@@TheDemouchetsREACT You NEVER, EVER should run from a lion or other big cats in particular. It triggers their hunt instinct. You should never even turn your back on them. I saw this firsthand at a SA game reserve when a group of teenagers turned their back on a young “domesticated“ female lion. She immediately tried to jump on their backs.
We have Zoos in South Africa 🇿🇦. I'm quite conflicted though when it comes to visiting those though I understand their purpose. I am biased towards visiting the game reserves and national parks because those are more natural habitats for the animals.
I agree with u zoos are small and cramped game parks are big and spacious for the animals

I am with you there. I went to the joburg zoo the other day and the animals look very uncomfortable and depressed shame. I felt very uncomfortable being there. Those animals are not taken care of

How can a person like me living in Cape Town looking at Table Mountain every day not feel blessed
durban is very humid, when it rains its basically raining warm water, their beaches are nice too, warm ocean water compared to our water in cape town
Mpumalang province such a beautiful region. I visited once when I was living in Pretoria. I went with some friends to a ame lodge it was amazing. I'd so love to explore much more of it and go see the Blyde River canyon.
Yes you can ride an ostrich. The people that worked there gave us a demonstration of how they ride them. We went to an ostrich park and the animals there tried to eat anything shiny including our watches and cameras. The teenage girls in our travel group all began to scream whenever that happened. It was hilarious.
South Africa, okavango delta in Botswana and Namibia - swakopmund, Etosha and Kavango.
The cape winelands are beautiful. So many varieties of wine cellars and tasting to do. Also award winning wine in some of these farms. Also the cheese farms are amazing too

The garden route is the best 👌 the two oceans are also worth a visit, so weird having your one foot in the warm side and the other is freezing cold in the other ocean 😀

December is Definitely the best time to travel to South Africa as it is our Summer.
1. Cape Town is the most BEAUTIFUL City is our country and has the most to offer for traveling and new experiences.
2. Durban is very humid and not really much to do other than going to beaches and enjoying amazing food.
3. Game drives are very very safe, just listen to guides.
4. The low-veld is extremely beautiful with all the Canyons, mountains and rivers. Our national animal park is also there (The Kruger PARK)
Wifey is right, you would need at least 4 weeks to fully experience all of South Africa and travel.

I’d say KZN is a good start. Durban has more to offer than just the beach, I promise. I love it here. People are friendly, weather’s perfect and the drakensberg isn’t too far from here. Then you can road trip to CT using the garden route!🥂

You don’t know what you’re missing though. As I said elsewhere here, going to a game reserve was one of the highlights of my entire life. You just have to pay very close attention to what the rangers tell you, and not stray off (even a little bit) from whatever group you are traveling with. They have guns and will keep you safe.
If you still want to ride and ostrich, you can do it in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. They even have Ostrich races there.
Hermanus one of my favorite see side spots. Also you don't even have to go on a boat trip to spot the whales. There are awesome spots from land where you can see them playing in the bay from the shore. It's one of the worlds best land based whale watching spots.
OKAVANGO delta from Botswana🇧🇼 is my favorite 💯💯👏👏

The Biggest Kruger National Park (Safari) is in Limpopo the northern part of the Country 🇿🇦, and there’s also the oldest AFRICAN Kingdom in the Southern Africa called Mapungubwe. For some reason these places are not included in videos like this.

@@wsalie2672 It’s within South African borders, the largest part being in Limpopo and then Mpumalanga. It’s not extended to Zimbabwe but ends by the boarders of Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Essentially it’s a SOUTH AFRICAN territory.

The Cape Winelands are about 30 - 45 minutes drive from Cape Town.
Tourists usually start in Cape Town and work their way up through the Provinces to Johannesburg.
I would advise that you work your way up the Coastal regions [Cape Town, Port Elizabeth (now known as Gqeberha) and Durban] to Johannesburg and then explore the inland areas thereafter.
Game reserve is a must! We also have what we call “walking with the lions” in South Africa, North-West province. It is such a beautiful experience!
Durban would probably be the best City for you to move to if you wanted to move to the Republic of South Africa. It's one of the most affordable major cities in the World. I think you will like Durban the most if you wanna live in the country and I get the feeling you like coastal living.

Cape Town is awesome! I was a guide for a few years up until recently because of the Covid lock down but I've live in Cape Town all my life and it's great! You guys would love it out here
So glad you guys did this video. And yes, you can ride an ostrich. My family went to the Oudshoorn in the Karoo where my dad got on one and they used my mom in her high heels to demonstrate just how strong the eggs are by letting her stand on them. It was pretty cool..the workers on the specific farm had ostrich races sitting on them like jockeys 😅
Thinking of riding an ostrich just doesn't sit right in my mind because I just know I'd be the one to fall off or I'll be hanging on by my leg.😂 That sounds like a cool experience!

Best time to come to SA is December and Jan too cause January is more cheaper and exclusive cause everybody is back to work i personally prefer Jan, if is family trip.

