In the UK here in the middle of winter with next to no sunshine and after fitting this panel to my 2C front camera that sees 20 to 30 activations a day after a week my charge level has risen from 17% to 20%, so very happy with it so far. No more manual recharges even in the worst weather.
Cool.. thanks for sharing your experience.
As a fellow UK bloke this was very helpful, thanks
Hello hope you don’t mind me asking, I’m also in the U.K. once the panel has charged the camera does it keep it topped up. As you know U.K. weather n going up n down a ladder to charge the camera isn’t an option so I’m interested in one. I’m still trying to decide on the camera’s 2 or 2pro and a doorbell with chime or add on to Homebase could you give me any advice on these, any help would be appreciated. Iv got myself confused, haven’t seen the E option so not worried. I’m also confused why don’t they all have anti theft on the cameras? Any help from anyone would be appreciated thank you
Once I fitted the solar panel it charged the camera from 17% to full and maintained it all the way through to spring time. A deciding factor will be the amount of sun where the camera is located, but for me it has worked great.
Thank you Roy I’m on Isle of Wight so do have strong sun when it’s out. Can I ask please which camera set do you have and does the human detection work ok, our old camera could only say all or people but it didn’t stop street Walkers setting it off from 20ft away.
Great review. Because of your reviews I bought the Eufy CamE a year ago and today the Solar panel is arriving. I've had to recharge the back camera several times this year so I can't wait to not have to worry about charging anymore. Excellent job.
So glad I spotted this as I literally ordered the eufyCam 2C Pro 2-Cam Kit today. This could be something that I'd consider adding to my setup. Thanks for the video!
Thanks again for another product update. Its nice to see that they put a spool on the back of the panel. Hopefully the other manufacturers will pick up on this. Keep up the hard work!
Yes.. that is a pretty good idea.
Great video LH!! I think the difference between the Battery and Solar selection (under Power Source) is the blue light that turns on when it’s charging. When “Battery” is selected the blue light turns on to show it’s charging. Under “Solar” it doesn’t.
Excellent video. Your other videos regarding comparisons between the Eufy 2 and 2 pro were very thorough! Bravo!!
Thank you for taking the time to put together this video. This video helped me make an informed decision on whether or not to purchase the Eufy Solar Panel.
Awesome video! I am going to order one right now for my EufyCam 2 Pro that is mounted up high over the garage...it’s a bit of a pain/inconvenience to have to take it down and recharge. PLUS, the solar panel will allow me to set the 2 Pro to provide more video when triggered. Thanks for another very useful video!!
Thank you... and not you don't need to or lessen the times you have to take down the camera.
I love these cameras. I’ve got my whole house outside perimeter under surveillance 24/7👊🏽😜
Almost at a 100 thousand subscribers. I remembered when you only had 2,000 subscribers. So happy for you and your channel growth! I'm a fan forever!!!!
Thank You Luke... I appreciate it. I know it is close to get my silver play button!
Thank you, LH. This was a very interesting video. (as always) 😁
My pleasure!
I been waiting for this review. Thank you. 😁
Stfu u didn’t even watch the whole vid
You are welcome.
Love your detailed videos. Keep up the great work.
Thank you very much!
The gutter mount is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing and also for the video. My only worry is that the snow will crash it down when we have much snow on the roof and it slides down. Unfortunately my only possibility is to mount the panel on the gutter
Congrats on a 100k subscribers brother!
Thank you so much 😀
Great review my friend its been awhile but I always love your videos.
Very good instructor I learned so much thank you.
I been watiting for this review
:)
I luv my Eufy s40 Solo cams with the built-in solar panel works Great' Eufy makes quality products! 👍👍
Now EUFY has my interest! Thanks for your time to review this!
I just subbed! Great videos!!!
Great idea, tempted to purchase for my cam 2 pro and 2 C. Not sure how well it would work here in Ireland though 😂
Hopefully in the future, Eufy can make a solar panel with perhaps 2 cables or have 2 ports in order to connect 2 Eufy Cameras at the same time. So, if you have 2 cameras in the front of your house, these can be topped up with just one solar panel. Will be more aesthetically pleasing and better for the pocket.
That is a good idea.
It definitely feels like a basic understanding of 12v power and extensions, you could easily power multiple cameras with one solar panel.
Love your great reviews 👍 Where to get that gutter mount?
Great video Will you do an update video on the solar panel and when I’m still sceptical about the products with the mix reviews
Which of the Eufy wireless cameras is your favorite at this point. I remember some of them were a bit rough on compression artifacts and made the higher resolution camera less clear. Wasn’t sure if that changed. I have Eufy’s battery door bell and have been really impressed with it’s clarity.
