What's your favourite trackstand trick? Let us know in the comments!
Being able to do a track stand.
Just say no to track stand
I have no track stand tricks, but the more I track stand, the flatter ground I can track stand on.
Is it possible to trackstand on rollers?
Not really a trick, and before I watched this channel I didn't know the term track stand but mine is quite practical.
I pull up at lights, stop without wobbling or rolling and then ride away when they are green. Success rate pretty high, got used to it in my days with toe grips, I so prefer cliplesss.
Most dramtic fail, on way home from ballet class, feet used to being toes to the side. Lights changed, I stopped and simply fell over, still no wobbling, just body not ready for inline legs. Was new to clipless at the time, only had for around 6 months, very glad to find you really do disconnect if you fall off.
Legend has it Dan's not in this video because he's still doing the track stand so they don't have his complete footage.
Grinding to a halt is his speciality
âïžđ€Ł must be Si, that's totally a Si joke
@@gcn Anyway when he does fall he has plenty of practice.
Nah he's had too many mineral waters to balance.
A bit unfair on Connor, his centre of gravity is somewhere near cumulous clouds.
Tall order, man. Tall order. đ€Ł
Cirrus to be precise
Bet he is able to see the curvature of the earth...
Too cool and too high, and will be able disprove the flat earth theory, but too far to check if he has a flat tyre, then?
@@gcn But he can hang on to a satellite, out of camera shot
Mannon has just taken over GCN and is awesome
That's a funny way of spelling "brother in law Nigel."
She's a great addition to the team!
@@gcn YES SHE IS!! (all in capitals...)
She is actually a great substitution to the team, but still Ollie, Hank, Si are imp members
me: can barely track stand and is proud of himself...
si: starts Juggling.
For the older presenters like Si and Dan, we have saw them trackstanding on the 2017 eBay bikes challenge on Alta Badia, so they could've improved since that...
I think Si had a lot of practice runs before the final shot...
@@gcn Si!?! Plastic grass?!? Oh noooooo.....
Very generous of JPow not to pull that one out during his Game of Bike with Blake.
I was so impressed with the opening of the beer bottle until the camera zoomed out :)
Haha, she fooled a lot of us!
Si definitely gets my respect purely for ambition
He never lacked ambition during his pro career...
I like how Manon casually switches to the tops while surrounded by stone pots and gravel.
No fear!
And clipped in!
How about the Matt Stephens twist: how long can you track stand without managing to clip.
I think Jeremy won, hands down, picking his shoes up from the ground. Amazing!
JPow and Manon are just too cool for school, I want to see more of the presenters competing. Also, I wish manon would show us some of that jpow flair because she def can do it!
#Lasty
Thank you, Manon, for showing #Lasty the respect he deserves.
#Lasty
Forever in our hearts đ
Is Lasty still at GCN
@@deswhite8268 I hope so , haven't seen Mark Beaumont in a while either
Last man standing
Ah, pour one out for The Brick. We miss ya, Lasty.
Everyone was impressive! The only thing I can do while track standing is: fall.
Really got a kick out of you guys. :-) JPOW, of course, had me waking up the house laughing.
Glad you liked it!
That was so fun. I love this type of video presentation. It's great seeing all of you contributing from your own home. Great great humor.
Glad you liked it Mitchell!
Was I the only one waiting for Nigel to help Conor somehow??
đ€đđđ
Raphael Soares Nigel just off screen, low key heckling him the whole time b
Brother in law Nigel you mean
If you mean by "help", BIL coming along and distracting him, then, yes. ;-)
We banned Nigel from helping this time, otherwise Connor would still be trackstanding
Wow, I'm happy to track stand for traffic lights. You all have shown me another world of skills. JPOW for the win! Absolute legend on this!!
Hank trackstanding next to plants is a recipe for disaster...I'll give him points for living on the edge
He takes everything to the extreme
Without spilling good brew, we sing "Living On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi. â
Presenting a video on trackstanding, whilst track standing, clipped in. Pretty awesome skills.
