I have a question: Over on my channel I have a superhero named SoulFire who I think deserves a proper revamp with the structure of your superhero chart. While I will admit that I can't draw and I prefer using a app series called "Gacha" by Luni aka a extremely awesome character creator... I love letting my brain go wild and coming up with ideas and you sir activated that side of my brain. May I use footage of your video and your character chart (I promise credit WILL be included) to make my own video with my own superhero? @drelixcomics for powers I recommend you give the ants maybe 1 more ability, acid guns are a possibility. Also, the locusts could use an extra ability, maybe a sound related attack or something.

I actually feel kind of ashamed as you achieved it all while being younger and while I'm at my lowest but I'm trying to translate this feeling into motivation for working harder and having progress!

The theme of Mutant powers is that they are themed. They all fall under 3 categories: telepathy, telekinesis and physical. Characters like Storm are very precise telekinetics. Storm moves molecules to the point of causing static that appears to be lightning. Same with pushing molecules to look like making wind. Rogue would seem like a physical, but she’s a telepath. She’s an example of a character putting restrictions on themself. Instead of being like Xavier and Jean, she made it that she has to touch you to read your mind. In doing so, she knows your powers and skills. Her brain knowing how to use the powers changes her molecules to use them. Synch is Rogue without needing to touch (restriction of being close). Her powers is mental gymnastics in that if she touches Cyclops she sometimes needs his ruby lenses. But he can’t control it because of an injury she doesn’t have. His memories tells him he can’t control it so it’s in her mind that she can’t control it. If she didn’t put restrictions on herself, Rogue would be the most powerful Marvel character.

As a young comic creator, this video was extremely helpful with making my own simple yet effective power system, i am still in the world building stage, wish me luck.
Great job on creating this video I really enjoyed it alot, also I noticed that for the Termites helmet, I remember seeing that design when you were busy designing the main bad guy's combat armour, the both of their helmets are similar

I really like the world building youve done, its very well thought out and this is a good primer for anyone else who wants to create their own superhero world. Its a good idea set the ground rules for your world before you start.
You should make a winged ant hybrid as a single unique character that the ants experimented with. Or a character with Flea powers that works as a for-hire assassin for the Locusts.

You inspired me to make my own comic, i think you should kind of make sub-swarm like blood bending and stuff. More variant which is might be stronger or kind of like that but you have to undergo series of surgeries and experiments to get artificial (Custom) swarm.
For example Mantis swarm for the main villain and no other can use it or can get it swarm without undergoing series of devastating pain, experiments and stuff

Kamen rider in which a hero is experimented on by an evil organisation and the hero escapes to takedown the said organisation and multiple bugs remind me of kamen rider kabuto and king ohger in which it has multiple factions but your story is unique because it has multiple factions and all of its members have powers not just one but all of them and they have weaknesses no gonna lie I'm excited where this story will go bug themed superheroes and multiple factions sign me up

In my own superhero universe, the source of superpowers is mainly the "Day 0 Event" which is basically inspired by Generator Rex' Nanite Event and Esper Awakening from Dislyte mobile game, this "Event" was a science experiment gone wrong and is responsible for creation of my animal themed, "X-Men inspired" team. There's also the discovery of interdimensional structure which is a blueprint for impossible things made possible (its a literal blueprint and not a metaphor or allegory). I need to rework my superhero world better cause "magic based" powers also exist

I have an idea for another swarm. Meet the crabs They are an orange coloured species who have the powers of a very strong grip and the ability to breathe underwater. They are natural swimmers and their claws are really just something else. but they are the slowest of the bunch and are not that fast on reflexes either. The male counterparts will be stronger whilst females will be faster

make it to where the bads guys make an evil swarm called the wasp swarm and theyre like evil doubles of the bee swarm and are made specifically to combat all other swarms like they could have stingers which have nxd venom i them. and they could be a squad of them and they are the evil twin of the superhero team. i think this is a sick idea and you can use it if you want, js an idea. btw im a huge fan
This sounds cool. It reminds me of Bio-Booster Armor Guyver, an old anime with a mechanic similar to the swarm (in a way). It also reminds me of the symbiotes from Spider-Man.

the bee man suit looks very similar to a comic superhero written in my country known as TEBUAN MAN. he gains the power from a mystical bee in the deep forest of temburong which is a district in my country brunei darussalam.
How powers work in my world (still working on making it)
1. Crystals that are found a deep inside of ancient structures and they fuse into the body not leaving any trace of them but granting you an elemental power (Elemental is a very lose term here for power for there is Fire, Water, and Earth yes but there's also Poison, Illusions, and Metal)
2. Finding the first crystal in the chain (earth) to get the rest
3.N/A (not sure if I want to go down a path of long forgotten race or gods
4.11 different ones so far
5.Each element effects the body differently like change your core temperature, your density, how fast your blood flows, and much more
5. Each element can only do so much, and certain things can make the side effect happen a lot sooner along with the fact that are limits to what you can do
EXAMPLE: blood manipulation requires both water and plasma crystals (Crystals 2 and 11)

My comic has many ways to obtain abilities and mainly they are not easy to come by or get, it will have some challenges limitations and some suffering to gain some, one of my characters was trapped in a realm that exist in the deepest darkest areas of the planet and he was surrounded by shadow for so long that he gained a connection w the shadows when he finally made it back home after keeping his spirits alive and teleporting to his most cherished destination, his house, another one was cursed to be an angry bear to be hunted down while growing on a murderous rampage but was stopped when he broke into a church and was burned into his human form but quickly requested a silver crucifix chain around his neck to cancel his transformation, now he wears it all day everyday and removes it when it’s needed, and he will have to be beaten to sleep, killed, or held down to put a his chain back on.