Love your Videos, Maybe you can suggest to Eufy to make an external Siren. Thanks
I have a EufyCam 2C. It works great! Does the job. The quality of the videos is clear. For me, it lasts around 2 months before needing a charge! might consider the solar panel now! thanks for the review Life Hacker!
Thank You.
Hey, i know its been a long time since you commented but im just wondering how many motion activations roughly per day is returning 2 months on the battery ?
Thanks in advance
@@martiangod on average 25-35 motions or so a day. Still going strong after a year. Also, I have it on detection sensitivity motion on (4). Detection type - all motions.
Great video as usual. Serious, rigorous and usefull. One question. I am planning on placing the two cameraS on the same spot facing two different angles. Can i use the same solar panel to power two cameras? Maybe using a y USB CABLE? Seems in a sunny day the solar pannel is more than enough to charge one camera.
HI thank you for the great video. Charging permanently the Arlo cam, solar or grid, is mandatory to get the 24/7 continuous recording. Is it the same with Eufycam ? Thanks
Great video as always! Thank you for the review.
Thank You.
Really considering these, as I'm not seeing anywhere near Eufy's claims on battery life for the EufyCam 2 cameras I have, and the system is set up at a remote vacation home that I cannot just drive over and charge all the cameras. But $59 for a solar panel? hmmm... Even with all the cool brackets, etc... I think there may be some less expensive, perhaps even better, aftermarket options. Would love to see pros and cons on aftermarket solar panels for Eufy's cams. I'm seeing some on Amazon for about $35 that are more powerful at 3.5 watts, and claim Eufy compatibility. Thanks!
I wonder how well it would do with artificial light. I have an industrial space and plan to mount the cameras pretty high. If the panel will keep the battery topped off with artificial light, that would be a great win!
It’s kind of pricey but it does a really good job. Before I got mine my solo cam E40 pro use to drop 4% battery a day. With the panel it sits at 80 steady even on cloudy days. Even if it was to drop, it will only take 1 day of sun light to get it up 30% and that’s cause I only get a few hours of direct sunlight.
Awesome video, but is there a way to extend the cords....let's say 30ft?
Thanks.
Thanks for the review. Not sure if anyone has commented this, but isn't the difference in charging that you comment on due to the fact that you are comparing relative charging (%) between 2 different capacities. In absolute terms of mah gained the charge speeds are very similar taking into account variations in sun power from day to day and the fact that charging speeds are not linear over the capacity of a lithium battery (fast charging when levels are low and slowing down when reaching full).
Good to Have a Solar Panel if you have Battery Camera
Are you able to test if it can charge 2 cameras at once using a usb splitter? I know it wouldn't charge fast but if it would be nice to know it would work.
I have 2 cameras up that takes a ladder to take them down to recharge. This will be great as these cameras are on the South side of the house so I have put in an order 2 on Amazon.
Cool.. this will definitely lessen or stop you from getting up the ladder to take down the cameras. Thanks.
cool. has wyze fixed the cam outdoor notification delay?
on the Eufy E40 pro, how do you connect with solar panel? There is a flap when using the adapter seal for solar panel! Everyone showing the same example you show!
Roav is Anker's dash cam brand, I've had several of them, the first I got almost 5 years ago now.
My Eufy doorbell cam is being switched out because it is needing to be charged every week. I am considering just hard wiring, but this might be an option. Thanks!
where did you get the mount for the solar panel that attaches to the gutter .. i just got my solar panel but didn't install it yet and does that mount handle the wind very well and we are in eastern NC so we do get hurricanes want to know if that is a sturdy mount for the solar panel
in the power bank hack, what was the capacity of powerbank and was there any specific to look out while buying one?
Great review! As I stated the other day, black mounts are in production.
I have my eufy cameras connected to HomeKit which reduces battery life by about 50%. I am finding that they last 5 to 6 months, not the one year as advertised.
Still, I think I will pass on these. Recharging my batteries 2 to 3 times a year is not really that big a deal…
Cool..good to know that they have the black versions pretty soon.
Omg I need 11 of these. I have 11 wireless and still need to add 6 more. Plus I have 5 wired. Yes, big property...mainly using them to keep safe from coyotes. Want to see if any wild animals are around the property when I leave at 3am for work. Love them except for two reasons...1st, the constant climbing on stairs to recharge. 2nd trying to share the notification with my daughter's. It only allows me to share with one daughter, as soon as another tried to log in it logs me off. Frustrating because I have left to go to work and sure enough there is a wild animal close by which I didn't know because I was logged off without knowing. Is there a way for all house hold members to be logged in at the same time? Also, thanks for your videos, you are so informative. Love them!
First of all thank you so much for your detailed video.