Just wondering how often Si has to vacuum his lawn đ
Me too! LOL
Yeah, looks like astro turf.
I totally thought the beer was legit and lost my mind! Hahaha. Great video! Awesome tekkerz GCN team. Might have to try this in my garden, my lockdown skill!
Haha!
Manon's bike is mint. A perfect specimen.
Si was the best! Impressive stuff. Thanks for the tips. Iâll try track standing :)
Did a test when I was youngster and then after 30 minutes my legs started to get tired.. nowadays skill is still there and using it at every traffic light etc not to put foot on the ground. Easy.
MANON YOU'RE AWESOME! đ
Much harder for Conor considering his centre of mass sits way higher up.
Indeed!
It's quite the contrary, think of a tall bike or balancing a broom on your hand.
I nearly that would have been a "strip trackstand" from JPow... almost a tease :D
... but yes, RESPECT THE BRICK.
#Lasty #respecttheBrick
Where hank's footage while trackstand in his double decker bike?
I was doing a track stand at the corner of Sunset Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway. Two motorcycles pulled up next to me and I looked over to say hello. Much to my surprise and delight it was Neil Peart from RUSH and John Wesley from PORCUPINE TREE!
It really made me fell for it! Great job!
Spot on the cross rider... dem handling skillz
Very impressive skilllllz
I can remember clearly the Herne Hill Easter meet in the early 70s. Track stands of 30 minutes ++ not unheard of!
Connor is an absolute legend!
Wow!! Jeremy killed it
Anybody else miss Matt for a video like this one? I can just hear his laugh as he lasts for 0:00.1
That was fun to watch đđ», but Iâm not going to risk trying because Iâm useless at it đ
goodness. I learned to track stand in traffic at stoplights. And I had no idea it was a thing. I just got tired of unstrapping and re-strapping my clips, so I tried balancing while waiting for the light to change.
Sy - Points for cool juggling attempts!; Mannon- Another beer and you would have had me fooled!; J-Pow - Who needs to track stand when you're waiting for the other shoe to drop?; Conor - I wanted to find out about your porridge toppings, darn it!; Hank - The secret to a better kitchen track stand is a tighter foam on your latte - and you're not fooling anyone - I saw you trying to "palm" your handlebar to stay up on two wheels! ; )
That road and background Conor is in looks very nice.
Check out the Longest Lap. Or Anna Meares totally owning Victoria Pendleton. Great stuff.
Thatâs a nice bit of countryside there Manon
As I don't have a Wahoo Kickr Bike I would be able to try. I didn't even do GMBN's track stand challenge for the same reason. I''ve been mountain bike for 20 years and still can't track stand. Well for at least 5 seconds.
For track standing at a stoplight in city traffic a key element is to give yourself a little space to creep if neccessary since you're just trying to not unclip and not dap rather than showing off. Actually you are showing off for the people in cars since most of them are completely incapable of doing a trackstand.
Well done guys..
These guys are hilarious hahaha
JPOW doing track stands is the content that I came here for bros!
BroBro Zoeller I was waiting for Dans đ
More often than not, I let GCN teach me stuff I already can do đ
Nice Tom Dixon Pendants Hank!
4:23 Jeremy is going places!
The rear mech on Simon's bike!
Maybe the problem is that Si can't juggle
He's certainly giving juggling a good go - presenting, filming, parenting and trying to get fitter in 4 weeks - all at the same time!
Global Cycling Network Si is a legend, he and Dan are the Eric and Ernie of GCN. itâs just a good job he doesnât have to mow the lawn in his back garden as well
WOW! THAT's SOME SKILLLLLLLL :0
Ali Clarkson has the best tutorial on track standing. Following his method has me stretching to the minutes rather than moments.
Si: "No bikes were harmed in the making of this video."
No grass either. Doesn't he know the height of manliness is having a decent petrol lawn mower!
i once stood on a track for 30 minutes...that counts right?
Mad skills from J Pow đ
Love GCN!
