imagine trying to hold it together singing your mother's signature song. this little lady not only sings well but she's tough. somewhere momma is listening and i'm sure very proud.
I cry every time I watch this video, as I am right now. This is the greatest tribute I could think of anyone giving to Dawn. Dawn's passing was a huge loss to the music world and to me. One of my favorite singers. Tess knocked this song out of the park, just as her mother did.
wow... what a beautiful song, and such a brave and emotional performance from Dawn's daughter. ... she looks just like her mom.. RIP Dawn... shine down from heaven on your loved ones....
it always amazes me how people can sing (as in this case) , or read a eulogy without breaking down. imagine having to do this right after you're mom dies. take that rare courage doesn't it.
Dawn was not widely known in Australia, and I have only come to know her, thanks to CZcams. But she was exceptional and I love her real country sound. Looks like she had a house full of talent. She left a great legacy with her beautiful voice. I wish I'd come to know her earlier.
There is no way to describe how emotional this must be for her daughter and to come out and sing that song in the same style her mother did took a whole lot of courage. Rest in peace Dawn and God bless her family in dealing with this great loss.
Oh I just learned of Dawn Sears' passing. I'll never forget hearing her with the Time Jumpers at that same Nashville club, many years ago, with friends who said, "Wait until you hear this woman sing." and they were so right. I just cried my eyes out, remembering my own mother, gone for 4 years now. God bless this family, you can tell how much they miss her. RIP to a wonderful talent and warm wishes to her very gifted daughter too.
Tess,Honey...you are the bravest soul besides your Mama, that I know. You made her proud and all the rest of us cry like babies. I'm glad you didn't look at Vince, cause he would have never made it through. May you and your family realize just how much you all are in our thoughts and prayers. You have our every sympathy and so much love...God bless you....
Amen, just saw this vid, and tears are an accurate description. Wonderful voice, like her Mom. Thanks for sharing even if I'm years late in finding this wonderful performance.
Tess, I'm not sure you read all the Great things that has been said about your Mom, I have never met any of you, but my Heart goes out to you all and your friends and Fans, I play the Music Vidoes of your Mom every Morning, she had a Voice like no other, and for you, you did something that most of us could never have done, my Mom to died of cancer, I could not play any songs that my Mom liked for a very long time, and you got on stage and Sang SWEET MEMORIES, and like one Lady said here, good thing you never looked at Vince Gill, all of you would have folded, Tess, you have Music in your family, use it, it would be great to see you one day in your Moms Seat, your Mom sang every song as if she was singing about here life, I am so sad for all of us, but she now is in a place where she can look down on you and see the Great Lady you turned out to be..A great fan of your Mom, Dale
Well said Tom. I never got to see my mom before she died of scepcis in a hospital far away from me, as I was so ill with pneumonia. I just got to the cremertoriem to see her little coffin, 3 weeks after that, my heart gave out, I live on tablets now.
Such a beautiful tribute! Dawn had one of the best voices if not the best voice in country music! Than you Tess, I hope you continue with your amazing voice!
I wrote a message 3 years ago, tonight I was going over some of the people that have passed since then, I had the opportunity to see them in Moncton, New Brunswick. I'm still amazed at the voice that I hear when Dawn Sears sings, I listen often hope you're doing good too. God Bless..
Dear Tess, your Mom is proud of you, I'm pretty sure that she could hear you all from Heaven,. God bless you and your Dad, you made me cry, beautiful young Lady. What a magnificent tribute to your Mother. Thank you Tess !!!
Great song great tribute and fine singing. The steel guitar is just phenomenal thanks for sharing I started off watching the Ray Price version of this song and I ended here very glad I did
Such a strong, wonderful young lady. Dawn would be so proud as I am sure Kenny is. Cannot think of a better tribute to the wonderful Dawn Sears would could move souls with her voice.
Wow is all I can say !! A tribute to MOM in a very special way. You certainly have mom's voice no doubt about that. She was a fantastic singer as well as a good singing partner to Mr. Gill. You not only have mom's voice but I can detect some Connie Smith in your voice much as your mom did. Although she is irreplaceable you can keep her memory going with your voice. Mr. Gill is very good at recognizing talent as I listen to his singing that has perfect harmony, and I'm sure he recognized that in Dawn Sears. I hope she is resting in peace knowing that all will turn out well, except for the missing part, keep up the good work and make your folks proud. A Dawn Sears Fan.
i'm back listening to this for about the hundredth time and i just struck me as i watch kenny sears watch his daughter sing. it must have been equally hard on him.
