    What I'm digging about this plugin is that they didn't do the usual thing of trying to make it look like an amp. That's pretty refreshing to see. Granted most plugins are good at giving you a visual cue as to what it's supposed to be emulating, but it's nice to see a break from that trope. Sounds great!

    You mentioning that your partially color blind got me thinking: Have you ever worked with (in the studio setting) a musician with an overt disability? How could engineers adjust to make their studios more accessible for disabled musicians. I recently read about the vocalist from Possessed, and how he his paralyzed from the chest down, yet still tours and records. Tony Ionmi, as well as others, have lost fingers or digits and had to adjust they're playing styles and tones to make up for it. Drummers have lost limbs, as well. I even follow a guitarist on YT with (what I think is) advanced MS, who had to create a unique and "backwards" style of playing, making him a pretty great rhythm guitarist.

    • @TheOligoclonalBand
      @TheOligoclonalBand Před 2 lety +4

      I work with accessibility at my job and making things accessible depends a lot on the disability and needs. Everything you can do helps a ton.
      I think good lighting and high contrast on labeling between text and background color makes a lot of difference. Have your cables organized out of the way and not lying randomly on the floor so that people don’t trip and fall. A guitar cable in a bright orange or white makes it easier to identify and stand out from patch cables you typically only plug in once. Colored cables according to their use is not the worst idea in any case.
      Accessibility can be as easy or as complex as you want it to be. Stairs can be a hassle for those with balance problems or difficulty walking. You don’t have to have everything on one level, but make steps visible. Or have something to sit down if someone doesn’t want to or can’t stand up.
      There are a thousand things you can do but honestly, every little bit helps. If you make something accessible for others you very likely will benefit from that too.

    • @russellzauner
      @russellzauner Před 2 lety +3

      people with disabilities have learned to work with them and they won't let themselves (survival habits) get out anywhere where they don't feel like they have the support or the resources to self-care/egress should they encounter...difficulties.
      With me, it's seizures that can take over parts of my body while I'm awake - I can verify that anyone suffering a full grand mal is in EXTREME pain but just can't communicate it, I'm generally screaming until not my only voice but eventually my lungs give out.
      Trust that anyone with a condition at risk of ... difficulties ... has at least 3 backup plans in place and they will *let you know in no uncertain terms* what their needs are if they have *any* inkling they'll be stranded out somewhere, writhing and screaming on the floor.
      That being said...the best thing you can do is to ALWAYS ASK. Have signage, make sure there are a LOT of visual cues in case someone's disability is not *obvious* (which means they've done a lot of work to try and present a normal facade and/or it's an intermittent/transient/triggered condition/disorder) It's not a personal thing, it's a professional accommodation above ADA that will make your customers more comfortable, and generally better mood and higher productivity or feelings of "getting stuff done". Anyone would understand and most would appreciate the low-effort courtesy to ask a couple times along the way if there is anything they've found missing or something reasonable to help the session stay in a "we're getting shit done and having a good time" mode.
      In a lot of cases, maximizing accessibility can be mostly or 95% achieved simply by creating space, getting stuff stowed and out of the way, the way motion flows through your footprint, making sure that open space in the human areas is structured smartly and workflow arranged so people focusing on different and multiple tasks aren't falling over each other just because shit's in dumb places and layout effort was lazy.
      There's always some crowding in shared spaces, especially if the sessions are going well, but there's a difference between an orgy and a clusterfuck.
      Both are crowds but only one is really enjoyable. ;-)

    I will probably be hated by everybody in the comment section now but I absolutely cannot stand that sizzling sound or tone every of the plugins have. It doesn't matter if it's neural, this, amplitube, guitar rig, pod farm, lepous etc. Same with IR's. To me there is such a difference in sound between a real amp and cab combination or an emulation. I am really trying to be open minded and I watch such videos on purpose so maybe there might be that one plugin/vst that blows my mind but until now putting an e906 in front of my v30 engl cab with the laney ironheart on top of it... there just nothing like it. I know tone is just a matter of preference and great video by the way, good, fast walkthrough. Your work here was solid. It's probably just me, but with different headphones, studio speakers and even considering CZcams's sound compression. This is not for me :) Have a great day though.

