This group is way tougher than the previous one. Switzerland deep, quality, vocals... Azerbaijan Queen, fuego vibes, beat... Israel fun, ethnic, vocals. All impressive in different ways.

Switzerland is absolute magic. The same goosebumps I got from Netherlands in 2019. I will always wonder what could have been.

I made a "virtual Eurovision" with some friends, most of them having had no real connection to Eurovision before.
Our final results saw Iceland and Switzerland being the most likely to win. Of course this is not representative, but I think this could have been realistic (Switzerland jury winner with a good amount of points from the televote, Iceland televote winner with a good amount of jury votes perhaps).

From the very first listening I knew that Switzerland is gonna be my winner, I cry and have goosebumps every time I hearing this absolute masterpiece...so sad we will never see it on Eurovision stage...
but I'm happy Gjon's Tears will come back this year and I'm sure his song gonna be as epic as 'Répondez moi' .

From the moment I heard it, it took my breath away! I got the same goosebumbs like the ones with "Arcade".
Fun fact; Gjorn (pronounced Jorn) is of Albanian decent, son of immigrant parents, and his song is about nostos, the feeling of a lost homeland, a lost past, the memories that still remain after leaving a land not forsaken. It is about all the unanswered questions we all have about life.
As an "immigrant" myself, living in a foreign country for more than 15 years now and being homesick most of the time, this spoke volumes to me...
I am so sad we lost some beautiful performances last year 😢
For the rest of the entries, I was anticipating Azerbaijan's the most because of the staging we would experience.

Israel reminded me a bit of Shakira 2010, with the african world cup.
I did not like Ireland (you were right about the Kelly Clarkson reference) and Croatia.
Maybe Gjon is more speaking for his parents? Because he was born and raised in Switzerland, so he can't know how living in Albania was and what being homesick is..

It's funny, I watched the video of you reacting to group 2 and was thinking "I hope the group with Israel in it will be on soon" thinking it's going to be at least a week or so of waiting. Then I fell down a rabbit hole of watching your other videos (even some that I've already seen) for umm... well... several hours straight now and just when I said ok no more, I got to go to bed - what do you know? It's interesting you mentioned max Martin with Ireland. While not connected with this song, lesley really got her break initially through max Martin and has worked with him on an album from quite a while ago. So it certainly is an apt comparison

I love Ireland's song from 2020 and I'm so happy Lesley is coming back for 2021. And yes, one of the songwriter for this song has also written songs for Kelly Clarkson.
I've been waiting for you to react to Croatia for that bridge alone, and your face did not disappoint! It's a shame the song isn't as strong as the singer, though. I've said I think it could have won, easily, like back in '98, but it's just not current enough to have really stood a chance last year, in my opinion.
With Israel done, you've gotten to all of my top 5 now except for my winner. I'm legit so freaking stoked to see what you think of it, regardless if you love it or not! Either way, it's my favorite Eurovision performance of all time, and it didn't even go to Eurovision.

@@RoxanneLavender well the writer of the song Doron Madly actually said he made it up to sound African when he was interviewed at the national selection. So maybe it means somthing by mestike but the writer actually said he made that up and a few more inside the song

Switzerland was my fave in this group, and probably 2nd fave overall. (No. 1 fave being Italy). As others have said already, such a shame that we never got to see these songs live on a Eurovision stage.
I think the big 5 that gave you goosebumps was Italy's... would really love your reaction to his (Diodato from Italy) performance of his Eurovision 2020 at Arena Di Verona

My favorite last year was Gjon's tears, so I'm so happy he is one of the returning artists that countries gave another chance, since they didn't get to compeat last year. I love Edens song this year much more than Feke libi.

I really loved Gjon's Tears' song so much, regardless of eurovision, it's a favourite of mine. I loved Eden Alene's song too for eurovision, such a top 3 at least for me, so excellent.

I have no idea why a song about Cleopatra, a _1st century Egyptian queen_ includes Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, a mantra from _13th century Japanese Buddhism_ and it bugs me 😆 I know I'm thinking too much about it, but I can't help it.
There were a lot of contrasts happening there. To be honest, the whole shot of her in front of the car was unnecessary and distracting. It was a contrast from the more culturally stunning costumes she wore in the video.💚✌️

For me, it's really hard to choose between Iceland, Lithuania, Russia & Switzerland, for me they are all 10/10.
I enjoyed Switzerland the most.
This was a super strong group but for me Azerbaijan was the best song of the group and the best song of all last years potential entries. I loved many of the entries but Cleopatra is the song I still can't get out of my head. The staging for this would have been epic. Croatia was also amazing.

Damir unfortunately isn't coming back in 2021. Croatia will hold their national final DORA as usual and Damir already said on social media that he won't participate... I'm still very happy that I found him through 2020`s DORA. I fell in love with his voice and I love to listen to his songs. Even if I don't understand the language, I feel the emotions. :)

2: Azerbaijan (love the combo of modern and Arabic, so far the most unique sounding song, and another fun one)

5: Ireland (not a bad song but derivative, overproduced, sounded like Katy Perry 2010)

Switzerland - a very cool ballad, slightly overrated by the fandom 8/10
Israel - such a joy, it's kinda unfortunate that her 2021 entry is compared to Feker Libi 9/10
Ireland - nice to see an upbeat song and a cute throwback to 2000s pop 8/10
Azerbaijan - not bad, I feel like some of the pieces of the song just don't go together well (esp. the pre-chorus chant) 6/10

Switzerland - Amazing voice but the song feels too much like Arcade for me which I think might have worked against it in 2020. I'm glad he's coming back though. In some ways the gap since 2019 may work better for him as it will lessen the comparison with Arcade if he has a similar style song.
Israel - Very different for Israel. It's not my style of song and I don't like the tempo change towards the end. I really like her vocals though and I think this would have done very well with televoters.
Ireland (home country) - Trying to be objective on this and she had a disastrous live appearance which really put me off the song. I do like the song although it's was a bit dated and repetitive. Will be interesting to see what route they go with her this year.
Azerbaijan - The chorus destroys this song for me. It just gets in the way on what I think is a great if busy song. I like the rest of the ethnic vibe through it though. Agree that this would probably have been interesting to stage.
Croatia - Great vocal performance and nice to see a live performance. The song is a bit pedestrian though even with the lift into the last chorus. It's my least favourite from this group.

Yikes this was a strong group, I never really liked Switzerland as much as others 😬 Israel 🔥, Ireland, a good song from us. Lesley will be back and from what I’ve heard this was a poor song by her standards so hopefully we can do even better this year, Azerbaijan love the verses, not so much the chorus and Croatia was decent
