      I have watched many CZcamss and yours is my very first post. I thought it was outstanding. First, I am ADHD so it really helps to repeat words and ideas three times over. Also, I am usually driving and can’t see the board so it helps immensely to repeat and give my mind enough time to create a visual image. You tone is emphatic and you possess vitality which makes to sustain focus.
      Thank you very much!!!!yvette

    **The pupillary light reflex doesn't involve the LGB it goes directly to the olivary pretectal nucleus in the mid brain which then sends signals to the Edinger Westphal nucleus near the superior colliculus on both sides.

    thank you very much! I really love your videos!!!! I was wondering.... Maybe I have not completely understood the pathway, but in class we learned that the fibers that go to the superior colliculus and pretectal nucleus come directly from the optic nerve but not from the lateral geniculus. Can this be clarified please? I am confused because in the drawing it seems that the superior colliculus and pretectal nucleus receive fibers from the lateral geniculate. Thank you so much for your videos, they help a lot!

    • @FranklinCavalHolme
      @FranklinCavalHolme Před 3 lety

      Good point. The melanopsin retinal ganglion cells that provide input to the pretectal nucleus synapse directly with the neurons in the pretectal nucleus (without making intermediate synapses with the neurons in the lateral geniculate nucleus). This is unusual since most retinal ganglion cells do synapse in the lateral geniculate.

    Dr! How the eye knows that we see closer or deeper? Is light changes with the distance ? For example if i am looking at my hand and my pupills are in myosis because there is more light arround me, but if i look far away light will decrease so it will be in mydriasis?

  • @ehabsaed8436
    @ehabsaed8436 Před 2 lety +1

    I think there is obvious mistake...the fibres that mediate light reflex leave optic tract to pretectal area and NOT join lateral geniculate body at all as mentioned in the video
