  • Orlando Bloom talks about being Made by Dyslexia and how if you tap into your dyslexic thinking...anything is possible.
    About Made By Dyslexia:
We’re a global charity led by successful dyslexics. Our purpose is to help the world properly understand, value and support dyslexia. We believe in the game-changing power of dyslexic thinking. After all, everything from the light bulb to the iPhone was invented by dyslexic thinkers. In 2020 we launched “Connect The Spots”, a global training and advocacy programme to level the playing-field so every dyslexic child can achieve their potential.
To achieve this we have one single minded mission: to train every teacher worldwide in the next five years to spot, support and empower every dyslexic child.

Orlando and Keira both had dyslexia and went on to be Elizabeth and William to gross billions of dollars doing pirates of the Caribbean. Just because a person has dyslexia doesn’t mean they can’t be a positive to society 👍

"Passion based learning" - learning is nothing else but to observe and create and experience the world with passion and excitment. "Learning" in the academic sense of the word is very often quite the opposite

    Orlando hit the nail.
I'm a strong case of dyslexia, but the good thing is - I'm younger than him so I was one of the first students that received treatment for it. My parents were great and pushed me in a good way. I was so bad a spelling, grammar, but I loved creating stories in my head, since I'm 4 years old. I loved story telling and creative writing. I've had such a big imagination (and lol, my teacher told me ALSO that I'Ve always looked out of the window - maybe a symptome, haha) which led me to the path I'm now.
I studied philsophy and german literature (I'm german btw) and I was doing great. Sometimes I feel that my concentration isn't the best, but I can work around it.
And like Orlando said, I can also look deeply into characters, he likes to perform these characters, I like to create them - I still do.
So pls, all of the feature parents out there: If your child is dyslexic, you HAVE to invest time! My father learned with my EVERY SINGLE DAY, even on sundays. One hour. At grade 9 I was the best student in german, in grade 13 one of the best in english (which is a very rare case for dylexic people, other languages are so damn hard). But I did it with a lot of help and love.
Your child is not stupid, it's the opposite. They are so smart, mostly talented in math. But they can turn their weaknesses around, if you help them.

I've always found working with and talking to other dyslexics an easer and diffrent experence, the synergy of spearking to someone who thingks like you is beautifel, I'd love to hear their thoughts on it.

I think you for saying that because that’s kept me alive all these years into those who say that people who can’t read are stupid look at the person next year that has no vision that reads or that can read you don’t understand

I was diagnosed at 7. My parents made clear to me from that day that the expectations had not changed and if that meant I had to work twice as hard as everyone else, then so be it. That was the difference for me. Education is great but you can only lead a horse to water.

I was always being caught 'daydreaming' at junior school, since then i've been diagnosed with Asperger's, which is of course a non-specific condition in comparison to dyslexia. I don't like the labels, i think there's only one spectrum, it's called The Human Condition and we're all on it. Liked and subbed :)

I could never absorb what was taught in school because it was sooooooo boring and it was like the teachers were only there for a paycheck. I had a hard time throughout all of my years of school. They need to teach teacher's how to make education fun for all ages especially little one's. If it's boring to me... I'm not moving forward at all.
