    Hi Cassiy! Thank you again for another wonderful video! I have a few questions.. 1) What do you do with your shop when you are on a vacation and do not have access to the Internet (for example, a cruise)? Do you put your shop on vacation mode? 2) Do you respond to customer reviews (good or bad) and what do you say? 3) How do you go about choosing the color palettes for your designs? 4) Do you think it's best for the design to take up the entire space allotted or just a small part of the shirt?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Před 2 lety

      1. I have yet to go on a vacation without wifi, I paid for it on my cruise and just checked my messages for a few minutes in the morning and at night. But you could always ask a close friend or family member to watch it for you or hire a Virtual Assistant. You don't want to go on vacay mode and then not respond to people who have already ordered. You can put an automatic reply on that you are on vacay and only checking messages once per day at a certain time so they know what to expect.
      2. I respond to bad reviews to see if there is anything I can do to make it right.
      3. I google color palettes a lot of find a best seller and use their color palette.
      4. It depends on the shirt, I do both depending on if it's a graphic design or just text. There is no exact right answer, sometimes simple is really best just text across the chest and other times big bold graphics are best. Just try both and see what works best for you!

    Hey Cassiy!!!! You're helping me so much!!! I would love your help in understanding my need for Everbee AND Sale Samurai at the same time. I'm so confused as to why BOTH are used at the same time when starting out. I know they are slightly different but can you please clarify for those of us just starting out, if there's one over the other you would recommend at first? Then when would you say is a good indicator that the other should be used? I just know myself and trying to understand and start BOTH at the same time would be a bit overwhelming for me. I am more of the mindset, start with one, learn it well, then add another as needed. I keep thinking (as a newbie) that ya'll are nuts LOL for doing both at the same time and wonder if it's overkill for a newbie? Thanks so much!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Před rokem

      Great question! As for Everbee vs Sale Samurai, they are very different tools that I use for different things. I really like using Everbee to sort the results for a keyword on Etsy to see which ones are already selling well, how many sales approx they've had and easily see what keywords they are using in their titles and tags. I also really like using them to stalk my competition by sorting their shop and seeing what best sellers shops have. So I use Everbee more for finding new shops to stalk and finding new niches to design for.
      Sale Samurai you already have to have a keyword in mind to start searching for to really use it, and you can go down the rabbit hole and then find some low competition high search volume niches as well but I use it more for finding good keywords for the listings I already made. Hope that makes sense!
      You definitely don't NEED either of them, I built my whole business without using any paid tools. I am just starting to check them all out now that I am 2+ years in and realize how they can make my job so much easier and more efficient. But I also am making a bunch of sales and don't mind spending the money on both since I am just going to write it off at
      the end of the year anyways! I hope that all makes sense hha thanks so much for watching!!

    Thank you Cassiy for showing us how you would research and put your own designs together. Does it matter if we go days without publishing any listings? Or should we strive to get some listings up each day?
    I’m not sure if I should try to be more efficient with task batching each step (I.e., make a bunch of designs one day, SEO research another day for all those designs, create the mock-ups the following day, and so on). My only concern is this method may mean I’m going days without out publishing any listings, compared to working on one design at a time from start to finish/publish each day.
    I’m curious to know your thoughts :)

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Před 2 lety +4

      Great question Nicole! I find when I do too many designs, I feel overwhelmed. So I like to make 10 designs and then list them all. I think as long as you are consistently listing, it doesn't matter if you are literally listing every single day. Just find a rhythm that works well for you and that you have time and mental energy for!

      @Usamayosafzai Před 2 lety +2

      Just make consistency in your listing , for example if you listing 10 designs after every 4 days then you should carry this constantly. It will know the algorithm that you are serious and genuine seller which will help you in boosting your shop

    • @spiritualitylifecoach
      @spiritualitylifecoach Před 2 lety

      Thanks for asking this question. I had the same one since the other day I was in canva creating a design and then I’d get hits of inspiration and before I knew it I had over 100 canvases open. So I thought that I’d just batch the process like you mentioned. But then I had to keep avoiding the overwhelm feeling like Cassiy mentioned and recommit to finishing. So I just took out like about 5 to start and creating the mock-ups and seo and listing them one by one in the matter of two days. So I think I will do small batches and it’ll help me be more consistent.

