Story 1: Okay, i'm not sure where the OP is, but i know where i live, you could've sued this Karen boss, or at least reported her to the labour board. That is literally endangering your health and life and she very much could've been liable if anything bad had happened to the OP or to anyone else. Collapsing from exhaustion is bad enough but things could've been worse if the OP didnt recover. Also, i would've charged her with assault for putting her hands on you too. Thats just so unacceptable. That Karen is a walking liability and something shouldve been done about her. Also, i throw mud at that one doctor for not doing much to help out the OP. He could've done more to help the OP, but didnt.
Story 2: Wow.... here is another place that needs to be reported to the labour board. This place should've been shut down and probably sued. The OP's mom and grandma are absolute legends. I probably wouldve done the same thing. Hopefully this casino got shut down and hopefully people that go to this casino will stop going.
Story 3: Regulars like Steve here are big reasons why your regulars arent your best customers. Always remember the 4 great words of "Right To Refuse Service". Also, if anything had happened to Steve, the OP and the bar would've been liable for anything. The bar needs to ban this guy, and sooner the better.
Story 4: Penny pinchers and micromanagers are the absolute worst bosses to work for.... especially in restaurants. These bosses here are absolute losers and im surprised that anybody would ever work there. The moment i was told about the tips, the days off and the owners background, i would've quit and ran for the hills. This is definitely not a place i would ever want to work at. Also, this isn't a 'somewhat' hostile work environment... its a VERY hostile work environment.
Story 5: Wow, this family drama could become its own daytime soap opera. I say that the OPs parents need to go "scorched earth" here and do their own thing for Thanksgiving. Both sides of grandparents here sound absolutely insufferable and i know that i wouldn't want to be spending any kind of holiday with them, regardless of any tradition. Those events sound terrible to me.
*Story 1:* What is wrong with this boss? Calling a worker lazy and ungrateful. Every worker has his/her limits what they're physically, mentally, emotionally able to do, and they'll eventually collapse. I'm glad OP is no longer working for this demanding boss.
1) Why did the OP not file a formal complaint with the labor board.
2) Also a labor board complaint too.She has a minimum of two legal issues that she could win on.
Last story, if it was me I'd be heading to Florida to see my daughter for Thanksgiving instead of either grandparents

I can relate to stories 1&4 personally, story 1 I work for Walmart and one of the assistant managers once told a coworker in private that he wanted to see us work to the point of exhaustion, and he told me that if I didn't want to work to go work somewhere else. As for story 4 I work for a restaurant called Smitty's for a few months and they treated me bad, I was hired as a host after Christmas 2018 and for 2 weeks I did that a plus a long list on receipt paper of other things; a few weeks into the job they closed for renovations and I had to wait 2 weeks until I got my schedule, and I got it I saw host/bus one day and dishwasher the next. To make it worst they never told me in person or writing nor had a conversation with me about it, they laid me off in February 2019 and for a few months everything was good; then they called asking if I could come and do some shifts and I literally got throw into fire, luckily I was going for some training for a different career path and I never gave them my availability so when I walked out in April 2019 and never looked back.

The mom should of sued for wrongful termination
For the mom and grandma one I hope at least the mom talked to an employment lawyer because I’m pretty sure that was grounds for wrongful termination.(I know it depends on where this happened)

Actually, with the second story, what they did to the mother violates the law for one it happened at work meaning the business is legally required to cover it. It was a no call no show because it happened at work. She went to the hospital because of medical reasons thereforeif the casino fires are for becomes a crime because you’re not legally allowed to fire someone for going to the hospital when their life is in danger all of those up to multiple felonies and can get the casinos shut down and I guarantee you the whole changing the 90 day thing is a criminal act as well because unless the state approves it, they cannot do that

Story 5: Sounds a lot like my family's drama. Only on my Dad's side of things he's got a Nightmare of a sister and a mother who didn't even care about him after his dad died. And for my mom's side it was Marriage problems with the husbands of my Aunts (My mom has four sisters whilst my dad has two sisters). After about ten years of the drama Me and Dad essentially want to hide away from them and that's still true with an aunt on my mom's side.
After buying our house, we started hosting both sides at Thanksgiving for 30ish people

In 2021 my younger son wanted to host Thanksgiving at their new house. DIL parents were going to their youngest daughter for Thanksgiving. It was supposed to be just our side of the family. Well Covid intervened. My son asked if his in-laws and BIL could join us. 😊 We all adore his in-laws so yes please. ♥️ The FIL and I however do not share BD celebrations. We were born on the same day and year. I just delay since I don’t care and it’s easier since it’s also a National holiday 🙄

They are legally required to cut this man off and they didn't. And they did it more than once then they allowed him to go without knowing that he didn't have any transportation. Maybe it's different there but in Canada this place could lose its liquor license.....
