Why So Many Palestinians Live In El Salvador | AJ+

  • El Salvador has one of the largest populations of Palestinians outside of the Arab World, with almost 100,000 descendents. The country even has a president-elect of Palestinian descent - Nayib Bukele. Not surprisingly, Palestinians have heavily influenced the small Latin American country over the last century.

Latin America is very diverse, more diverse than most people realize - especially people from the US, who keep insisting that "Latino" is a race.

The Hispanic/Latino identity in the U.S. is the biggest fake identity in U.S. history. The only thing that should separate Anglos from Latinos in the Americas is what language they speak natively and at home.

@@jjall663 You seriously don't think Latinos in the U.S. haven't celebrated their "otherness" from Anglos, taking pride in their growth over that of the Anglos? So much Anglo anxiety in this country stems from that, and if Latinos were once again seen more as "Whites" and Mestizos instead of their own distinctive class of "Latinos", and this most importantly includes abandoning Spanish for English, in essence becoming Anglos, the Anglos here would feel far, far less threatened, and people like Trump would have never come onto the public stage.

I can tell I discovered a lot of things about my family Tree just by asking as we have the perception that we are true Salvadorans, natives if you will, but there's history behind us. Palestinians, as well as Spaniards in my case and other races, are part of this country.

I’m originally from Honduras and I can say we share Arab family ties with El Salvador.
Although El Salvador has closer ties and similarities with Palestine due to the war conflicts in both nations. That makes their connection even more unique.
My best friends are from Syria and Iraq spread out in New York, New Jersey, and Dubai. I love my Arab people; they’re the most generous, welcoming, and loving.
In Honduras we have a big Arab community there, specially in the biggest cities like San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa, La Ceiba, Comayagua, El Progreso, Tela, Puerto Cortés, and at some point in time in La Lima.
They’re about 260,000 people of Arab descent of which around 5% are Muslim, and 95% Catholic or Orthodox.
We have the Club Hondureño Arabe, they’re the most productive people with their many businesses, they’re the wealthiest, and they’re integrated into the society without losing their identity. They are mostly from Palestinian and Lebanese heritage, and yes, they’re still called turcos by many.
There’s even a little blue mosque with golden domes in San Pedro Sula where Muslim worshipers attend Friday prayers.
We also have small Jewish communities of Romanian heritage. We’re very diverse.
Former president Carlos Flores Facussé is of Arab heritage, and other politicians have been part of presidential cabinets as well.
If you’ve heard these last names then you know Arabs in Honduras and El Salvador are related somehow:
Nasser, Kafie, Yuba, Kattán, Kawas, Chaín, Bandi, Panayoti, Sikafie, Larach, Asfura, Facussé, Barjum, Bendeck, Canahuati, Andonie, Kafati, Handal, Saca, Saybe, Yuja, Burbara, Segebre, Sakkel, Nasralla, and many more.
At the end of the day we are one community trying to live a better life making the best of it.
    Everyone’s welcome ✌🏽❤️🇭🇳❤️🇸🇻❤️

Well now you begin to know the real truth, why do you think Palestinians, Lebanese, Armenians and Assyrians flee their homelands, because the mohammedans are very racist and supremacist, these people are probably either christian, druze or jewish. Back in their homelands they were 2nd or 3rd class citizens, the term given them by the mohammedans is "dhimmi" and in order to keep living in their ancestral homeland they had to pay the jizyah, an extortion tax similar to the extortion La Cosa Nostra demands as protection. mohammedans don't work, they live off the spoils of non-mohammedans, because they consider themselves "the best of peoples" and all others "the vilest of creatures".

And yeah, Christian, Jewish or Druze Palestinians leave their homelands missing them terribly yet knowing if they return, they'll be killed in cold blood by the murderous "best of peoples" Mohammedans. Carlos Slim is an example, he is Maronite Christian Lebanese, his father and older brothers had already made the move to Mexico, why upon reaching adulthood(18 or 21)the defunct and extinct Ottoman Empire made it a habit of coercing even their second class dhimmi subjects into serving in their imperial army. I live in honduras and we have a lot of palestinian refugees from the 20s , we also have a social club for arabs they are also called turcos here. Matter of fact they have been a core part of the society a man from palestinian descendants is running for president. That is how palestinians have help shape my country.
