    Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole. Us, their always dedicated fans(Pentaholics), will come and enjoy listening to your reactions to their large variety of music, both covers and original. Scott Hoying, the tall blonde is a baritone with a wide range. Mitch Grassi is a counter tenor, with a VERY high range. Matt Sallee is the new bass singer, replacing Avi Kaplan. Both are very impressive. Kirstin (Kirstie) Maldonado is the mezzo-soprano, who make the group a perfect balance. Her and Mitch together sound like angels. Then, to make this group perfect you have Kevin Olusola, the most amazing beatboxer. Who also occasionally plays his cello. Pentaholics will continue to come to your channel to enjoy your reactions, because in our hearts we want everyone to love their music as much as we do.

    Welcome to the PTX rabbithole! Best a cappella group there is. If you want more of their stuff, I'd recommend two videos:
    1. Daft Punk Medley. It was recorded on a $400 dollar budget in a closet and won them their first grammy.
    2. Hallelujah. This is their most viewed song and it's absolutely stunning.
    I urge you watch them with headphones. The bass is often not picked up through computer speakers and adds so much to the music.

    Always nice to see someone experience Pentatonix for the very first time. Their fans will flood your page if you continue reacting to their music! They are the greatest a cappella group ever and have won 3 grammys for their work. If you care to continue (and you definitely should) definitely check out Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, and their Daft Punk medley. You really can't go wrong with any of their music though.
    Scott - is the main lead singer with an amazing range to his voice; baritone but fills in as bass or tenor as needed - he's the blonde in the middle. Kirstie - is the only female and amazing. Mitch - is the high tenor who's ever-changing looks is only out matched by his absolutely incredible voice. Those three started the group in high school and added a bass and beatboxer to the group for the Sing Off, an a cappella competition show which they won in the second season. Kevin - is the beatboxer and one of the most impressive people ever - an entire band in his mouth. This video features Matt - the bass who replaced the original bass of Avi who is featured in many other songs including Ring of Fire, a song with Home Free (the a cappella group that won season 3 of the Sing Off). Please check out more of their music - you won't be sorry! They are amazing!

    Just a heads up for your next PTX reactions there has been only one member change Avi Kaplan is the original Bass left amicably in 2017 and helped find Matt Sallee to replace him. You will see various versions of Mitch and Kirstie ( rhymes with thirsty) in all other videos they really change up their looks. All members have solo work as well.
    The group was formed in 2011 for season 3 of the Sing OFF ( a great reaction arc to see where it all began!) They have done covers and original music and are known for their Christmas albums which are AMAZING. We could give you suggestions but just start at the beginning and work your way down the list they are all great, but a few highlights Hallelujah, Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Daft Punk, Can't Help Falling in Love, Love Again, Aha, Light in the Hallway, Say Something........ and on and on. This type of group is called A Capella, which means no instruments. The tall blond guy is Scott Hoying-Baritone; the girl is Kirsten Maldonado, Mezzo-Soprano; the guy with the hat is Mitch Grassi, Counter-Tenor; they guy in the white jacket is Matt Sallee, Basso-Profundo, and the Beatboxer is Kevin Olusola, Tenor/Cellist/Cellist beatboxer. Scott, Kirsten, and Mitch met in a high school in Arlington, TX (between Dallas and Ft.Worth, TX). After graduation they went to different colleges and majored in music. They got back together for a TV singing competition called "Sing-Off," but 5 person groups were required, so Kevin and Matt came on-board from referrals. Penta is Latin for 5, and Tonix means tones, so, 5Tones or Penta Tonix, affectionally known as PTX. There are no "Lead" singers, they all sing solo in the same song in their vocal range. Listen to their version of "Hallelujah."

    Love your reaction! Acapella groups are awesome - I would suggest checking out Home Free as well. They do a bit more country - I'd suggest Man of Constant Sorrow and How Great Thou Art to start out with.

    So fun to see you discover Pentatonix! Thanks, great reaction, as always. Now I wonder if you've ever heard Geoff Castellucci? He sings with the acapella group Voice Play, but also has some individual covers. Check out his version of the Beatles "Blackbird" - or Tennessee Earnie Fords "16 Tons." Both are really fun and amazing. He has a gorgeous and unusual voice, and a range of about 5 octaves. While Dimash goes up into the stratosphere with the angels, Castellucci goes so low it challenges your ears with the lowest bass I've ever heard. Sometimes it's just a rumble... But I thought of him because if you like Pentatonix, chances are excellent you'll also like VoicePlay. Have fun, and don't miss them!

    You MUST see their cover of Hallelujah next! You will get more goosebumps, maybe a few tears, and will probably achieve the “Mitchface”! Mitch, the short guy, can also imitate a lead guitar with his voice in Bohemian Rhapsody!

    Welcome to the world of acapella music. Pentatonix are arguably the best of the acapella groups, but Home Free, Voice Play, and Voctave are also very good and popular. Home Free and Pentatonix are both 5 member groups with an occasional guest. Voctave has 11 members and are famous for their Disney Medleys. Home Free leans country, but they can do multiple genres. All have large fanbases that will find and follow you if you want to from your subscribers. Try them all, because they all do multiple genres I recommend that you try at least 3 performances from each group.

    Enjoyed your reaction young man. Just an FYI for you though... Early in your PTX experiences until you get to know Mitch (2nd from Right in this video) you will probably confuse his voice with Kirstin's (The only female) and vice versa on a lot of their songs. Sometimes they play harmonizing tag... and it's incredible.

    Pentatonix are incredible! Another incredible a Capella group is Home Free. I recommend listening to their cover of Ring of Fire feat. Avi Kaplan (he is Pentatonix original bass singer). As for more PTX reactions: Bohemian Rhapsody, Mary did you know and the Evolution of music are just a few to get you started.

  • @kegginstructure
    @kegginstructure Před 3 lety

    Yes, Gabi, they are "a capella" - and they are currently the premier such group in the world of music. They have a really wide range of music, all done with voices and other natural sound-makers - hand-claps, stomps, etc. by the beat-boxer Kevin, who also sometimes sings as a tenor. To get a hint of their range, look at their three Grammy-winners. "Daft Punk" (electro-pop), "Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairies" (Christmas music from "The Nutcracker Suite"), and "Jolene" (country music with a guest appearance by Dolly Parton.) They do ballads, pops, classics, and absolutely ASTOUNDING Christmas music.

    I so enjoyed your reaction! I look forward to seeing your exploration of the PTX catalog. You have only scratched the surface. I'd love to see your reactions to their "Bohemian Rhapsody", "The Prayer", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", "Pop Spring 2016" (it's a PTX live performance where they perform 3 original songs of theirs & "The Evolution of Michael Jackson"). There are more, but I'll leave it at that. Will be on the lookout for your next reactions to PTX.