I do have a quick question / issue on Homebase2 connection to my router.
I do have tp-link Deco X20 mesh system, when I try to connect my homebase2 with the internet , it has blue blinking light only and then I could see error message "Network Exception, please try again later."
With an error screen titled "Unable to add HoemBase2".
Could you please help me out? I tried everything reset, unplug power cable, router restart, reset button on homebase2 but it just keep blinking blue led. Help would be highly appreciated 🙏🏼
Is there any truth eufy is going to release a model 3 soon? Very good video!
I believe the difference in charge status when connecting the solar panel is internal power management. For example, apparently the LED charge indicator turns off when connected to a solar panel in order to save power; similarly to save on CPU processing energy, it turns off real-time charge indicator. In its place, that's why EUFY uses the static yellow solar panel icon.
Can you recommend an exterior wireless, 24/7 record security cameras? I am using Nooie, but they are not wireless.
What brand of gutter mount are you using for the Eufy solar panel?
So this allows the camera to record earlier like the arlos do when plugged in?
When you set the power source to solar panel the camera is drawing power directly from the solar panel, not the battery. Since the Eufy solar panel does not have a built in battery pack, on a cloudy day the camera would have no power unless the battery source automatically kicks in as backup. I’ve not tested this but I think this is the case in order to preserve the battery longevity. If the power source is set to battery the camera will draw power from the battery. The solar panel will be charging the battery instead of providing direct power for the camera.
True... but there is a comment here about detection statistics on the camera which resets every time the battery gets fully charged... so I'm assuming that the solar panel option will not reset it but the battery option will... I do have to test this though..
@@LifeHackster yes that is correct. I have mine set to solar panel which was initially not an available option when I first purchased my Eufy cameras. I’ve been using the Blink XT solar panel which has an internal battery that can hold a charge on days where it’s too cloudy to charge the panel.
I hope you get this message since it's been a year since you wrote here. I am trying to get support from Eufy over what you stated. I noticed that the camera goes offline at night, and turns off when I have it set to Solar Power. It seemed logical to me that it's because the solor panel is not drawing energy from the sun. I cannot change it to battery after it goes off, so should I be keeping it on battery power all the time to have it run 24 hours a day? Then the blue light is constantly on and charging if this is the case. Isn't this poor design?
Can’t wait for an adapter for the L20
Is it possible to mount a reolink solar panel or another to the eufy cam? The panel seems to be sold out everywhere.
How does this compare to third party panels, like the Wasserstein?
Great review. Please review the new Wyze camera doorbell. ✌🏽
I will but my pre-order hasn't been shipped yet and they say around the 3rd week of this month.
@@LifeHackster Just received mine. Yours may arrive sooner than you thought.
Can i use third party panel which higher amperes or watts to improve the charging speed? Any recommendations?
Which gutter mount is that? I can’t find one specifically for the eufy panel
Question!
Can we use 1 eufy solar panel to charge more than one camera at the same time if I use connectors to do so?
I have 4 s330 camera's and after a year the top of two of my solar panels is shedding like dried skin but the camera picture looks good so I called Eufy about if i could use a external solar panel with the S330 and they said it should work. so i am moving one of the cameras under the Soffit and hook up the soler panel and we'll see if it works with the S330.
Can this solar panel work on the solo cam s40? 😊
Will this work with the S40 model? I have one that is completely dead and I'm hoping this will do the trick
I've read that the solar panel does not work in temperatures below 35 degrees. If correct then this would be kind of useless for those of us who may live in the South but can get cold nights around 29. I'm glad I did my do diligence before spending the money. I do like my 2C except for the horrible sound quality.
I wonder how well they work in winter
Does Eufy offer extension cable? I believe I need more than 4 meters...
Thanks for the review. I have Eufycam E cameras using magnetic mount. Would i be able to plug it to this solar panel without using the screw mount ?
You can.. you will lose a few degrees of downward tilt on the camera because the plug will hit the wall.
Hello mate. I purchased the reolink version that outputs 6v,500mah but it can't charge my camera. I'm still loosing battery percentage. I have checked the panel and it does charge my other devices. Any hints? I can't see the charging icon in the eufy 2c camera.
Has anyone tried connecting the panel to the S330 camera? The box and website says it's compatible, but it doesn't come with a rubber weather gasket for the S330. Gaskets are only included for earlier models like the Solo, 2C, E, etc.
I think I would get at least 2, a couple of my cameras are high and not in such a great position for a ladder, so the solar panels would be worth it for me to have.
Can add on a solar later to your eufy system?
So 2c pro , will take more charge off panel right ?
