One of the easiest installs and some of the highest quality components I’ve ever seen for this oil catch can by Mighty Mouse! If you have a RAM you should consider it for sure!
👍🔥
thanks for the support, Brian!
Justin, the Mighty Mouse catch can was part of the build I did from Vengeance Racing last year. My 2016 Z06 ended up with 681/675 to the wheels, which is not massive, but I like the extra protection it provides. BTW, Love the XPEL PPF and ceramic coating on our C8 even though you were not the installer (because you were not our local company). Happy customer here! 💪🇺🇸
Sweet! That’s awesome to hear!
Thanks for the video. Just about to install mine. I had the bracket powdercoated red to match my truck. Seems easy enough.
No problem 👍 I thought about getting mine powdercoated to either black or red.
Nice catch can!
Why thank you! 😎
I just bought one for my supercharged siverado. Mainly for the crank case vent when under boost.
Always a good idea on any car in my opinion!
Great video, thank you for sharing! Do you happen to know the length of each of the 2 hoses after you cut them for the install?
Thank you. They weren't long, there's more hose sent than you actually need.
Some people complain about modern desiel engines having an EGR valve and carboning up the intake, just get a air oil seperator catch can, a popular modification in Austrialia. OEM don't because it's a maintence item that many people are not used to and it has to be done and at possibly irregular intervals.
Yup. Easy way to fix a problem. It looks cool, too!
Yes you do need one, especially if your using your car on a regular basis for performance. You dont want that oil burning on the piston at any time.
💯
Been thinking about adding one to mine but worried about warranty and dealership service department seeing it. I guess I can swap it back to factory pretty easy when taking in for any issues or warranty work/recalls.
Super easy to swap back if need be but with that said it’s unlikely they would void any warranty over this.
As always, these performance related videos of yours are more than educational to say the least. Plus, as soon as I say "Mighty Mouse" in your thumbnail, you had me. Why? Because back in the day, all my Vette's were not Big Blocks, they were Mouse Motors and were known as the Mouse that roared and I had a built 327 cubic inch mouse motor that was built for the quarter mile with 12.5 to 1 compression pistons. No fuel additives needed in that it ran on pump gas. Yup, Sunoco 260 pump gas. Wish I had hoarded that gas away back then. Lord only knows what it would be worth today and what kind of power the new generation engines would make. Heck, today's engines might even blow up using that gas. 🤣
Back to the Catch Can itself. I can't imagine any dealer ever recommending a Catch Can install. It just wouldn't say much for the manufacturer's engineering. I'm like you in that having one is certainly not going to damage the engine, so aside from the cost, what do we have to lose? It's already on my "To Purchase" list, but I have/had another brand of Catch Can in mind. I'm switching gears, no pun intended, to Mighty Mouse. I love the "little things," like the sight glass! 👍
Questions on the Mighty Mouse. I'm guessing these are brand/model specific? If so, I guess there are different brackets as well for differ cars, like our Vettes and then possibly generation specific? FWIW, I like your mounting bracket. I'd be tempted to highlight it with a red paint or red powder coating especially since you already have a touch of red on the engine from the factory.
Well, I see my timing is perfect. The end of your video and the end of my mug of Chock full O'nuts! Great upload Justin. 👍 Save the Wave 🙋♂
They are brand specific and they do make one for the ZR1 but it doesn’t have a fancy bracket like that, unfortunately. The only other one I know they make a bracket like this for is just a normal SRT hellcats.
I guess they'd have just their Catch Can though for a C6?
Yes most likely. The kit they make for the ZR1 uses existing bolt holes to mount. Likely the same for your C6.
Thanks again Justin. Would the install as far the hoses are concerned be different for a Dry Sump vs. a non-Dry Sump system? As you may remember, my GS is a Dry Sump.
It would be a slightly different install but still pretty easy. My ZR1 is a little bit harder since the pcv is under the super charger
What's your 6 month update on the catch can? Still happy with it? Any issues that you've found after using it a while? How much oil have you captured?
I'm on the fence between this at the Elite Engineering can...
Funny you ask, I was just filming it today! I caught a good bit of oil in there and it seems to be working and holding up very well!
@@HorsePowerObsessed Nice! I’ll look out for your update video 👍
I’m new to the TRX truck bought it used on the mighty mouse website. What package did you chose? Did you choose mild or wild to get the exact parts you got?
Congrats on the truck! You can get the mild setup. The wild is if you modify and have over 1,000 hp.
Ok thank you 👍
I got the Mild 1000 QC. A little different connections and they say to remove the spring and piston from passenger side PCV valve and then put it back with just the housing. Is this actually needed? And why?
Wow, I didn't know that. If they say to do it I would because that man knows his stuff!
Did you had to remove the piston and the spring of the PCV valve ?
No. Nothing else had to be removed that wasn't shown in the video.
Nice mod. There’s two versions on their site, the “Mild” one and the “Wild” one. Which one did you go with?
Thanks. Mild is what you want unless you have engine mods pushing you near 1000 hp.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Preciate it!
You’re welcome!
Oem quick connect option ? @HorsePowerObsessed
Yes I had that in the video.
Nicest Catch can I have seen.
Same! Really great quality!
does anyone know if this will still fit with the S&B air intake, have both ordered and its one of those oops moments on the 22 TRX
Still fits with the aFe intake so I would imagine it still will with the S&B too.
Question? Do you put Catch cans on you Normal Aspirated engines and if so did it catch anything? Why? because a guy put on on his 5.7 Tundra and it really didn't catch anything?
I did. I had one on my C8 Corvette and it caught a good bit (shown in the video). I feel they are cheap insurance on any engine.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Thanks for the reply
You’re quite welcome
You’re truck has 1K miles. Does this mod void/affect the warranty?
No. Worst case scenario, remove it.
Does this void the warranty of the truck?
No. Worst case just remove it before maintenance.
race truck!
🤘😎🤘
Does anyone here know if installing this on the truck will affect or voice the warranty ?
It should absolutely not void warranty.
2nd. 😊 BRB, need my Chock full O'nuts!
Heck yeah! Thanks for the support Peter!!
Unless you’re keeping your vehicle forever is this necessary… doubt it
Definitely is even if you’re keeping the car for a few years not necessarily forever.
@@HorsePowerObsessed I love your videos first and foremost and I’m a fan… I just don’t personally see the benefit to catch cans. It’s not an expensive part, but the overall value is hard to see and feel even when talking HP. As a car enthusiast I don’t see why anybody who had a few bucks to spare wouldn’t put one on…. But definitely nothing that is likely needed.
I've got a MM gen5+, it's overpriced.
Quality wise, I disagree. Seems to be on par for how nicely built it is.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Doesn't have enough engineering in it for the price. Here is 18 pages on how a pcv system should work. www.conceptualpolymer.com/Documents/pcvor.pdf
Maybe you should make your own and see how much it costs you.