    I’m wondering about using the POD images from Creative Fabrica…a lot of people say you can use them as is in your Etsy shop, but does that actually go against Etsy’s rules for your items having to be designed by you? Or is it permissible to add them to POD products and sell them as is on Etsy?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Před 2 lety

      So the fully premade as is designs on CF you are right, technically are not made by you so I see what you are saying! I think Etsy says you just have to have a "unique" item, so maybe the item you are offering it on is what makes it unique. You aren't selling the design you didn't make as is, you put that design onto a t-shirt, sweatshirt mug. So maybe that helps it count that way? I don't think Etsy polices this at all but its an interesting thing to consider.

  • @kellidixon1595
    @kellidixon1595 Před 2 lety +1

    Could you PLEASE do a tutorial for how to design for mugs using Canva and Printify? There are very few out there. I have been trying, but my designs end up too small on the mug. This would be so helpful. I want to branch out in my products, but mugs are hard especially the 15 oz and the enamel mugs.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Před 2 lety

      Here's my review of the mugs if you haven't seen it czcams.com/video/VPO7Tqu59aw/video.html
      And there should be no difference in the way you design mugs compared to t-shirts. I repurpose my t-shirt designs onto mugs, I am never making them specifically for mugs in the first place!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Před 2 lety +1

      So I spend probably 20 minutes per day on customer service, sometimes around the holidays it can get crazy like that though. You need to try to make sure all of the questions people have are answered in your photos. Not everyone goes to the description so if you can make it as easy as possible to find the answers to peoples questions without messaging you, then you will get less messages!
      Also if you offer custom orders, then you will get lots more messages. So if you are concerned about customer service, maybe don't do custom items!

What do you think about combining all 3 into one listing? Do you think it’s more beneficial to have 3 separate listings with the same graphics or one listing were you can purchase the graphic on either a hoodie, T-shirt or sweatshirt?

      The only things you need to get started in Canva design software and you can even get a free month of that when you sign up with my link, everything else can wait until you start getting money coming in. But you do need to float the costs of the orders until Etsy pays you though so I would recommend having some money before you start. Etsy for the first 90 days pays you once per week but only pays you the full amount of the order after the item ships. So I would recommend putting them on a credit card if you feel comfortable with that so you can just pay the credit card after etsy pays you the full amount of the item. Then after 90 days you can change this to pay you daily and they pay you the full sale amount (minus etsy fees) right away now that they know you are a legit business.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Před rokem

      You can buy premade designs and post them for sale but they need to have full commercial rights. Make sure to read the descriptions of any designs you buy and also vet the store to see if it really seems like they are making all of the designs. Some people steal peoples designs and just resell them, and this can get you in trouble! They also are not responsible for checking trademarks or copyrights, that's still your job. So I tend not to buy them because of all of these reasons and I just make my own.

Etsy's house rules regarding design say "Simple customization, such as selecting colors, shapes, or choosing from ready-made options is not considered design on Etsy." Awesome video Cassiy. So many A-ha moments! 🤩💯💥I have a question for clarification ... I've noticed in your tutorials that you use the top 50% of your 4500x5400 templates to place your designs. I made an assumption that I should be filling up that space for resolution purposes, then sizing down the image to on the shirt. Is there a scenario when it makes better sense to use the entire template (ie, maybe a tall and narrow design that would otherwise look too small/crunched confined to the top area)? 🤔
    Oh, and can you point me to the video where you talk about a strategy for doubling your listings by creating a separate listing for a different color? I want to get some clarification on that as well Thank you!

      No you should be fine to use something generic like that. But keep in mind, just because there is a trademark for something, doesn't always mean that it's trademarked for shirts.
