Do not let ANYONE disrespect ufotable ever again, idgaf if there were seven recap episodes, this was. Perfect. Like, this wasn't just a scene of insane animation, this was an EPISODE of it, with no breaks, non stop action..... this might be the best episode in anime. Period.
It wasnât recap episodes. Only countries like japan and USA got the mugen train movie in theatres but this show has fans worldwide, so they had the movie split into like 7 episodes that people from countries where the movie didnât release can also catch up to the story.

This concept of survivorâs guilt shouldnât be overlooked. I love how this show repeatedly shows the reoccurring concept of this guilt that tanjiro carries whilst trying to deal with it and overcoming it. He constantly apologies for everything and blames himself. The death of his family, rengokuâs death, inosukeâs fake death etc. he shouldnât have to shoulder these responsibilities alone even if thatâs what he feels as a lone survivor. The scene with nezuko and her dialogue really hit hard. Tanjiro is such a well written mc and is why heâs one of my favourite protagonists.
Even tho he kinda falls into the "Never give up" hopeful good guy protagonist, it's pretty interesting to see how weirdly different Deku and Tanjiro are despite being so similar. Deku feeling inferior and pathetic vs Tanjiro feeling guilty and feeling like he must make sure no one feels the pain he's felt! Pretty neat ass ways of writing a very bland type of character into a distinguishable one!

It amazes me how this man can be making constant jokes during emotional moments, but a few seconds later he'll be crying the most out of all of them đ

They never exactly explain techniques in this show but Tengenâs âMusical Scoreâ is his ability to analyze his opponents attacks throughout a fight and break down the ârhythmâ of their movement. In his head their movement appears to him like written music which lets him predict when he needs to dodge or block. The only downside is it takes a long time for him to âwrite the musicâ which is why he didnât use it at the start of the fight. The musical score is the only reason he could still keep up with Gyutaro after losing his hand.
Basically he sees the pattern into the enemyâs tempo and translates to rhythm.
Hence why he is the Sound Hashira

Uzui has analyzed combat maneuvers to the point where he can read them like music sheets. He converts the rhythm of the enemies attack into sound so that every fight becomes a song. He hears repeated phrases and can attack between beats and during the rest, dancing with his opponent.
One of by far the coolest function powers. It feels amazing to see it animated as well.

this entire season has been animated beautifully, couldn't have asked for more really other than more epsiodes, i have read the manga but this gave me goosebumps, when uzue took charge for the win, that fight scene has to be one of the best anime fight scene of all time, it draws you in with expressions

Also since they utilize a lot of 3D assets they absorb them and shelve them for future usage.
the way Tengen fought is exactly how you fight on a darksouls game: you learn the patterns, (which tend to be in synch with the music), try to evade the attacks, wait of an opening which means sometimes you have to take the hit in order to get the hit.

Don't forget, the Master said that this is the strongest generation of Hashira. Flame Hashira was able to hold his own for a while against an even stronger Moon Demon. And Sound Hashira can easily go toe to toe with the brother (while the sister is not even a challenge) but was weakened only cuz of the poison.

The fights are to the level where you LITERALLY are on the edge of your seat, because unlike other Anime with the main characters having OP powers & stuff, here it's simple humans against SUPERNATURAL-POWERED DEMONS, and every fight has you scared on just how in the world they pull through.

@doire aintu Mainly within the fight yes. Demon Slayer always had pretty consistently good animation. The movie was just solid good throughout. But they for sure cranked the special effects department to a 20 with this arc in particular.

This is why I love Gyutaro as a villain. He captures what is means to a demon perfectly: ruthless, disgusting, and to feared and damned by others. Itâs the reason why belittles Tanjiro for not being strong enough, and even breaks his fingers. Heâs just revolting, and the animators did a wonderful job with him. And, fun fact, his one of Muzanâs favorites based off his ruthless and disgusting nature.
