I just picked up that set about 3 months ago. They are not bad at all. After my discounts, it was right at $50. They're not the finest looking pliers, finish wise, but they should last a long time while being decently durable. They are perfect for the "at home" mechanic or a very solid choice for someone who's starting out as a professional. They offer a add on 4 peice set of smaller ones as well.

My grandson is enrolled in the komatsu program @ Oklahoma State. He has one more semester this summer and he’ll graduate with his associate degree. When he is home after each semester he works for Waukesha Pierce Inc. and makes a decent hourly rate while he is home. He tries real hard to stay off the tool truck and he has so far. So he goes to harbor freight all the time, he bought the 12 piece snap ring set during the 20% off sale during Memorial Day weekend. He said they work great. He has also bought the 56” Icon pry bar, he likes it a lot. Love the reviews. Keep up the good work. God bless.

If you haven't checked out the Knipex Precision Circlip pliers, it's definitely worth a look! Absolute best IMHO, and I've used them all. No comparison. They're forged with a separate spring steel pin hand inserted in each one. $225 for a set of 8 In/ex. You'll never go back.

Subscribed! Excellent video! I picked up the same set at HF on a super sale in May -- probably the same sale you guys went to -- for $30, but couldn't actually get to the store that day so I ordered it online and had to pay seven bucks for shipping. Still a great deal! That's the only time I'd ever ordered from HF online. I've been an ITC member for a long time, and absolutely love HF. I don't use snap-ring pliers all that often, and usually use some kind of hack method that destroys the ring in the removal process. LOL It'll sure be nice to have the right tool going forward. Thanks, guys, and I look forward to checking out your older videos and the new ones as you record them.

I bought those ICON snap ring pliers when they were on sale for $30. Before brands like those sold at Harbor Freight, if you were poor your only choice was junk tools that didn't last long.

the icon snap rings are technically thinner because the snap on has that big screw in the way

Great channel guys. Quick hint on focusing the camera shot. When focusing on something small, put your hand behind it. This tricks the camera to focus on the tool and not something bigger ... like you😊. That's why the one shot focused correctly (not the light). It was because Hunter's fingers forced the camera to focus on the tool tips. Keep up the awesome videos guys!

Put you hand up to make it focus. Put it RIGHT BEHIND the tool and the autofocus will bounce off your hand and pull the focus on the tool.

The newer Icon’s are US made, identical to the Mac, Proto, and Matco. I believe Imperial is the OEM. These are all quarter turn. Lang offers a set as well but they are the older style screw type.

Man I was so pissed I missed the sale on the ICON snap ring set back in May. I will have to wait until it goes on sale again because I will never by Snap-On because I just do not need that type of quality because I do not wrench every day. So Harbor Freight is fine with me and with ICON it is lifetime warranty. Strictly on looks, I prefer the ICON set over the Snap-On, but looks don't get the job done, in the end the best brand that works for you is the one you go with.

Used icon set for almost 2 years and an Astro set for years before…..used the snap on once with a very rusty snap ring and had to throw a pair of massive Slip jaw pliers over them and went to town…snap on set didn’t even bend so that week I got me a set….. if your new or don’t have all the tools you need for your job get the icon….. if they start to let you down or don’t work in certain applications upgrade to snap on (when on sale or eBay)

You guys are great, but I really dislike the clickbait title. Asking... Icon vs Snap-On, which is better... is absurd. Icon won't be better... the real comparison should be is Snap-on $460 better? Now that there are reasonable tool alternatives... I buy Gear Wrench ratchets and ratchet wrenches, Vessel Screwdrivers, Knipex pliers, and Icon everything else. If I break something or it doesn't perform well enough, I replace it with snap-on one tool at a time. Let's just say... it's been a long time since I've bought Snap-on.
