I made homemade gifts one year and people laughed at my gifts and called me cheap. Family, friends, co-workers hated them. I never did it again. I thought everything was well done , thoughtful and a lovely idea. Unfortunately no one else thought so. I haven't given any gifts at all since then. Not a one. Now they get nothing. Love your ideas though. Very creative 👌

Nothing is worse than putting thought and time into a gift and no one appreciates it! I've held off on spoiling people lately bc I don't think people realize how much I struggle to buy gifts for everyone and they end up being rude

MC, your story made me sad, mostly for people you tried to give the most special 🎁 to - ☆Your time, talent & ❤. I LOVE those gifts the most & wish I had a friend who put your type of "extra touch" in a gift. ♡They say "Find your Tribe - Find your Vibe" .... I turn 60 soon, so working towards that very goal. ☺About darn time !!

Thank you for your very kind words. I did put alot of thought and work into those gifts. I love homemade gifts, so I don't understand their reactions. It hurt me deeply. No more gifts for anyone( other than children) bought or otherwise. I don't care if I get anything from them. I don't need anything. My sister and cousin were the worse ones. And they are crafters ! That was years ago and I haven't lived it down. Again, thank you.💖💖💖

I totally understand how you felt. I made really nice sets for teachers and other mother's said, "the teachers deserve more than that!' They were giving $50 gift cards to restaurants etc. And that was 10 years ago. People have lost sight of what a gift is....a gift. Not everyone can afford the same amount. But when it comes from the heart and is thoughtful, it's the best to me!

I did the mini sewing kit for my daughters new boyfriend last year for Christmas (2021). I didn't know him well. My daughter said he had expressed recent interest in sewing so I went with the idea :) Jokes on me because he told her that as a joke and she believed him. He absolutely adored it and went crazy when he saw it. He was so impressed how I came up with such a sweet and unique gift. He actually does sew now and I'd like to think I inspired him :)
He purposed in July and they are getting married next August (2023) 😍

There are only two 2 gifts that I have received in my life that I not only remember vividly but were my favourite gifts of all time. The first one was a wedding gift from my brothers that was a tote filled with all the things that a person would need to start out on your own. It contained things such as salt and pepper and salt and pepper shakers. Baking soda, baking powder, dish soap, washing machine detergent, a broom and ivory soap were just a few of the things in the tote. I took every single thing and wrote it on the card and it was a standard wedding card but it took two (2) columns to list what was in the tote.
The second was one I had to beg for. I asked for this for years and everyone who saw it, was incredible jealous. I asked my mom to hand write her recipes in a book so I would have them for the rest of my life. For so many years, she said that it wasn’t really a gift. I knew it would take a long time to make it. Finally, one Christmas, I opened a gift bag with measuring cups and spoons and a coil book filled with my Mother’s recipes. I made one change. I took the recipes out of the book and put them into page protectors so they would not get dirty.
Anyone who sticks their nose up at a homemade gift is not worth receiving that gift

I'm going to put the reindeer food mix in the jar with a reindeer glue to the top and make a sticker of the magic reindeer food poem in the front I think that would be beautiful. I enjoy receiving a gift someone took the time to make.
    Makes me feel very special.
Keep making gifts and ignore those who choose to be
    ungrateful and rude.
They would not be pleased with anything they received even
    if someone bought their gift.
Some just lose the meaning of Christmas.
It is not how much one spends, but the time they gave to
    make something special.

So many beautiful ideas for an advent calendar - just that I will use old jam jars instead of bought ones. Have so many jars of a certain brand, so the jars look all alike and I can just do something to the lids (like glueing festive wrapping paper over it or some festive cloth or even just a nice wool spiral. You inspired me here!

My aunt used to make personalized coca ornaments when I was a kid. She'd customize a hot coca mix by adding in the person's favorite things, like she'd use dark chocolate mix powder and some crushed candy canes for mine, and pour them into Christmas ornaments. She'd make several for each of us, but held onto one of ours so we could have a hot cocoa and movie marathon on Christmas Eve.
As an adult, my friend's late mom used to make those same ornament things for people she loved. You knew you were special when she gave you one.

