In my opinion this is not how a classroom should be. The children are not having fun, you can tell this by their faces. They are scared of the teacher or to do something wrong. They must dread school to know that they have to face that every day.
I'm not a teacher, but this is a great video of what a classroom can look like, I'm going to share it with new refugee students to demonstrate how an American classroom is expected to run.
Thank you for this video. I'll ask my students to write down the list. Don't read the negative comments, it just makes our teaching lives miserable. Thanks again.
In the morning they should be this quiet so they can prepare their minds for the rest of the day. If they start the day off loud, lol man you will have problems by lunch time. Its just like starting your work day off. Compare the workers who get to work early, sit there and drink some coffee. then compare the worker who comes in 2 mins before clock in time. that last min worker will always have more stress than the one that came in early. because he has no time to relax and prepare mentaly.
Classroom Rules 1. Keep feet and hands to yourself 2. Sit with feet on floor 3. Bottom on seat 4. Facing table or desk 5. Walk 6. Use quiet voices 7. Raise your hand 8. Wait for your turn 9. Ask before you borrow 10. Return borrowed items 11. Be on time 12. Take care of your property
I'd rather have well-behaved kids than out-of-control brats who refuse to listen to the teacher and cause other students from learning. I went through the same thing when I was in elementary class, students had respect for their teachers, and it was rare that one was sent to the principal's office. Nowadays, kids are beating up teachers and brining weapons to school.
Is it really mandatory to have "both feet on floor" and "bottom on seat"? Is it going to jeopardize the classroom in a kid sits cross legged on his chair?
What happened to those poor kids! The only time classes are ever THIS quiet is during major tests, and sometimes not even then! This is just unnatural! What did that teacher do to them?!?!!!??!!?!!
Wow, there is so much stuff taped onto the white board that this teacher hardly has any room to write. Why didn't she create a model of a poster to share with her class or at least talk about ideas for the posters?! And while the kids work on the posters, what is she doing? Just walking around in a circle? I don't get it.
I don't think this is quite a normal behaviour for a class a children. I mean, this is more like pure discipline. I guess, if one of them dare to break the rule, he is going to be punished ? huhuhuhu ^^ This is just a coreography, isn't it ? It doesn't even looks like the average behaviour for a normal nice kid, then how can you expect such a behaviourto comes from a intrinsic will ? Behaviourism can make children wise, but it doesn't make them want to become wise. It's my opinion.
Thats the problem in public schools now. Children of this age lacks dicipline in the sence children are taught at home to not fear the teacher so by the time the child gets to school he has no respect for authority. If the teacher (quote) diciplines him the parent goes off on the school. Children needs structure in order to get the attention they need. Childrens behavior comes from a lack of attention. Give them attention by giveing them structure. No quick answer but it works in the long hall
I am bored - where is the creativity in this class. Nice queuing system but thats about it. The children don't look interested, there is no relationship between the children and the teacher and I sure as hell hope the children have been told about these carnival posters beforehand because I would have no idea what to do for my poster!
We learn nothing from watching this video- feels forced and artificial. Kids are either actors or have been coached for a long time. Kids walking stiffly and robotic. What kids do not talk when given permission to? Other than proximity and some praise, I see no corrective behavior management used here i.e. no reminding, reteaching rules or procedures, no "student-first", specific corrective actions taken.
This classroom situation becomes extremely hypothetical when teacher asks them to go and grab their supplies.

oh please! I wish my students were HALF this obedient!

I've walked in MANY classrooms that are this quiet. The question is...should they be?
I am a teacher and my kids do not act this way. I'm pretty sure or hoping they are acting this way for the video.
I bet the staff meetings don’t look like this. Great plan if we want to raise up a bunch of robot followers. 🥴
This could be pretty good for my classroom.
Another one for the list of things I will never witness in my lifetime

they are quiet because they know they are on camera

What's wrong with the guys making those unfounded comments? This is what a good class should look like.

happy birthday Miss Jones
Good tutorial
the teacher's voice annoys me, i think i would have died in this jail cell of a class room and a chalkboard screech of a teacher
WTF? Dont you think your being a little too strict?
Just a normal disciplined class. Like my daugter's one.
im very polite i do all that things
That is just ... No i would love to have fun, im in 7th grade and we talk or course but we not that quiet
Yeah, mostly in the United States.
they cant tell me what to do
Myeh,I think that talking with your friends, without using like, church mouse voices, kids need to be loud, dont hate me,ehhhheheheheheheh.

poorly developed, not actual situation obviously.
