I just love my retro synths and drum machines and when the opportunity arose to buy a Korg Prophecy off someone really famous I just had to make an unboxing and demo video. - Hudba
that unboxing was amazing
For those of you who don't know, there is a Korg Prophecy VST now available! I own it, and its awesome!
The bit where you're doing 303 Growler just bought back 1000 memories. If you know nothing about music (like me) then the arrangement of the Prodigy's music is a complete mystery. Seeing someone mucking around with the same instrument and playing the melodies was so satisfying. Thanks!
There is a great video on CZcams called 'The making of' The Prodigy Fire Starter' by Jim Pavloff in Abletun Live'. I don't know how far you are with using software, but it does show you how the tracks and overall sound comes together without blinding you with technology. He does lots of other great stuff and it is a good starting point. Let me know what you think if you don't mind. I can't take any credit but I hope it gives you an idea about the creative/production side. Enjoy.
michael lavery - I’ve watched it a few times it’s a great video
I have one, bought it for 186 Euros from a guy in Russia on Reverb, thought at the time this will be a waste of money. Got it, was in good shape, just have to remember to have it plugged into a power converter, it’s 110 and I’m in Rome on 220. Sounds, works, plays great. A really good left hand bass unit, also used as a controller for Omnisphere, it gives you a lot of possibilities. My other Omnisphere controller, a Korg MS-20ic but that’s another story.
ahhhh the best unboxing on the web
its a sad day indeed, i just heard Keith Flint of Prodigy has passed away.RIP
Yes it is - an icon that I grew up with. RIP Keith your music and image will Live Forever!
Your unboxing is one of the best I've ever seen in my life :D
I was about to come over there and save a defenseless synth!
When he stabbed the box I laughed out loud.
Another interesting story of how music connected two music heads. Awesome video and channel. I was born in 86 and always wondered how music like this was made before the likes of Ableton.....and now im here at 4am in 2020 🤣👍
Excellent video, man. Congrats on attaining this! So damn cool it was owned by that Sneaker Pimps dude. And that B00 preset is instant nostalgia for me. Cheers
I enjoyed every second of this.
Awesome video, it's very pleasing to see some of the equipment behind The Prodigy's productions!
Nice. I love Sneaker Pimps and Prodigy. Currently looking to get one of these.
Love the video mate, made me LOL
Crash-Bang-Wallop Parcel Delivery. I've had some of those. That cat sure is talented.
Looks like it has the same style buttons my M1 had. Fun video, thanks.
Just found your channels and man, Your videos are beyond good.. SUbbed!
At V97 Leeds me and my brother were watching the sneaker pimps and were stood right at the front in this tent. Next minute I spotted two familiar faces stood at the side of the stage . It was Liam and Keith . They went to see if the sneaker pimps were going to perform their cover of Firestarter. Because I was and still am a massive Prodigy fan I went nuts and started waving at them then the whole crowd started going nuts too . All the sneaker pimps looked at the side of stage and realised who was there . Realising that they were taking away all the attention Liam and Keith quickly disappeared. That night the Prodigy headlined and me and my brother nearly got crushed to death at the front watching the Prodigy . There was a massive surge and people everywhere we’re getting crushed . I drove home after the festival in my Fiat UNO turbo with no trainers because they got ripped off my feet during Smack my Bitch up . 🐜🐜🐜🐜
Ha ha 😅😂- that’s a brilliant story!
@@ThomasMatthewEvans one of the craziest days ever 😂😂😂
Party Hard :O
A15: Space Bee, I knew I recognized that somewhere! Alistair Hirst - Warped, from Need for speed III hot pursuit soundtrack!
Very funny and informative ;). Can I ask you for this patch 303 grovler in sysex format ? I would like to have it on my Korg Trinity with moss (prophecy) board. Thanks
That's one great video! Keep on
If you want to Transfer sysex sounds you probably need an update only possible by changing an eprom, but it is worth to get it
that 303 growler !!! d best
Are there any similar/semi-similar software plugins that emulate the Korg Prophecy’s unique sounds workflow?
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Lot of switch are necessary to activate this monster ( not the cat, the synthesizer). Thanks a lot for the demonstration of secret prodigy's group weapon.
Best unboxing ever!
Thanks for watching
I know Liam bought the Korg from a music shop in chelmsford in Essex also he bought a jd800 around the same time
I worked on the Nottingham gig of their (unfortunately last) No Tourists tour, I can confirm that’s the exact type of orange tape he had on his Microkorg at that point, and his handwriting too!
The tape has Mighty Boosh Future Sailors written on it, so it's not Liam Howlett's
2:49 Gary Numan Cold Warning
Funny that the tb303 (that is not so closed to a tb303) preset was called "B52". I would be happy to have this digital synth.
You can get them on ebay for about £300. Good luck understanding it.
It’s not as bad as it seems once you understand the signal path diagram in the manual. Without the manual... good luck!