3:19 oohhh!!! Potholes! 😱 if I can recommend one place to go to, it's there. Never seen anything else like it. Especially after a lot of rain (like right now).
We also have a lot of caves to explore (most popular being the Cango cave in Oudtshoorn, which is also where you can see ostriches (and yes, my brother rode one 😂). The Western Cape is very lush and green, Cape Town has a lot of different activities to do. Most of our beach towns are gorgeous and offer a lot of stuff to do as well. You have the Cape Wine Route, Franschhoek (mini France), the Ceres and Sutherland area (which gets snow in winter, like right now).
George and Knysna is gorgeous as well. Sabie has a lot of waterfalls to explore and is more forested.
I have yet to explore the Northern provinces more, but I still want to see the Drakensberge and spend more time in Pretoria and Johannesburg.
12:29 😂😂😂😂😂😂 lol!! It's actually amazing to experience. We were lucky enough to get a cabin/house close to the Kruger National Park, where we got to see giraffes, monkeys and bucks closeby (the monkeys got in the house one morning and stole our food 😂).
When you drive through the park itself, keep your car doors closed and never leave the vehicle. For the most part the animals don't really care.
Sometimes you won't see any big cats (cheetahs and leopards are usually very difficult to spot). You'll mostly see birds, antelopes, buffaloes and zebras. Maybe giraffes and elephants. To increase your chances of seeing animals, take a guided tour or go to the watering holes - you're much more likely to see animals there.
To enjoy your African journey... start with West Africa then Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar then finish up with South Africa

They should just come straight to SA. Remember all Africans are in SA. Nigerians, Kenyans, Tanzanians, Madagascar, Ghana are in SA. If you go to their countries you won't find anyone there. Don't waste your money going there, come straight to where everyone wants to be. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Duran water is darker, rougher but warmer. Cape Town is clear, white beaches, but freezing!! Durban is my home town and home of the Zulus. Umhlanga offers world class beaches, accommodation and restaurants. Cape Town is stunning!! But so different! If you can, do both. In between is the quaint Karoo and Garden Route down the coastal route. KZN has more game reserves. And if you can, inland of KZN is the Golden Gate and the Drakensburg (stunning mountains) Both very special.
If you want to experience South Africa, go to the Blyde River Canyon, Addo elephant park and Cape Town, including the Cape Winelands. You do that, you would have travelled outside the USA. It's no point going to familiar territory like Durban...
I'm not exactly sure which country in Africa it was, but I once saw an interesting video on Facebook. Apparently there's at least one Safari Park where the Lions climb in the vehicles with the visitors. They then start rubbing against the people like great big Pussy-cats. If you're a afraid of being chased by a dog, I'm not sure you'd want to go there Dion. Personally I'd love 😍 it, according to reliable sources Lions purr. I'd love to give one a good scratch and find out just how it's purr is. According to a friend of mine who used to work in a zoo you can hear a Lion's purr for quite some distance.
There's also the option of game flights..seeing the big 5 via hot air balloon.
Please do consider visiting Botswana after SA 🤗
I'd love for yall to come to Durban when you come around it's really nice, and Durban is the beach though very much like the western cape so the beach covers a lot of the land in SA
The table cloth is a regular thing as we call the South Easter wind the Cape Doctor. If you see the table cloth it's a sign of strong wind coming but if there's no cloth then Cape Town becomes the best city to visit on a sunny day.
Fly in through johannesburg and visit the cradle of humankind. Fly down 2 Durban and go 2 the game reserve in Hluhluwe if u want 2 see all of the big 5 animals. If u were 2 go 2 the Kruger national park, u may not get 2 see all of the big 5 due to the park being so vast. Visit ushaka marine world in Durban 2 see sharks and other sea animals. Rent a car and drive down to Capetown via the Garden Route and just enjoy the landscape and the most scenic coastal towns. It's about 1000 miles drive but a drive of a lifetime
in Durban the beach is the main attraction, Ushaka waterpark is right by the beach with an amazing aquarium. They have amazing hotels but for scenic views travel down Eastern Cape down to Cape Town. Lookup Knysna in Western Cape, stunning place to visit.
in a town called Oudshoorn in the Karoo they farm with ostriches. on a tour of one farm they had some ostrich races. don't know if they still do. if you come, try and come outside of peak season. accommodation is usually cheaper and not as overcrowded as during peak or high season.

You can always start in Cape Town and do like a road trip though South Africa and go to all the places that you want to.

