She was an angel that went back to heaven. She left her songs here for us.
Olivia the most sold female singer before Madonna so ķeep listen to Physical, Xanadu, Suddenly more❤
As a preteen soon to be a gay teen, Olivia was my first. 🤍❤️🤍
I was stupid in love with this woman as a boy and remain so to this day even as a gay man. I was lucky enough to see her live twice, once in Vegas and once in London, and yes she sounded just as good live dispite being a dacade apart. So many great songs Hopelessly Devoted To You, Please Mister Please, Twist of Fate and her biggest hit Physical, which was number 1 in the US billboard 100 for 10 weeks, a feat few have acheived. She was the biggest selling artist that year beating Michael Jackson.
As far as i remember 'Physical" was the biggesr single of the WHOLE '80s decade in the USA!Plus a 10 weeks no1 Billboard smash!
Someone got the date wrong because this was released in 1980. It's also from the Xanadu soundtrack. This was one of her biggest hits, it hit #1 for 4 weeks.
Every 70's boy's crush!!!
Chase, she was every guy's crush back in the 70's & 80's. Especially mine!!! Watch Grease & see her talents.
Voice 'light',etherial, just one of a kind.Olivia and Agnetha of Abba here in Europe were by far the most popular blond singing sweethearts of the '70s/early '80s.And these girls could SING without 'wired' tricks and autotune.Today's female vocalists should listen learn and respect such real talents whose voices were so special, with a solid personal identity and so hard to find.
Thank you for listening to one of, if Not the most beautiful, woman in the world. Incredible singer and even more of an incredible kind loving giving person. She also was a strong strong woman. RIP ONJ. Our pop princess and Goddess of our hearts.
I'd recommend "Sam (Live 1982)". This performance really displays her vocal abilities.
YES YES YES!!
Olivia Newton John was a HUGE star in the 70s and 80s. She was America's sweetheart. She has a great discography to explore. She had a long string of hits from the early 70s and into the 80s. I like "A Little More Love", "Hopelessly Devoted To You", "Suddenly", and "Have You Never Been Mellow". I was a kid in the 70s and remember hearing her on my clock radio when I did my homework at night.
Olivia was the hugest solo sweetheart of the mainstream pop musicverse of the whole '70s early '80s era long before Madonna and Taylor and IMO with a better voice than the 2 of them.Btw Madonna thanked her and J.Travolta for the inspiration around the time she was filming the "Hung Up" video.
Australian and never lost her accent. In Australia she will always be loved as she was world wide.
This was part of the soundtrack to 1980's "Xanadu". She and ELO & The Tubes & Gene Kelly did the soundtrack. The movie was bonkers but the soundtrack was amazing.
Chase, check out her MASSIVE hit "Physical". It dominated the planet.
R.I.P. Olivia Newton-John.
We only watched that for the first time last week! And 'bonkers' is exactly how we described it! 😂Having said that... could be my new favourite musical!🤣
Such a classic. Another iconic voice - so beautiful! RIP Livvy!
It was 1980 for the movie XANADU as far as I know, not 1978
This woman was very talented and special. You can feel every word that always puts me in a great mood.
Olivia Newton John is my favorite artist. My favorite song of hers is Twist of Fate!
Next try the smash groundbreaking duet with John Travolta from the GREASE movie 'You Are The One That I Want" to taste a bit of the thrill of it.
If you want to really hear her voice in the rafters, check out Please Don’t Keep Me Waiting. Landslide is a banger, too.
ONJ was as real, beautiful and lovely as it gets inside and out. Rest in peace.
Great reaction mate - Olivia was a true Australian princess RIP ONJ
You have a huge catalog of Newton-John hits to uncover yet!
You should check out her "Hopelessly Devoted to You" from the film Grease. "Let me be There" and "If you Love Me Let Me Know" were huge 70s crossover hits for her, charting in both Pop and Country.
This song was released in 1980 for the movie "Xanadu". Not 1978. It was #1 for 4 weeks in late 1980.
She's performing to a track here. Her voice is deceptively light on many recordings like this one, but she's actually quite powerful live. There's a live version on YT somewhere, and you can witness her voice for what it really is, which is remarkable.
Yo I love the reaction to so much fun
I was 13 when this came out and i remembered the midnight special
I believe it was 1980
Listen to her song "Twist of fate", wich is on the Stranger Things soundtrack!
It may be a "live" video, but that's the studio version of the song.
Chase, you gotta give Olivia's 'The Rumour' (Shep Pettibone Remix) Long version a go! When I was DJing way back when, it was an absolute guaranteed bangin' floor-filler! 🤗
This song was released in May of 1980. I know because I saw the movie in the theater's it comes from, "Xanadu"...
One of her more upbeat songs is I need love. One of her more popular ones though was hopelessly devoted to you and I honestly love you
Magic was from 1980 from the movie Xanadu also from 1980 not 1978 they made a mistake with that date on the tv-channel. If You want high notes from Olivia then please listen to her other songs "Please Don't Keep Me Waiting", "Compassionate Man", Big and Strong" and "Boats Against The Current"
Chase, check out the ONJ Special with ABBA and
Andy G8bb
A monumental coexistence.
Not 1978 but 1980 plus another no1 USA smash for our Olivia and the fab XANADU Soundtrack.
"The perfect lady, beautiful, with a touch of sophisticated australian class, her spandex pants in Grase inspired me to compose "da you think I´m sexy" " Rod Stewart
" The perfect technical voice for pianos and pianissimos, three and a major third octaves, breathy techniques, warm, perfect pitch even in falsettos and whistle voice, form below contralto to higher than soprano, singing Jazz, Bossa, Middle Age songs, Arias, pop, country" Vocal Coach
"But most important , at her 30´s we all believe she has our fifhteen girlfriend in her most popular move , lovely..." Me
Please check out Olivias TWIST OF FATE music video or TAKE A CHANCE video .
thank you, awesome reaction. This was definitely August of 1980, that 1978 date is not right. Olivia is incredible and has a huge catalogue. You should check out her special with Abba, which was in 1978. Otherwise "A Little More Love", "Deeper than the Night", "Heart Attack", Make a Move on Me", "Totally Hot" & "Physical" just to name a few.
Great react !
I'd advise to react to Please Don't Keep Me Waiting and/or A Little More Love, both by Olivia Newton-John, so you''d discover more of her vocal range. :)
Olivia was the best and biggest solo female artist in the 70s and part of the 80s. Her vocal range, versatility, cristal voice and beauty were superb but underrated by many music critics because of her way to sing and perform effortlessly. Everybody who worked with her, many of them true legends, admired her for her talent, hard work, sense of humour and humbleness. Barry Gibb considered her the greatest female singer and John Lennon considered Magic as one of the best songs of 1980. Even Elvis Presley was fond of her and used to sing two Olivia's songs in his live concerts. She's worked with the best of the best and nobody can say a bad word about her.
Please react to Twist of Fate by Olivia next
This wasn't live, it was a lip-sync from "The Midnight Special," which she hosted to promote "Xanadu" just before its release in August 1980.
Try "A Little More Love" and "Have You Never Ben Mellow."
Australian isn't a different language; it only seems that way.
Hey Vanessa Williams just dropped a new video called legs (keep dancing) and she's 61 and she still got it that video and song is hot you should react to that video
Xanadu
You think you're the first teenager to fall in love with Miss Olivia? Try being a teen in the 70s....Sigh
React to kim wild👍
You should check out her live performance of "Hopelessly Devoted To You": czcams.com/video/lR93L8sUMNg/video.html
