  • We've had our LS Tractor MT342 for 3 years and 500 hours. Let's do a full service on it. I'll be changing the oil, the hydraulic fluid, the fuel filter and air filter.
This would also apply to the MT352, MT357, MT347 and a few other models as well.

I just had my 500 hr service done on my LS. I still love my tractor.

That was very informative Micah. I liked the fuel system on the LS way better than my New Holland. That is a much better design. Wish mine had a primer pump. 👍💪🚜

I'll bet a fella could buy the fuel filter assemby from LS and bolt 'er in...

Love my MT342 as well. I have the cab version. I've had it about 6 months, got 200 hrs on him already. Lots of road work. The poor box blade was never made for what I put it through 😄 Your earlier videos helped me pick the tractor and with the first service! Thanks

I'll bet you're loving that cab! I don't regret much, but not getting a cab is something I'm kicking myself about

@@HomesteadBandwagon yeah I love it. I'm in the high desert. So from 110 degrees to one day last winter -15 degrees. I can keep working. The wife actually made me get the cab one because I was waffling on it. I'm so glad I did. It helps a LOT. And with the dust from doing a few miles of road work.

    I have the mt573.
When doing just a hydraulic filter change I can hook a shop vac up to the fill port and it creates enough vacuum to hold all the fluid back, no waste Pretty slick. I’m at 1600 hours.

I should have tried this on my 50 hr change. They had the hydraulic filter on so tight I lost over 8 gallons by the time I got it off, after having to puncture it.

A few months ago I talked to you about what size tractor I should go with for our food plots, brush hogging, gardening and plowing snow on our 80 acres and we live in west central Wisconsin and me being in my 60s. I was looking at a 30 hp tractor. Well yesterday I made a fantastic deal on a LS MT242HC. I've wanted a LS for 5 years now and it seems like a dream and I guess I really won't believe until it's here on the farm. I've been doing all of the above in our Polaris Ranger 500efi midsize for the past 5 years. Thanks for your advice.

You keep me a rolling lol. I'd throw that filter wrench as far as I could throw it. Lmao

It's quite possibly the worst tool I've ever bought. I think my Matco guy knew it was a stinker based on the funny look he gave me when I bought it.

Just saw this video. Have always appreciated your videos as I have the MT342HC. Great machine, no problems at 225 hrs. I don't know who puts the filters on from the factory but for some of them you need 2 men and a horse to get them off. Do you use full synthetic hydraulic fluid and front axle fluids? Just wondered if its worth the money to use them as they are quite a bit more in cost. Also I was told using off-road fuel makes it go into DIF more often. Been using road fuel and getting between 35 to 50 hours. Seen any truth in that? Thanks again for the videos and advice.

I did my 50 hour on my LS122 back in the spring, changing the hydraulic filters at 50 hour and not having to change the fluid is such a waste, I think a better design was needed so you do not loose so much fluid, but still a great tractor..

I generally tell folks to just tear off the bandaid and change the fluid at 50 hours. Generally quiets the whole system down, which is nice. If you want to see a cool trick, there's videos of fellas attaching a shop vac to the fill port on the rear end when changing out the filters. Seems like it works pretty good!

As a guy who services these things. Do ever see problems with the “gizmos” like linked pedal and cruise control switches??

    • @HomesteadBandwagon
      @HomesteadBandwagon  Před 9 měsíci

Not very often. I don't have a lot of folks using cruise out here, but link pedal is pretty popular. Haven't seen a busted one in recent memory...

What is the top speed of this tractor in medium range. Wondering if it will work for constant medium range for raking hay. I don’t want to have to shift between medium and high. I would be more interested in the mt357. Thinking yours would be similar in speed but maybe the 57 is a little faster.

Do you have a video of changing from the loader to a snowblower? And snowblower to loader.

Well, I tried to get some video when we installed one last month, but had some technical difficulties. Next one we get, I'll be sure to have the camera rolling