You can ride an ostrich. Went to the Cango Caves/Wilgewandel area when I was 14 and rode one. You hold on to the part of the wing that meets the body.
Not so fun fact: if you fall abd it kicks your head, you'll likely perish

Yes you can ride an ostrich lol. I would never do it though. In Oudtshoorn they have an ostrich farm. We visited as kids. They had some jockies that would do races with the ostriches. I think they obviously had to be light weights to Mount the birds
If theres a cloud on Table mountain theres normally wind in Cape Town and surroundings. And its normally very hot with wind. Which compliments each other.... If theres no Clouds over mountain that day in summer is normally very hot.... No wind. Fun Fact. Philip Cape Town. February month is hottest and windiest month. And winter starts in April when its raining and stormy. Durban is a nice Winter Location. Temp wise very mild and little rain.
Garden route is a must do and the Addo Elephant park at end of it. Natures valley a must and Knysna Plettenburg bAy and Jeffreys also on Garden route.... Kruger and Umfolosi parks got guided tours and very safe. But theres also alot of private parks with no carnivores like Sabisabi i

I think Joburg suits you most,but you should visit Cape town also and Durban as those a coastal areas
by the way, we have ZOOS AS WELL, remember not everyone affords to travel far to see animals, so most of the schools especial lower grades, organize trips for the little ones to go see animals at the zoos
There is s place in SA where the have Ostrich farms one called Safari and they have some of the workers on the farm to ride the birds for the tourist so good.

ok. blyde river canyon has a 70m free fall gorge jump, stunning and beautiful, also it has Gods window witch you can see the most stunning views. in cape town is table mountain , cape point and robin island where nelson Mandela were held prisoner for 27 years. in outshoorn is the cango caves very interesting and beautiful. Durban i will give a miss its more hyped up than it actually is. cape ughalas is the most southern point in Africa and a must see with pure white beach and a ship wreck. Kimberley has the biggest hand made hole in the southern hemisphere where diamonds were mined. So many more places that you could see and visit, none said in this video

I'll second your shout out for the North West. Live in Jozi so it's been my close to home get away place. I may be the exception, but Cape Town does very little for me. Happy to visit and leave. 😊
Most of this video covers only the EASTERN CAPE, WESTERN CAPE, and KZN, which span the entire South African Coast. so just land in cape town and follow the coast up to DURBAN or land in Durban and follow the coast down to Cape town. That way you might visit most of these places in case you're struggling to choose.

If you ever come to Cape Town try get to Llandudno beach. The water is cold but imo one of the best beaches we have , not as pack as the more popular ones like Camps bay , Clifton but far more scenic.

Definitely start in Cape Town, I'm biased as I've lived here my whole life lol, then from cape Town you go all along the eastern coast (Garden Route) towards Durban, from Durban you go North, to the Kruger National Park, ending in Mpumalanga which is probably the most beautiful inland region.
Fun fact, we may not ride ostriches but while growing up we heard stories about witches who rode on apes/gorillas' backs as means of transport at night when doing witchy stuff 😂

I rode an ostrich who a school trip to Cape Town when I was 12🥹 so yes, you can definitely ride an ostrich 😍
When you go for a game drive it’s true you should never move around, stand around or make noise especially when u get close to the lions or any other big 5. I may be wrong but according to the the guide most of these animals don’t really see humans on the green game reserve cars.

We also have Zoos and stuff like that. We have a lot in SA trust.
I stay in Durban, warm beaches. I will think start to visit Johannesburg then Cape Town then Durban these places are long distance from each other and has a lot to see you can't travel to it in a week or 2 you will need more time. Please when you come to South Africa 🇿🇦 make sure you go to the National Parks or Game reserves, the animals will blow your mind they are nothing like the videos you watch plus you will have a guide and in the safety of the safari truck so it safe. I've seen animals 4 times now and I love it I'm still going again. There is nothing like seeing Geralf, Elephants in person and more.

Cape Town will be good for you guys and we also have a plenty of Zoos here in South Africa!
You have to visit a game reserve.. We don't normally go in those open game drive vehicles... Locals take their own cars... And you can close your windows.. Only rule us dont get out of your car - only at designated spots.
So you can get up close and personal, with glass between you. Lol
They also offer self drive if you can't do a game drive and are afraid of lions getting in. That way your doors and windows are closed but the Lions are right there next to you. But they also offer sage game drives that's closed off
Come to the Green Canyon (Blyde River Canyon) I'm not far from there and you will discover more than 7 nature destinations that are very busy including God's Window.

I have been to the Bylde River Canyon, Kruger National Park, Hluhluwe uMfolozi, Durban (lived there), Drakensburg (hiking is not for me), Capetown and the Winelands.

We're visiting as a family & would like to know family-oriented recommendations.
I was about to say Mansa is a solo traveller, they have small kids. Most attractions in SA are child friendly, in all three major cities. Then adventurous activities are mostly outside the cities, be it canoeing, bunjee jumping, quad biking, hiking, air balloon rides, zip lining, boat rides etc!!!
Lol! Yup ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE GUARD, I've experienced a lion hopping onto our car too but if everyones calm and freezes its almost like you kill the adrenaline of the lion so it just walks away

Theres too many places to reccomended or tell you guys about, Best tourist route I would suggest would be The garden route eastern cape or I could suggest you land in Johannesburg, rent a vehicle and drive to Durban, spend a day there and stay at a hotel, drive to Port Elizabeth, Sleep over, drive to Mosselbay, Sleep over, drive to Cape town.
The trip between Johannesburg and Durban is extremely long, but I'm sure you'd be able to see allot of South Africa
