Using a Hoyer Lift to Take a Shower

- I don't know for sure if it's recommended to use a Hoyer Lift for showering, but it worked in this circumstance. We don't necessarily recommend it in general, but it's the best we could do.

Clever idea...Recommended or not, i would've never thought of it! We learn from each other! What other ideas things could you do where the cabin is? Like was there accessible walking trail, etc? Was the hotel room an accessible room, granted you didn't stay there?
The hotel room was just a normal room, but that was plenty of room for all that we used it for. We did enjoy a paved walking trail a couple days (video soon on our family channel)
@@HopeAndSunshine Regular use of a hoyer in the shower is not recommended. In a pinch, as long as you and Abby were both there to maintain Raelynn's safety occasional showers in a hoyer are acceptable.

Interesting. Not sure how well putting a wet sling in bed would work. Wouldnt the bed and bed pads get super wet?
We always cover the bed with chux pads first. This provides a barrier between the bed, which we remove once we dry her off a bit.
Do you transfer her to a shower chair or just shower directly in the hoyer lift? I always see people say they usually transfer to a shower chair. Is the hoyer waterproof - I was not able to find any info on that anywhere on internet. I've got a new hoyer and I don't want it to break down in a short time from rust or water damage. But it would be much more convenient to shower directly in the hoyer without having to transfer in and out of a plastic shower chair.
I don't think they're waterproof. We transfer Raelynn to a bath chair for her showers. Hers is a rolling chair that she can lay flat on, and we roll it from her bedroom to her roll-in shower.

Well I hope you get one so you can get one for raelynn in and out of her wheelchairs and shower.and It will make it easyer for you and abby to give her showers better .and in and out of her wheelchair.