    Damn that is sweet! JST and neural DSP got some real competition! and yes definitely worth 150 as well! but with most amp sims being $150 then $20-40 on sale i guess they just figured to cut the BS and list it what it would go for on sale?

    EDIT2: Wow..... i just started the trial, its absolutely fantastic. Already the origin sound, that is set when you start the amp for the first time, is amazing. Really great, ill surely buy it. Really fat sound. My concern that it would sound too modern was proven wrong. It has exactly that way of fatness that it makes it great for all power metal stuff.
    ---
    Looking good :-) I really prefer those single amp plugins a lot. I own quite a few more expensive tools, like the Helix Native or Guitar Rig. But so far i stuck with Audiority Valvestate Clone. It was 30 Euro but it beats all of the named ones, when it comes to certain sound preferences. I own the real Marshall Valvestate 8080 even but the clone is just as good. Basically unbelievable that a 30 Euro tool sounds nearly like a 1200 Euro Amp (back then).
    This one looks like another one of those easily affordable beasts. Thanks for showing. Maybe a tad bit too modern for my old school stuff that i usually play (everything from Metallica, over Megadeth to Death (the band)). But the part around 9.50 sounds great enough for that too. 40 Dollar. hmm :-) Im tempted.
    Edit: oh, there is trial even! Gonna try that right now.

    Thanks and FU Glenn for a great demo! I heard some surprisingly good tones. I bought the Aurora Rhino plugin from your link, but just had a thought (impressive for a guitarist, I know). You demo'd it using your own IR. Is there any way to get a hold of your IR that you used? I'd be happy to pay for it. Inquiring (lazy) minds wanna know.

    I'm sold on the Gate alone. One that comes with Bias FX 2 is mad hissy no matter how you set it. It seems to be a huge unimprovement from Bias FX 1 which users mention didnt have this issue. I don't even play high gain.

    When the interface has a decent FET driven instrument input feeding a good plugin suite, I find all my outboard guitar gear can become redundant, e.g., my Plexi replica build and reactive load, or various amp modellers I have had. The amp does have a thing going on that the models do not quite capture, but once it goes through the load and IRs into DAW the difference is so slight it is not worth the hassle, or wear and tear on the amp -- at least if I am just practicing and noodling etc (plus the Plexi pummels the load box, so there is the risk factor too).
    I still keep going back to wanting one of those 2525H mini Silver Jube heads though. Nostalgia I think. I tried one of the originals when I was an '80s kid and wanted one ever since. By the time I had money for flash amps, it was the '90s and racks were the thing, so never got the Jube.
    In Amplitube 5 I am liking the Silver Jube with a TS808 the most though, although I think those Mikko plugins sound slightly more realistic. There is one left in all of NZ new. Email in my inbox. Put half down and pay the rest off over the next few weeks. I dunno. New shiny things :D

    • @aquilarossa5191
      @aquilarossa5191 Před 2 lety

      P.S. I find the key to getting plugins sounding good is levels into DAW from the interface and then the input level in the amp plugin, so the amp model sees the kind of levels it needs. With that and good IRs, most of the recent amp plugins out there sound pretty good.
      I really doubt that buying Helix or Neural outboard gear is going to sound much different than plugin versions, providing the interface has a decent input and the levels are set optimum for the plugins.
      Plugins are not so plug and play though. They require a bit more messing around with levels and stuff to get the best out of them. In theory, if the signal quality is as good and the algorithms are too, then the end result should be on par with the best outboard modelling gear. Plugins just lack the switching, I/O, and portability etc.
      That's what I have to keep reminding myself every time some fancy modelling gadget is tempting me. I don't actually need it these days, because I only play into DAW and active monitors due to noise constraints. My trusty little 8 core Ryzen 3700x CPU has more DSP ability than any of the modellers out there.
      My interface is an Audient iD14. I compared its FET instrument input to using direct boxes running to XLR inputs of the interface. I prefer the instrument input. It sounded better to my ears at least.
