  • In this video I build another custom Axial SCX24 build! This time we utilize the Nexxspeed carbon fiber and aluminum chassis kit along with a bunch of other Nexxspeed upgrades. This is wild looking kit and a big departure from our typical build style, but the end result is a great performing and unique looking rig! Check out the video to see the install and the finished rig in action!

      Same for me, I had The Grasshopper, The Frog and The Audi Quattro Rally back in the early 80's. I haven't looked at RC car stuff in 40 years and I am blown away how far everything has come. I am currently in the process of building my first 1/24 crawler and this channel has been a big motivator.

    If these nuts are the same as would thread on a standard SCX24 bolt, the iFixit kit has a driver that will fit. Get any driver kit with a 2.5 mm hex.
    Get an iFixit kit anyway. I use mine constantly for this stuff.
    Some (maybe one) of the kits has a bendy driver extension too.
    That, with your standard 0.05 hex will make quick work of those bolts. It'll also make it easy to over-torque them, so watch out!

    You are definitely on a mission with the 24's 😉✌️it's amazing how these have taken on another level of popularity in the last year. The after market has exploded with options so much that it's hard to keep up with everything. I have to focus my budget so I have my 24's +95% where I want them, and unless I grab a Cayman Kit later this year my attention has shifted to other projects. Still love driving them, and winter is cold here so I have been working on my indoor crawlarena when I have time.

    Those wheel weights look like the ones that are press fit into the stock scx24 wheels and the holes in the weights are to help with venting. Another awesome build, Adam. My final parts for my knockoff HR LCG chassis should be here this week or next and it will be completed.
    Also did you see Injora's new brass 1.0" wheels they just released? I picked up the W1103 and wrapping them with the same tires you used on your Injora Buggy build. For axles going to try my luck with the BDXrc portals. Hope the little purple Injora motor can handle this...

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  Před rokem +1

      That makes perfect sense about the wheel weights! They also sent aluminum wheel covers for the stock wheels, so these two probably work together to create an aesthetic and heavy stock wheel. I did not see those new wheels, I’ll have to check them out! Thanks for watching!

  • @michaeldorich4485
    @michaeldorich4485 Před rokem +1

    This is a great review and build.. You talked about the shock mounting issue. Could get extra chassis brasses, that are threaded on both ends I assume, and place them between the shocks. So, you would be screwing into the brace rather than the little nut? It probably wouldn't work for all the different positions. Thanks for sharing.

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  Před rokem +1

      Thank you! That's a good thought, but you're right in that it wouldn't match the options on the chassis. But the likelihood of need or using all of those mounts is slim to none, so if you matched up a handful, that would probably suffice.

    Great looking rig. I'm not a buggy guy, but that one is nice and quite unique. I think reversing it would be great and shave off some grams. Make the main chassis CF and the bolt on panels alum. Buggy kits are going to sit higher due to the nature of their chassis design, so I may advise against portals if you're looking for serious performance. I love all your videos! I'm modeling my first scx by your ideas! Coming out great so far!!! But I have a question about the iver drive gears in the front? It's seeming to bind when backing up and it just has a clunky sound? Is the normal just cuz of the difference in gearing between the front and the back or is it the stock drive shafts just not handling it? Any words of advice? Anything appreciated!

      Thanks for watching! What percentage overdrive did you do in the front? You shouldn’t be getting binding issues. It could be something is misaligned on the diff or could you have possibly forgot to reinstall a bearing? I’ve done that before which is why I ask

      The little orings one goes on each end of the worm gear right? Do they go anywhere else? When I slide the gear in I put the bearings in the carrier then slid the worm gear and diff gear in at the same time and held them in. I have the rcawd +4 mm axles as well. Would that change anything?
      Thanks alot for taking the time to respond!

      @@blainetate4983 you’re correct about the o rings. With the rcawd axles, did you remove the little red o ring on the axle shaft before installing?

      Oh my gosh I did not! I'll have to fix that! I got a bunch of stuff coming tomorrow from mofo rc so I'll take can of that when I have it apart again. I thought those were supposed to stay on! Oh geez lol

    your builds are great but i think all the flex is too much, it cuts into your climbing and scale

      Thank you, and you're right. I definitely sacrifice scale and overall performance due to my addiction to flex!

    it always looks so wrong without springs. Not a fan of that look.

      It is very bizarre! Can't deny the crawling benefits though, but it's certainly an unorthodox setup.

    Hello,
    I just got my first ever rock crawler, Deadbolt. Im brand new to the hobby.
    if i may ask, how did you mod the shocks so that the driveshaft stops falling out. Im having exactly that issue, I was going to put in a longer one, but realized, that even the spare they sent with the truck does not fit in the front. So I guess im stuck using that shaft, but stock, the travel is not that great. so i got the same shocks, and longer HM bars, but my drive shaft keeps falling out. Moving the shock is not an option, then truck then sits too high, and falls backwards over the smallest of hills. I have added HM upgrade parts, like, brass servo holder, aluminum skid-plate, full replace, not cover. extended, axles.
    thanks:)

      Hello! To help control front end lift and keep your driveshaft in tact, I use a limiting strap up front. Here is what I do: czcams.com/video/2cFlJfdcZj8/video.html

      @@CapeCrawlers thanks. I have since added a strap, and it does keep the truck down longer, but its still not great. I was going to add longer front links, but then notices that the second shaft was still too short. I guess now I have to try to find a longer one that i may need to cut to get it to work. But ive seen loads of people stretching the wheelbase, im also going to try to add metal axle housing, that should help, maybe even keep and move the stock one to the back and give myself rear wheel steering... That be cool, connect to ch3.
