will be doing what makes you smile. Yes life is short and you need to live with a smile not a frown with debt. Go for it girl and listen to your parents and make a life that makes you happy. Love you guys! I sent you and your parents this message Months back, but the quote from my New Book I think made your Mom cry. I hope it was tears of joy. Welcome home. Here is that quote again. Print it, frame it and live it.
Our lives are scattered like stars strewn across the
universe, unique with no two alike. There will never be another you. You are a temple unto yourself. Remarkable, extraordinary, special, and yes perhaps even unusual. Treat yourself accordingly and never diminish who you are by trying to be someone else. Your story belongs to you. A biography and documentation of your existence, with each new chapter part of the book of your noteworthy and exceptional life. You are God’s gift to those you have blessed with your presence…those who can call you friend. Whenever you feel you are less (and you will), look to the sky and see the vastness of the heavens and thank him for making only one creature (Claudia) unlike anyone else and honor him by living a good and virtuous life. We are the sum of our being and we must never find disappointment in living our lives according to the principles and standards we have set for ourselves….if you compromise those values you will have failed to be creditable to the most important person of all…you.~ George Wheeler Welcome home sweet girl. We love you! XX's…”Peace Out Girl Scout”

    @stefanjung4454 Před 3 lety

    Hello from Germany,
    How are you doing?
Dear Claudia, I've been following your videos for some time. I often remember my own childhood and youth, which I was also able to spend on a farm in the Black Forest, southwest Germany. Quite often I have cursed my hard work and thought of my peers. They sat around somewhere doing nonsense. I didn't have time for that. To do this, I drove a tractor and combine harvester, which many others could never do. I also learned a few things for life that will benefit me today! I think there are certain parallels that only people know who grew up in agriculture. No, that's definitely not a disadvantage! In contrast to others who hang around somewhere, you have already achieved something for yourself, your society and your country. I am happy for you that you can study, even if it is expensive. The time has come for you in your life where you can realize your dreams. Do whatever you want, it's your life. Make now what you enjoy out of the possibilities. Later some things will never be possible again. Then it only annoys you because you didn't do it. I completed an apprenticeship as a papermaker and spent 27 years driving a truck in Europe, Russia and North Africa. Which was unfortunately not always nice and fun. But I got to know a lot of people and experienced other cultures. For 2 years I have been living alone again, unfortunately the second marriage did not last either, and I found a job that was very fulfilling for me. And I will visit a country that has always interested me very much. The United States of America. This is my next goal to travel there one day. I know you are going to declare me crazy! After all, I'm 48 years old and I am acting like an 18 year old. I am very happy to see how you sisters plan your future, help out on your parents' farm and thus shape your future. Apart from the fact that I am impressed by the size of the landscape in the USA, there are many parallels to the farms in Germany. Here, of course, everything is on a much smaller scale. Still, some things are the same thing. The farm on which I grew up no longer exists. The company is too small and you would have to invest far too much to continue. So operations would cease 4 years ago. But you don't forget your roots. I am still interested in agriculture, also in other countries. A big dream would be to visit an American farm. That would give a trip through the USA the absolute summit. But back to you Claudia. Do whatever you want and whatever makes you happy. This is the most important thing in your life. Otherwise, you might regret it someday. It is good that you are studying. That might enable you a lot. And what you have learned once you don't forget, at least not completely.
    Stay strong and healthy!

Degrees aren't everything and sometimes its better to actually learn on the job make mistakes and learn by them like that, I get what you are saying about rather skip school an work on the farm as I was the same many years ago lol but over the years I've taken 3 degrees in different areas of farming from online courses and multiple college certs so its still an option for you later on while your working.

Claudia, I went through a similar situation. I went to an out-of-state university for a short period of time before coming back home to work on the farm. And while I wonder how my life would have been different if I continued pursuing a degree, I do not regret anything. You have to do what makes you happy. And it seems you are doing just that. It sounds like you have things planned out. I believe happiness is found when: 1. You follow your dreams (by any means necessary) and 2. Put faith and trust in The Lord. Congratulations on the decision!

Born and raised Okie here. The calf fry festival at Tumbleweeds in Stillwater is always a great time. Glad you you got to experience that! I’ll bet you had the Oklahoma boys going crazy!!!
At your age and with your talent, personality, work ethic, drive and not to mention your upbringing you can not possibly make the wrong decision right now! 👏👏👏👏👏👏 happy for you!

Huge props to you for knowing what you want. College is great IF it fits your life. It’s great if it’s going to benefit your financial and tangible future, but the honest truth is it doesn’t work that way for the majority of college students. You have to balance the financial outlay versus future income. Personally, I think your decision is right on point. Gain your knowledge firsthand through your Mom & Dad and through practical experience. Very happy and proud for you! Live your life and learn as you go! 👏👏👏👏

I think it's GREAT!! Follow your heart, follow your stars, etc. You are plenty young enough to go back to school if things don't work out, but they WILL work, lol, be positive. You got my vote. Seems like there are heirloom seeds for everything these days, will you try growing a few heirloom apple trees too?

The path you are speak of is taken one footstep at a time...What changes is the forks we come across while on it. If you have walked one, know where it ends, then why not walk the other ...! You are young enough to try many things. As I wrote nearly a year ago... there is so much world out there to experience... you will definitely find your place, space, and peace of mind that is yours... your life your choice...as always... Claudia I am here for the smile...

Good choice! I was miserable through my degree, and although I continued through with it, it was only because I helped me get some outside opportunities that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. I am now gainfully employed in a job that has almost nothing to do with my degree, and I get paid plenty well, and still get to do work on the home farm. The important thing is to make a choice and have a solid, realistic plan to achieve your goals. I think you have made a great choice and have a great plan - all the best to you!

Coming from someone who grew up on a farm and ended up in computer engineering school. I managed to find something I can stand to do, but I figured out way too late that I wasn't happy in my original major and soldiered on in a new major (comp. eng) and I graduate in December. Looking back now, I wish I had acted on my thoughts back at the end of my first year that I wasn't happy and wished I had been in Ag or back on the farm. Moral of the story, not an uncommon thing, and its better to figure out early than after spending even more money. (I let my parents pull me back into that trap.) College is not for everyone, if you weren't happy then you made the right decision. Life is too short to spend it doing things we aren't happy with.

I don't believe College is the Society norm anymore with the outlandish cost I would encourage young people to look to the trades, unless want to be Doctor, Lawyer Etc.. put myself in debt for College and because of money was unable to finish don't consider myself College Drop out had 3.9 GPA I have a good job and have not looked back. It has to be something you really want to do your young be happy can always make decisions later in life.