Quick question, which is the lates EUFY cameras, I am going to purchase 3-4 of them, but want to get latest product, in your video you mention Solo, please help, search thru bunch of crap videos, watch yours made decision but want to know your opinion as well sir!
Can we use this on smart drop box?
I never had mines on solar panel i always kept it at battery and never had an issue. I just have an issue of the camera not recording sometimes.
Eufy advertises that their solar panel is 'specially designed' for use with their cameras. I'd love to know whether other non Eufy solar panels are similar in performance.
Great video!
Can I ask what you are using for a router these days?
I use eero mesh.
As-salamu alaykum. Can this be use for a Eufy doorbell? If not, what can I use for a Eufy battery doorbell?
Will this work with the new eufy wired outdoor cam?
Where do you buy gutter mounts?
Really like this system. Wonder how well it would do in Wisconsin weather. I'm also looking at the indoor cam as my 9 year old Samsung is beginning to fail. Not sure where to start just yet. Maybe indoor, doorbell with hub then exterior cameras
Minnesota here... the cameras are troopers outdoors so no worries there. It is smart to charge them up before any sort of big deep chill. For instance I charged all my outside cameras as its gonna get super cold in a few days. As for indoor.. I LOVE the indoor 2k eufy cameras. Love how quickly they pull up in the app and the clarity so they have my vote.
@@PressStartOnce good to know they handle the cold well. Let me know how it looks. We're expecting sub zero temps as well.
I have 2 Eufy pan and tilt for indoor use and they work great. The app is smooth and setup was easy.
The eufy indoor cams are pretty good.. so Eufy is a good choice for what you need.
Great review dude! Just to clarify.. is it the battery or the solar panel, power option that charges the battery?
Solar Panel.
@@LifeHackster awesome! Thank you :)
do they have 4k solor panel eufy cams? i only have ONE eufy product: that dome shaped 2k pan and tilt! got it only for like 63$cdn! my best cam as im into only cheap cams lol , i like how it focuses/zooms/tracks the person in motion
Not yet as to 4K cameras.. and yes the indoor pan tilt is a pretty good camera.
Will I be able to use this with wyze can v3
I think clicking solar panel means it's running on the solar panel and not the battery. There's a trickle charge when on solar panel mode.
Will this solar panel work with the Eufy Indoor Cam C120?
Is your EUFY Cam solar came with home base? my came with two camera and two solar panel, model: E8131j21. do I need to buy home baes for my camera. please let me know. thanks.
Would be better if they had bigger one but if u connected 2 panels together & Would charge faster or just get bigger watt panel
I have the e40 which gasket do I use ?
Sorry to comment on this video when its not related but... I currently have a Ring Pro, its ok but not perfect. I am going to be moving soon and was wondering what alternative that doesn't rely on the cloud to work would you recommend (one that I can still have remote access, two way talk, motion sensing (that isn't terrible) and good video quality day and night. Ideally not battery powered. (POE is also ok). Love your videos, keep up the great work. Thanks
No problem...The eufy wired doorbell is an option. I also have an EZVIZ DB1C that I'll be testing soon.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for the reply. I think I ideally want something that is POE and connects via ethernet rather than wifi (just incase the wifi is slow). Have you seen anything that's good like this?
The dashcam/device...i noticed that when I bought an eufy indoor pan cam...eufy is foreshadowing, and giving us fans Easter eggs lol
:)
Do you know if there going to give continues recording now with this option of adding solar panels?
No.. it will only charge the batteries. All battery powered cameras will not be able to do continuous or 24/7 recording.
Hallo or hello sir,
could you do a comparison between the Arlo Ultra or Arlo pro 3 and the milesight panoramic camera 180 degrees?
Grüße/greetings from germany 😊🤘
Can I use a 10W solar panel on eufy cam? The eufy solar panel is very expensive
So when u are in battery mode it does not charge?
Have you done any other solar charging videos? I’d like to use a Wyze 3 outdoor and run it of a battery that being solar charged. TIA.
That can be a good topic... I have to check it out.. thank you.
@@LifeHackster I have a car battery powering for electric fence energizer (solar charged) that I’ll use a 12v to USB adapter on for now. Looking at the Wyze forum there’s some interest in this subject. Most are for battery powered cameras but having the ability to power a normal indoor camera would be nice.
What have you found to be the longest distance to the base station these cameras can be? I understand it depends on the number of walls/roof and material make up of the home, but am looking for what you may have found to be the distance. Thanks!
I have personally tested it works at 75 feet reliably with a couple of walls the signal has to go through.
If I have an outlet nearby, can I simply keep the camera plugged in to stay fully charged. It is the Eufy cam 2C and it is protected, under an eve.
i have done this with mine. everytime it gets low, i just turn the plug on for a few hours the off again when charged
