Hi Bruce...You are actually correct. A great singer is very much the same as a great actor. Both are expected to bring to life a fictional character that is not necessarily who they themselves are. The script writer lays down the story and a song writer lays down the song and the actor or singer brings the emotions and character of that fictitious persona to life. People watch movies and listen to music expecting to be convinced that the character on the screen or singer on the stage is a real person. What makes an actor or singer great is that they are able to embody and own the character. And they have to do this by feeling all the necessary emotions and expressing the necessary gestures of the character as required in the script or song. Otherwise, they have failed in their duty as a performer. Lucy is a great singer and great performer. People like Lucy receive awards because they embody the character when they perform. I know this because I have personally worked with celebrities in music and film for over 50 years.
Lucy does not just sing a song.....she performs them !!!! making the song really come alive !! She has a lot of acting experience at least leads in school plays !! She knows what she is doing !!!