And, Jeremy is BOSS here!!!!
J Pow his skills are awesome.
This is actually useful
I vote Si, as even juggling when doing a track stand for a couple of seconds involves so much!
You guys all have sweet houses!
5:23 Lmao I thought it was a lemon
Haha!
Hank has a very nice place.
Hank's parents*
She's too sweet! and cracking a half decent beer...
Opening a beer whilst track standing? It's the winner for most of us!
Dan's tried opening mineral waters but his skills aren't quite up to it yet
Manon the Queen!
I did a track stand for 7 minutes once, on slight gradient and my lead leg was jellied when I eventually fell off....
I can't decide between Si or Hank! đ€
the guy at 3:30 sounds like the vampire(Richmond) from "The IT Crowd"
If I don't race on track why should I learn how to track stand??
When I stop at the lights and unclip, occassionaly another rider pulls up in front of me, track stands and wobbles out into the intersection. Why not just unclip behind the line and wait for the lights, clip in then ride on?
JPow, well done!!
Jeremy is a legend and I think Manon may just have cheated! Well we didnt see it did we now Manon :)
"Not really a track stand" - My arse!
That caption should read "So much more than just a track stand"!
Rest of you just got schooled.
Mannon â„ïžâŠïž
Mannon has the best technique
Manon for the win!
other presenters: making coffee, juggling, doing wheelies
conor: PORRIDGE
Hey! Can you do a top 10 on best bike races available to view for free on youtube? Would be brilliant for these times
Came for the bike video, ended up only noticing Si wearing raw selvedge denim. đđ»
Hey GCN I am looking for a new pare of cycling gloves mostly for touring en gravel riding, what is a great brand to look into on a budget, I definitely donât want to spend more than ÂŁ25.
They can only "officially" recommend sponsored brands or their own merch, if they have a sponsor that sells them, which they do. so just look down at the sponsors list in the video description. most CZcamsrs don't have this limitation, they get paid "per video" but GCN looks to have a more traditional deal with their sponsors which includes an exclusivity clause. Sam Pilgrim says straight up in his videos that he gets paid by his sponsors whenever he shows their products and logos in a video. So that's the type of contract he has.
What I don't like about this kind of contract is it then makes their "reviews" and recommendations meaningless or at least only half truths because they don't want to lose the sponsorship. Compare to tech CZcamsr Marques Brownlee who definitely doesn't hold back how he really feels about a product, and will rip into companies like Samsung and Apple indiscriminately, because that helps them produce better products in the future.
Me personally, I don't go for cycling specific gloves because I want safety colors and reflective fingers. When I stick my hand out to signal, I want a driver to see it, day or night. especially the all important "đ" which only works if the fingers (at least the tips) and knuckles are reflective. So far I've only found a couple of brands that are reflective in the correct way. but the quality isn't very good
JPow though hahahaha legend
This is something I need to practice so watch out on my vids for broken bones đđ
Think it might help if you could actually juggle first Si.... Love Mr Powers, he's got the skillz
Hank should attempt a 24 hours track challenge đ
Manon is the best!!
Simon: *sprays balls in WD40*
Some strategically placed trees for scale beside Conor
At least we know if Si has to find new work, it wonât be in a circus...đ
Everyone else: Safety First
Hank: Wheres the boiling water
J Pow.. champ for sure.
Manon is perfect , but, off topic slightly, what are those boots Si wears?
I can almost see my house from yours!
JPow - BOOM!
It was my first time seeing Jeremy not smiling. :O And also where is Ollie?
I've always tired but I've always fail so I gave up and I don't wear clip ons so don't need to keep unclipping
Jpowâs totally counts and is the best!
My dear lass Manon,
Legend also has it that the real reason why that Pashley Picador bent on the braking challenge was because Lasty did his trackstand for far TOO LONG. đ
JP is THE BEST!!
Hey GCN, when will you publish a full video about Conner's favorite porridge recipes?
Good question, we'll ask Conor