Dawn was one of the best country singers ever. A lack of support and promotion from her record label is the only reason she was not a household name. It wasn't for a lack of talent. Eva Cassidy was another one that people did not get to hear. I understand business and making money but some people are so good that their voices should be recorded no matter what.. What a loss for all of us.
Such a beautiful tribute to your mama, Dawn Sears. I have seen her many, many times with Vince Gill over the years. Bless you sweet Tess, your mama was beautiful in heart and in voice. Carry her specialness in your heart forever. May we never forget the sweetness our Mothers carry with us forever.... ❤️💕
Not much I can say except, WOW! Wonderful job Tess! I know that had to be extremely difficult. Dawn was such a special talent. Her voice was angel like! Great job again! RIP Dawn Sears
Even before she opened her mouth, the band hit the first few notes and my heart went up in my throat, knowing what was to come, just like her Mother, she has the same voice.
i feel for her. i see her screwing up the courage to do this song. the woo woo at the beginning would put me over the edge. she does a hell of a job of this song. she doesn't have her mother's polish yet, but she sure has the pipes.
Tess....I can't begin to imagine how you felt on that stage. I never met your mom and I, not long ago, found her music. I was so impressed by her talent that I would listen to her music every chance I got. That kind heart can not be taught.... it has to give by an almighty God. I guess I will never understand why He takes some folks home when He does.... but it just seems too soon to me. But what do I know. Like the song that Aaron Wilburn wrote with his wife.... "His way is God's way not yours or mine". I take comfort in that. I will miss her.
WOW! This made me cry! My son lived in Nashville and after two or three nights downtown I told him I liked listening to the musicians there but I wanted something really Country. He told me had just the place to take me! I was blown away when Dawn Sears got up and sang this. What a voice she had. I've listened many times to her here on CZcams, never realizing there was a daughter "Tess" with the same beautiful, amazing voice. ❤😢 ❤❤❤
I can't imagine how difficult that was for Tess and Kenny. God bless 'em both.
LOVED DAWN SEARS AND THIS LITTLE LADY CAN SURE SING!!
imagine trying to hold it together singing your mother's signature song. this little lady not only sings well but she's tough. somewhere momma is listening and i'm sure very proud.
Saginaw Michigan bob Quinn
My goodness she looks like her momma. this is wonderful. I loved Dawn. God rest her soul.
I am sure, her mother is proud looking down. and the members of the band are soo proud of her. Her father is the proudest!
Not only does she have her mother's looks, she has her voice also.
What an incredible tribute to her Mother Dawn, I can't imagine how anyone could pull off such a performance after the loss she suffered.
Golly, that is beautiful. Dawn had to be smiling down on her daughter from Heaven!!!
I cry every time I watch this video, as I am right now. This is the greatest tribute I could think of anyone giving to Dawn. Dawn's passing was a huge loss to the music world and to me. One of my favorite singers. Tess knocked this song out of the park, just as her mother did.
Boy, you can hear Dawn in her daughter, such a sweet gift.
Tess has that amazing gift with a beautiful voice, just like her Mom, from her heart.
Amazing Tess, Amazing. Your mother would be very proud.......
OMG she sounds just like her mother. God Bless you!!
wow... what a beautiful song, and such a brave and emotional performance from Dawn's daughter. ... she looks just like her mom.. RIP Dawn... shine down from heaven on your loved ones....
Thank you for singing "Sweet Memories" you are definitely one strong little lady! Keep it up!
it always amazes me how people can sing (as in this case) , or read a eulogy without breaking down. imagine having to do this right after you're mom dies. take that rare courage doesn't it.

That's the most emotional solo I've ever heard from Paul Franklin. Brought tears to my eyes.
Indeed it is. Paul is crying in Hughey-land. Just beautiful.
Paul took a vacation up to Hughey Land and stuck around to get us a couple of souvenirs
