Bravo Col. Fettig! As much as I admire your performances, this might very well be your best contribution to the musical world. Who ever gets to sit in in a rehearsal with the President’s Own?!? As a middle school band director, I often talk about “legacy” with my students. What are they leaving behind to make their musical mark on the developing band? We, as band directors watching this, are reminded of what out focus is and our legacy. I know already that this will be yours!

Might you consider posting some videos on your approach to score study? I found the videos you did on the Sousa March analysis to be extremely fruitful and think that more videos like that encompassing standard band repertoire would be invaluable to the music ed community.

I am always how well the musicians of the Marine musical groups pull together for the Colonel. Here they start out and intonation is really suffering; but, by the half way point the intonation between everyone is perfect. The group also makes the correction immediately after the Colonel makes a suggestion or correction. The Marines are really fantastic performing group performing classical pieces.
I"ve played both clarinet and basset parts (on clarinet) in this great work, and it's a dream of mine to play the basset parts on actual basset horns! I envy you that pleasure!
I'd love to see a masterclass on score preparation and marking... the preparation to the preparation.
