    Nice one, Balkan. You could also array the levels which would be faster than copying. And linking might be an alternative option to keep the file a little lighter in big / complex projects.

    I think we need to separate the top & the level 1 group as 2 individual group for modify that
    top floor have its ceiling/roof and the level 1 wall covered the floor.
    Or do another way:
    just have a roof off-set at the top floor and the wall off-set over the ground at the ground floor?

    Hello Balkan Architect, I really like your tutorial because it is simple and usefull in the daily practis. I have 3 questions: can I use groups for electrical installation? I mean in a building like a hotel with similar rooms or can I use groups for one installation type like the installation in bathrooms of a multi-Storey building? Last question: if in one level you have a small difference, how can you adjust it without changing all other levels? thanks a lot body in advance!

  • @EugenevanWyk
    @EugenevanWyk Před 5 lety

    while groups are fine for "creating" your buillding,... you will need to move away from them, (elements in the group will take on the workset, the group was created in,...... in short,.... worksets and groups don't mix)
    as for editing group / sketched elements,.... DBL click on element to edit, (no need for going to ribbon),...... but easy to forget this DBL click function,.... I do all the time

    Group vertical array says it's constrained while we're pretty sure we made no constraints , therefor we used the copy and paste aligned option.. So two more questions for the experts (Balkan the expert).. Does an array use less computer resources than the copy and paste aligned option.
    Second question, How to show all contraints at one, cause the "reveal constraints" doesn't seem to show anything, cause we actually made none.
    Your tips for which Revit should be the smoothest to run on PCs are highly appreciated too, if there are differences between them 2023, 2021, 2017 and their usage of cpu and computer resources.

    • @canadianconsultant
      @canadianconsultant Před 2 lety

      Additional information related to that issue, after removing elevators, Groups are no longer constrained and could be 'array-ed' vertically.
      Simply-Complicated revit, Maybe there're contraints within the elevators family.

  • @TravisThompson10

    cutting the floors to the interior face of a wall isn't modelling a building accurately though. If you want a "3D" view to not show the floor bands, its wise to use filters.

    Hi Balkan. Great tutorial as usual!!! I just have a question.
    Do you think Group or Link works better for multilevel apartment? My understanding is that group is easier to copy between level but it will significantly slowdown Revit performance when the project goes larger. Linking seems to provide better performance but copy between level is a pain in the neck.

    • @balkanarchitect
      @balkanarchitect  Před 6 lety

      If you just group it it's a bit easier to change the floor plan, as you don't have to exit the project to open the linked floor. But if you have a large project, with multiple people working on it, it might make sense to link.

    Hi, nice tutorial. What's happen if I want to make a local adjustment in a group and not to propagate it ? Of course I can ungroup and make some modifications, but I want only specific object to be unlinked, for example to change the type of the table (round instead of square) and keep all other objects (wall, window, furnitures...) linked to the original group.

    • @aethylwulfeiii6502
      @aethylwulfeiii6502 Před rokem

      This is why you should use links instead of groups, or rather turn your group into a link before you copy and align to selected level, after that you can save as a different file then edit the new file and link the new file into the link as a different unit type.