Joke aside, there is a pretty neat graphical Prophecy editor for PC that’s much easier to use.
@@albedoshader Thanks. Wish it was available 25 years or so ago before I sold it due to frustration.
@@michaellavery4899 I’m surprised your Prophecy didn’t come with a user guide and parameter guide.
@@albedoshader what editor yoz mean?
@@michaellavery4899 HAHAHAHA!
Liam bought the prophecy from a shop called music connections in essex i know i used to see him there, he also bought a JD800 which i did as well
Liam says in interviev he get it from Korg for free
@@someone-ly7to If you're referring to the FM interview from '97, I remember reading that, too. He said it was crap, because it was monophonic. I think that issue also had a review of the Z1. I wound up buying the Z1 (still have it).
A29 the sound used on the Dragons Den theme tune
Great intro vid 😆. I’m sold. Subscribed. One hell of a gem you got there. Shall check out some of your other vids. Would like to know how to make The Prodigy style music
Awesome video ,love both of the bands ,i never realized they used same synth at some time till now ,all do i believe Liam Howlett was more in to the Roland W30 and sampling
I've always thought that the synth on Smack my Bish Up was an actual TB-303 with some distortion. Now I can clearly see that it was this preset on the Prophecy. Which is fine by me, but a bit of a revelation.
They say...never meet your idols. Well I say never delve too deep into the audio workings of a genius!
Great demo! This was my first ever synth and I regret selling it, thinking of picking up one again. Do you think there is something about the tone that the VST version of this does not capture?
Hi Mai - thats a whole level of debate. Analog is usually better scientifically as there is no 0's and 1's or bitrate to degrade the signal. However unless you are a total purist or have an osciliscope then if it sounds good to you it would sound good to most people.
@@ThomasMatthewEvans The Prophecy is NOT an analog synthesizer!
Are all them Sounds Factory presets or have they been made by the previous owner?? I’d love one of these
naughtystudios - yes they are all factory preset sounds. The keyboard was cleaned up and the original sounds sysex onto the synth.
Nice unboxing))) And these sounds 5:03 and 5:12 both clearly reminds me (maybe were used actually?) the game soundtrack for the KKnD Crossfire (Mutants).
Just recognized that ay yaya preset from a goa trance record. Guess this is one keyboard thats been used mostly for its presets than anything else.
Soo its basically a digital synth with an all-killer no filler library of factory patches?
BEST UNBOXING EVAAAAA
Dimitris Adamidis - Thank you for your feedback
just got a mint one from japan (need to run it through a 100-120V voltage converter) ...there's so much to figure out i don't even know where to start 😳🙈
Great!
Ahhh brought Goosebumps back to me...I miss my Prophecy!
Patch A 61....
Is used on TimeBombZone....,right??
It's very close isn't it. Didn't realize I was sort of playing the melody as well. Liam sold his Prophecy years ago so if I was a betting man I'd say it's not the actual patch. This sound is very common on most synths as it's basically a SAW wave oscillator.
@@ThomasMatthewEvans
Yes maybe.
But if I would be Liam,I would record all the sounds in a Library before I sell anything.
So you can use it later..
And yes you've played the melody nearly 100%.
I have a Keyboard Yamaha DJX Black Series, and Patch Nr.41 is a Prodigy Sample used in "No Good".
2:31 - so satisfying
1:40 Best unboxing ever
Dat parcel opening 😂
1:36 > this is probably why my last ebay buyer tried to fraudulently return my synth as damaged
Lol - wasn’t me!
1:32 unboxing is hilarious :D
Dood, youre gonna cut your frickin hand off. Great vid! ❤
Oh wow this was brilliant! Subscribing in case you come back.
awesome! the reason why i bought a prophecy was because of sneaker pimps which i read they use it
Vincent Van gogh the keyboard in the video is the actual one they owned and used! 👍🏼
@@ThomasMatthewEvans awesome! i wonder which song they used it
Vincent Van gogh definitely Six underground
Chase my pitch up, smack my Prophecy up.
0:26 what are we calling "late nineties" because Firestarter had it's first public outing in 1996, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the track was first crafted at least in some basic form, in 95.
Liam is renowned for writing his tracks in hotel rooms after returning from gigs so it must have been late when he wrote them - late 90s 😁
6:35
Best unboxing, dude!)
gud
lol, nice video... funny!
Korg should remake these but sleeker and with added presets.
Great unboxing, thought u were gonna drag Liam out of the box by his hair 🤣
6:35
٩( ˊᗜˋ)و
1:34 Ah yes. Putting the F(un) in Fragile!!!! :)
These all sound like regular Prophecy presets.
Jarkko Tuohimaa - that’s exactly right! The unit was completely factory reset and all patches reloaded
I could almost watch this past 2:23 but i hate cats too much.
I love them....but I've never been able to eat a whole one!
Misleading title tbh, it was Liam Howl, nothing to do with The Prodigy
