  • Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration project. This old rusty butcher cleaver I found at metal scrap yard. At first sight the cleaver had good weight and I made decision to bought it. First, I used electrolysis to remove all rusty and after use grinder to remove patina and made one similar shape on the cleaver blade shape. For cleaver handle I chose ash tree and three brass rivets and one single aluminum with hole. Further I used a two components paint to made black color and painted the axe handle. Finally, I made decisions to test my butcher cleaver on a chicken, due to after last videos, so many people said you should test meat cleaver at the meat. Okay, I hope you enjoy this restoration video.
    Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
    Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

    Look up a video on how to "spatchcock" a chicken. It would be a perfect way to use a restored meat cleaver. Also, a whole spatchcocked chicken cooks in less time than a whole uncut chicken. Perfect for grilling.

    Should've placed a basket of fried chicken there too with the finished product. I have a jungle bolo that's in a weathered shape and after watching this video, I'm thinking of trying my hand in restoring it.

    Like your work! Only nag is from my own bad outcomes: loose sleeves while using rotary tools can really go south in a heartbeat, as I discovered. Even just rubber bands to secure the sleeves will help. I thought I was being careful but still got barked up pretty well.

    I watched a lot of these kind of videos. But i was always wondering the subject weight before and after restoring. Cuz sanding and filling always take some metal. I was wondering if it make a noticable difference in mass. Please add a section to weight the subject before restoring and after.

    • @ScrewsAndTools
      @ScrewsAndTools  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello sir, thank you for attention. Sure. The power consumption of my pc power supply equals 400W. I used 12v for electrolysis effect, it's yellow cables. I combined 6 yellow in single cable and 6 black cables in single. The black cables I connected to staff that on which I apply electrolysis and yellow on stainless steel rod for example. After that I wait around 1 or 3 hours depending how many rut on stuff.

    If you're going to power sand something with an angle grinder anyway, then what's the point of removing the rust by electrolysis first? Isn't it redundant? Like wouldn't sanding it with the angle grinder just get rid of the rust as well?

    • @ScrewsAndTools
      @ScrewsAndTools  Před 4 lety
