    Why do you guys talk into the side of those huge microphones instead of the front of the microphone ?

      Radio major here. With dynamic mics (which I'm sure they're using) they pick up sound equally well from the sides as the front. Talking into the side reduces chance of plosives (popping your P's when talking)
