I love the chief's dialogue of "I don't, but I want to." It shows that he cares for the weapon.
Well...she's his kid...
Fans look to Chief and Cortana as akin to a romantic couple, and in a lot of ways, they were emotionally. The weapon can't be Cortana though there's enough similarities, but like Chief, the weapon is treated as something to be used...just like him before his reputation really took off.
So yeah...she's *their* kid
I love the difference between Chief's relationship with the older Cortana and the newer Cortana. The original felt like two people who loved each other but couldn't be together. This relationship feels like a father learning to love a daughter he didn't know he had.
From a fandom perspective, I agree. Chief and Cortana are like a romantic couple. While Chief and Weapon are like father and daughter (a daughter he didn't know he and Cortana had), and he's trying to bond with her like any father should, while struggling in the process because of the similarities her mother had.
I love how in the span of roughly 20 minutes she goes from "Why don't you trust me?" to "How can you trust me?" then Chief's response coupled with the music just drives it all home.
and sort of the thing that if Cortana hadn't done it on her own, he'd probably have gone along anyway. He's not programmed to resist, after all, he's programmed to kill.
One of the best moments of the whole campaign by far.

@@michaelmaier7262not wrong. The most emotional non-death moment. Halo Infinite had a lot of good moments where they used emotion to great extent.
Of all the six main Halo games released so far, Infinite is probably my favorite. This scene alone is one reason why, out of several other reasons too.

Best part of Halo Infinite. 343 redeemed themselves with this game. Second favorite after Halo 3. Nothing I love more than good story telling and this game does that incredibly.

A lot of people say otherwise. But I guess you're right. Though I'll be expecting more from them and to hope they'll do it right this time.
People just hate 343 because of Multiplayer.
I think multiplayer is not worth playing. I personally prefer Campaign, Firefight and Spartan Ops

Campaign wise...yes. near perfection. Multiplayer however, is the equivalent of willingly eating rotten fruits.

I'm not gonna lie, this scene actually made my heart skip a beat. It also reminds me how I need to start trusting again. Its hard to damn near impossible, but I am trying and I want it to to work, just like the Chief.

I love that twist as I knew The Weapon was a copy of Cortana. However, Weapon is better than OG Cortana. She's cute, has a personality, and has a heart.
Cortana did too, but The Weapon is a bit more bubblier, whereas the OG was snarky funny.
I agree because while playing game she actually enjoys roaming around where cortana felt more serious

Chief's line saying "Was it? I don't even know anymore." hits me harder going through my divorce. Especially the last line of "I don't. But I want to."...
At least you don't have an Atriox, who would never stop trying to kill chief, just on the principle of 'i know she left you, but that's her problem, and yours is this hammer'.
Just because she's a copy of cortana doesn't mean she destroyed the brutes home world or killed those spartan fours cortana did all that not her.
But it’s similar to one finding out that they are an exact clone of hitler and the reason that nobody has been trusting them is because of it. Even if it’s not her fault, it would be emotionally devastating
halsey would have too, so she needs to try to be better than either of them - remember, at this point, it's both known that cortana is halsey, and that halsey killed billions to get her way, and would do again, any day of the month, even as a human.

At 5:39 it was set up perfectly, the weapon should have simply responded with " I do know how to pick em". Cementing that she is Cortana. She heard all of the dust an echoes Cortana left behind. Including her halo 3 opening monolog. It would have been a perfect capstone to an already emotional scene
Eh, I don’t think that would have worked out, cause the weapon was basically paired with Chief, compared to cortana actually researching everything and anything about John and picking him
No, that would not have been fitting. She may be a clone, but gotta factor in nature vs nurture. She has different experiences from Cortana, so her personality - while similar to Cortana's- is still markedly different.
That music....I felt....something....everything.

I love “the weapon”… her mannerisms are super adorable and she has this naïveté that makes her feel like a child… and I very much prefer the relationship these two have, they feel more like a father and an adopted child than the romantic tension between the chief and Cortana.
This campaign truly was something special. It was proof that 343 had learned from the mistakes of 4 and 5 and finally made something unique, something just as good as Halo 2 and Reach that moved the ball Forward instead of trying to imitate the past
especially Atriox's response, because he has honour even when he knew it would kill his home. It makes the banished different - they aren't based on religion or high charity like the covenant were, they're based on fighting because they had an enemy and no reason to ever give up.
I think they learn it already. It was not a mistake. 4 and 5 belongs to infinite.
I actually like Weapon way more than i ever liked Cortana.

Remember, we only won because she is worse than she thought she was - Halsey IS cortana, and was judge jury and executioner on her too.
Edit: also atriox knew exactly what i would cost, and he stood with the banished, forever, always. Because he has honour, no prophets, no truth. He would never bend or kneel, because it's actual honour, and no matter the consequence he'd do all of it again, for the same reasons
Maybe her new name can be Andromeda.
This scene is very heart warming but...
Clicking was never Cortanas "Thing" lol; I know they needed something to make them seem similar but I don't recall Cortana clicking frequently in any of the Halo games
Cortana always snapped her fingers when she did something like opened a door or activated things
@@iphone777 Unless I'm suffering from memory loss she definitely didn't, I replayed the whole franchise a couple of weeks ago and she definitely did not click her fingers often, u got any clips I can look at?
@@Henlak- Play it again. She does often. The first that comes to mind is halo 1 with the index. And this IS a spiritual reboot so it's beautiful that they brought it back

Now she understands why Chief tried to delete her, to have her follow protocol. She was supposed to die so she wouldn't become Cortana 2.0. Only now when she turns away from him and sits down waiting for her execution does he realize....she's NOT Cortana at all. She's "The Weapon"
Yeah, she's going to have similarities, but every experience from her birth to now is *different* from that of Cortana's. She came from a different point in time of Catherine Halsey's life when her brain was scanned to create her. This who game is full of things that Cortana never experienced, never had.
And what's worse for John?
He's treating her like how ONI treated him and his fellow SPARTAN-II: disposable weapons. Not something you should care about because...they're not human, but machines.
That's why even though he can't trust her...he can't let her go.

As an rvb fan I was waiting for her to say you cant copy an ai at any second
NGL, this scene almost made me cry when The Weapon said 'I'm HER?!' and then 'Will I d-do what she did? Became what she became? Am I that already?'
Her panic at that realization is both adorable and breaks whatever little heart I have left. I played God of War 4 (2018) before this and recalled what Kratos told Atreus. 'No. We can make our own choices. You will not be who I was.'

The new AI is so meh compared to Cortana. Her chemistry with Chief was insane!
Why is it meh? as far as I know like how Cortana was like a mother to Master Chief the Weapon is like a Daughter to him,in other words shes kind of like a child considering all those moments that exist featuring her in it such as when you go down what I like to call the "halo 2 flood Shaft" which she says woo-hoo and laughs as you go down with her once down she asks if you want to do it again. Its Moments like these that show that the Weapon despite being a copy of Cortana is still her own AI she does have her differences that set her apart from Cortana and I think we can appreciate whats to come of her as she in my point of view has brought some life to the game