I think the Locus due to their enhanced leg strength should be the fastest of the insectits and the Bee's are the most intelligents.

Two, just a note, the female locusts having less leg strength than the males doesn’t really make sense. Human women usually have stronger legs than men, and men usually have stronger upper bodies. Just a note! This concept is awesome!

It kinda reminds me of Kamen Rider, a japanese superhero that wears an armor with a bug theming. The swarmlets also remind me of kamen rider's transformation belt. Pretty cool so far.

Just a thought: maybe you could introduce something like "regional variants", where aspects of the individual insectids vary, either according to the region they live in or get bonded to their swarm (so, for example, if you get bonded to a swarm in, let's say, south africa, you'd display characteristics of a Type of insect native to south africa), or according to where the person comes from (so, for example, if you were from an asian country, like China or Japan, you'd likely display characteristics of insects from there).
These characteristics could be purely aestetic, like different colours or patterns, or parts of their body looking different from others of the same Type (like, I know this one isn't in your system, but for example instead of a normal praying mantis, you look more like an orchid praying mantis), or give different advantages, like, for example, if your swarm is based on a japanese honey bee, you could have a higher heat tolerance, stemming from how they defend themselves against hornets.
That way, you could keep to this system of four factions, while keeping it interesting, like Avatar did with stuff like bending lightning, blood, plants or metal.

You know they actually have done the human biting animal thing in the book series called The Bloodhound files by D.D. Barrant. Sort of. The series takes place in an alternate timeline of earth were magic is real and there are 4 sapient species living there. Humans, golems, vampires, and were wolves. Around WWII the supernatural presence on the world took over and reduced humans to around less than 5% of the worlds total population. During that ....transitional period where the wolves and vampires were at war they both started forcefully turning as many humans as possible and as a result of that some of the younger were's went crazy and started attacking animals as well.This resulted in a large population of animals, mostly canine, that are normal for most of the month but that turn into humans during the full moon phase while still retaining their original minds. The really interesting thing story wise is that they gain both a human's lifespan and a human's ability to learn, not necessarily their intelligence, while they are shifted into human form and any knowledge or skills they master carry over into their regular forms.
So a few thoughts;
First off, nice job creating your system. Not sure if a few tidbits might help but I will share and you can take or leave what you want. Your comic, your rules after all and not setting out to slam anyone here. So my first thought was regarding locusts. Fun. I like that you chose them and that you made them the least "top down" social structure. I am a bit confused that you didn't give them a sort of glider wing aspect, possibly even having the females use a larger wingspan than the males so that while the males can jump higher and further, the females can glide a bit further, giving them similar range per jump but with the females saving a bit more energy with each "stride" which would compensate for the decreased strength and stamina allowing a "swarm" to move together effectively over large distances. An obvious vice for locusts would be that their distaste for being ruled and perhaps their gluttony cause them to not fight as effectively as a team.
This brings us to termites. In nature, these are the preferred food of the so-called anteaters because they are less acidic and have softer bodies than ants making them an easy source of food. Many termites largely depend on soldiers to defend them from ants. These soldiers can be male or female (which is unique in the insect kingdom) and they are extraordinarily strong though still soft around the abdomen, using the oversized mandibles to give them reach and control an area with these oversized weapons. Of course, there's no reason you couldn't make this "mandible" take various weapon forms depending on the user which would make termite soldiers like the superheroes of their colony. This also lends to the concept that if termites are so specialized that they only have certain members as soldiers, then do they also have hidden special groups for other fields that could potentially disrupt the power balance, giving them an edge if they succeed or an disadvantage if the ants take it? It adds to the flavor of the rivalry.
Moving on to ants, they are amazing tacticians and if the termite is the king of specialization, the ant is king of the amorphous "everyman" that coordinates in the moment (possibly telepathically?) so that each knows exactly what to do for the group to move forward. What they lack in individual strength (which logically would exceed all but termite soldiers) they make up for in numbers and tactics. Clearly a very military mindset would be in play here.
Now bees are fascinating. I gather you chose electric powers to replace the heat generated by bees when they crowd around invading hornets and vibrate to "cook" the assailant to limit the casualties. ...a diabolically clever tactic bees use. Their sting is also a last resort self sacrifice move in nature but you could sidestep this slightly with your choice of electricity by making it short out their power for a time, leaving them temporarily powerless until they recharge. This could also lead to some interesting conflict and tension between them and the termites who have the specialists to help them improve their capacity for energy storage but at the cost of sacrificing the secrets of their genetic code. This could be even further complicated if a new faction arises when the ants steal the technology... This leads me to Wasps/murder hornets who would be almost an amalgam of termite soldiers, ants, and bees and would take all four factions uniting to bring them down because they are more than the ants bargained for and not as easily controlled as they thought. This could even be made most painfully driven home by the ants not having the bee ability to see the ultraviolet part of the spectrum (which could be exploited by the wasps to subvert the ants right from under their nose) and lead to the termites bringing in the bees to be the eyes of the operation. These are just my thoughts. I love world building and stuff like this is my bread and butter. Again, you have a fun system and there's a lot you can do with those building blocks.

Have you heard about japanese honey bees? If a hornet comes to scout their Hive, the bees swarm the hornet, vibrating their bodies, creating enough heat to cook the hornet. And I think, the limit of how much heat the bees can take before they get cooked is just one or two degrees higher than that of the hornets.
And there are bees, I think it was in south america, that are a metallic blue-green in colour, that have tongues that are about double the length of the bees body.
That s so cool! You can do it man; are you also drawing the issues? I would like to tell stories like this but I cant draw; I saw that somebody gets an artist but I dont understand where how and how do they manage payment if the story has yet to be published
