In the First match you could used karn to take the grafdigger's cage so he culdn't use the scape spell anymore

1:56 Fun factoid, the Solemn Simulacrum that looked like a real person was in fact a real person named Jens Thorén who won 2002 mythic invitational and part of his prize was getting to design a card, much like Javier Domínguez with the Fervent Champion card.

@@rem134Yes he did although since his card was being released in Mirrodin, they decided he should be an artifact creature. What a great thing too. Now all colors had some form of ramp and draw in this new awesome creature.

I might be wrong, but I think at 35:00 you could've played the island, cast growth spiral, put the Plains on the field AND played birth of meletis, all in the same turn. Would have put shatter online 1 turn earlier.
it seems you overdid the ramp part of this deck otherwise good deck no mazemind tome surprises it filters cards and gains life
I like how a "shit hand" for mono red still gets you to 6 HP by turn 4.
i run a colorless list. made some tweaks to urs and it really helps against thoose aggro deck. that shadowspear is just amazing and the creatures is either good chumps in the beginning or big baddies in the lategame cuz they are X spells

I had that Ugin in a very janky Dinosaurs/Ramp/Nissa or Ugin deck, it was basically my first deck with the first packs I opened. It also had a splash of blue for 2 spark doubles. I have only good memories with it.

solem simulacrum brings back memories from 2003. when it was considered a powerhouse and almost every deck played him. so much discussion where ongoing about too much value was in that card- haha same time infamous "arc bound revenger" was a thing. but look what we've gotten today solem seems pretty fine and "average" :-D

there was a mana base issue, cultivate + solemn + growth spiral with too much plains. You can't do all 3 at once. Also green without nissa, white without elspeth conquer death and simic without shark typhoon nor krasis. Yes you had to make room for baby ugin and karn but I think you trimed the wrong cards :).
The fact counter spells and destroy target Tef3ri spells exist is reason enough not to ban the new Ugin, needing to ramp into 8 mana is easy enough but getting the spell to resolve in a Wilderness Reclamation Meta is going to be pretty hard, wilderness reclamation not being legendary and only an uncommon was a hell of an oversight by the balance team.
Shimmer Dragon is decent with this if you run some lower cost artifacts, actually gives huge value for those mirror matches when the -X doesn't do anything

i feel like you should have more basics in the deck, maybe even cut the growth spirals and go Selesnya. You could run a card like Grafdigger's Cage or other hate type of card main board to help against those cat ovens. Also, be able to throw in the Fountain land and blast zone to help against aggro decks with less colored needs. Heck, go even more colorless and play the citizen land with shadowspear in the deck.
having a turn 4 ugin is the best :) combo as follow turn 1 aboreal gazer, drops as second land, turn 2 (3) mana drops uro,magic happens and land drop again, turn 3 drop a land, play nissa,turn 4 tap a forest, + 1 nissa and cast ugin lol
How about the Myr Palladium (tap: gives two colorless mana) to speed up?

not super competitive but definitely a funny way to end a game. using nine lives to hold off the opponent, then before it expires exchanging it with role reversal. the big downside is they opponent will need an enchantment for role reversal to work. eyes everywhere let's you scry 1 each upkeep and it for 1 blue 5 colorless you exchange eyes everywhere with a non land perment. I'm trying it out now...kinda crazy...but is it crazy enough to work?

How is he dead against the first match with Mono Red? Three defenders, three life, and 5 attackers? You go down to one, use ugin or meteor golem to blow up the tin street Dodger, and still have a chance.
So does Ugin shut down every archetype except for mirror and monored, or am I missing something?

Great video! Ugin is so strong. Have you played around with the milling cards already? I tried several ones, but most of them were too slow to win consistently and quick. I came up with this Song of Creation deck that has two win conditions. Mill the opponent or Thassa's Oracle if you couldn't get Teferi's Tutelage into game early. Maybe you want to give it a try? Pig's mutate deck was something I believe I may have pioneered. Mine was Temur, but the wincon is to unmutate then Ultimatum into a big boar bull rush.

@@lesrestall807 what I'm saying is that it's pronounced like an 'Oo' sound like Oogin not a 'you' sound like Eugene. This is accordingly to how the English language works and is how everyone familiar with the game's lore pronounces it. The only other way I think may be appropriate is 'You-gin' with a hard 'g' sound like you say in 'begin'. I get it that when people pronounce it like "Eugene" (Yoo-gene) they may be making fun of it, which is fine, but it's incorrect.