      HOLIDAY BREAKFAST MENU GUIDE:
      BREAKFAST ITEMS:
      Fresh Fruit Medley:
Choose your favorite fruits in season! Chop up and place over fresh granola, nuts and seeds. Top with fresh yogurt, fresh cream or milk!
      Potato Cakes:
Mix mashed potatoes, flour, onion, egg, black pepper, and salt together in a bowl until batter consistency. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Drop 4-inch circles of batter into hot oil. Cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
      Poorman’s Breakfast:
Start with coffee or tea in the am! Maybe try one of the natural teas listed above? Start by heating up 1 Large Frying Pan and 2 Tblspn. Butter or Olive Oil at Medium High heat. Fry up 2 Large Eggs, and 2 Pieces of Whole Bread Toasted and Buttered. Place on plate. Next Chop up 2 Large Potatoes or 4 Red Potatoes and place in frying pan, add in diced Green Pepper, Red Pepper, Onions, Chives, Cilantro, Basil, Thyme, Pepper and Paprika, 1 Clove Garlic, Mustard Leaves diced. Mix and fry potatoes until golden brown in butter goodness! Place on plate! Serve with fresh coffee or tea, jam, fresh OJ and morning newspaper on table! You are sure to get a smile in the morning! Have a nice day honey!
      Apple and Cinamon Oatmeal:
Start by placing your cleaned oats into a pot for boiling, add a dash of salt. Boil oats for 10-15 Mins until done! Add in sliced Apple and 2 Tblspn. Cinnamon,
2 Tblspn. Brown Sugar, 2 Tblspn. Maple Syrup and stir. Cook until apples are soft and mixture is done! Serve in bowl with fresh cream on top or milk! Nice warm breakfast in the winter! Can serve with homemade breads, cheeses and tea or coffee if desired.
      Natural Granola and Seeds:
This one is easy! Pour granola, seeds and nuts into bowl and cover with fresh cream or milk! Can serve with fresh coffee and tea!
      Hot Buttered Scones and Fruit:
      Basic Scones:
In a small bowl, blend the 1 cup sour cream and 1 Tspn. baking soda, and set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a large baking sheet. In a large bowl, mix the 4 cups flour, 3 cups sugar, 2 Tspn. baking powder, ¼ Tspn. cream of tartar, and 1 Tspn. salt. Cut in the butter with
2 butter knives, criss crossing the bowl. Or you can use a pastry blender if you have one, to press the butter into the flour mixture. Stir the 1 cup sour cream and 1 egg mixture into the flour mixture until just moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead briefly. Roll or pat dough into a 3/4 inch thick round. Cut into 12 wedges, and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Baking 12 to 15 minutes in the oven, until golden brown on the bottom. Serve with fruits in season!
(You can add whole grains, dried fruit or nuts to your old fashioned scones, or just enjoy them plain with butter and jam! Yum!)
      Fruit and Cheese Plate:
Serve various cheeses and fruits in season on plate with homemade breads, butter, jam, coffee and tea!
Eggs and Country Fried Chicken Steaks:

In second bowl add 2 Cups Flower, and 2 Cups Corn Flakes or Bread Crumbs, add dash of Pepper and Paprika! Fry in 1 Large Frying Pan add 2 Tblspn. of Butter, 1 Clove of Garlic minced! While that is cooking, chop up 1 Green Pepper, 1 Red Pepper, 1 Onion,1 Boiled Potato diced, ¼ Cup Meat or Salmon diced, 1 Large Egg Scrambled. Put into a large bowl and mix. Add a dash of paprika, pepper, basil diced, garlic diced, oregano powder, cilantro diced and mix in. Add the rice into mixture. Add a splash of lemon over top for zip! This reminds me of the time we did secret Santa and I gave a celebrity perfume and a coworker made a comment about how cheap that was. It made me feel so bad especially since I was going thru a hard time financially. Christmas shouldn’t be labeled on what more and expensive gifts we give but about the time we spend with family and friends. I still haven’t forgotten that comment.
