I don't know why this video doesn't have at least 10x the number of views, it's one of the best videos explaining how to use RealityScan!

I've been thrashing around with this for a couple of days. Now I think I get it after watching your video. Thanks!

Since the RealityScan app doesn’t have exposure controls, I’m learning that the lighting and surroundings factor heavily. It’s a bit counter intuitive but the brighter your lights and brighter your surroundings, the darker your model will turn out. Next time I scan something I’m going to try indirect lighting and keeping the surroundings a neutral gray.

@@DIWHYDOTLIFE Again, you have helped me solve another problem I've been having. I've been trying to scan outside because that's what was recommended most of the time. But I think I need to set up some lights indoors to do this so it's not so bright.

Hi, you mentioned an alternative method of doing this using a LiDar camera. Is there an advantage of doing this with a regular camera as opose to a Lidar camera?

This particular app is photo-based so I don’t think Lidar would be of any benefit. I just got an iphone15 pro so I’ll be trying other apps that use its functionality.

Thanks for getting back to me. I see. Yes I'd love to see what you think of the results. I have a LiDar camera on my iphone 12 and when I did some video scanning I wondered if it would put an end to photo based scanning.

I just downloaded Polycam which utilizes LiDar enabled devices. I’ll post a first impressions video soon.
