I used valve grinding compound on my Fiskars push mower. Huge difference between adjusting the blade and sharpening with the valve grinding compound

Hi. Novice DIY landscaper here that just purchased Sun Joe. Thanks for the video. Why do you have 2 rollers? What is the function of the front roller in striping
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! I just order my Sun Joe and already doing mods on paper. I thought of the idea of no wheels and there you are bang doing no wheels. Maybe have a grooved roller on the front like Greenmaster just to get the grass to stand up.I was getting excited to buy an Allett but BIG $$$$$. This Sun Joe is the ticket. Now if You can do mods I'm sure Sun Joe or other companies can do similar. They need you on their design team.

Very nice. How did you take the yellow gear off? The one connected to the reel. It appears there is a pin, but not sure how to remove it.

Brah, I got a Sun Joe. I love the cut, but twice already (in the first week) I've ended up with a bend blade and it takes forever to get it back close to true. Even then it doesn't cut as good as new. I cannot get it back to cutting paper all the way across the blade. Do you have any tips to fix this blade? Or better yet as many different mowers as you have tried are there any that are more bulletproof that don't cost thousands of dollars?
You know that’s funny cause I messed up the blade the first day too 😂 I get the blade really close to the bed knife almost squeaky when turning and it’s cutting paper really sharp! Maybe get it straight get it close and do a backlap that should do the job cause mine is super sharp! 😊🙌🏾🤙🏾🙏🏾
Looks like you're having good luck with it! I went through 2 in a month then shelled out for a Toro Flex21. The smallest unseen piece of trash in the lawn will destroy the bedknife/blade. Not good when birds drop stuff in the lawn like dead baby turtles lol, for real.

@@YardBrah it's awesome. Many, many levels up. The floating head is nice especially since my backyard isn't table top smooth yet. And the weight of this beast has done a number on many of the small undulations in the lawn. Especially mowing when the lawn is still soft after a light rain.
A heavier roller on the back and you’d got yourself alley liberty without the drive or cartridges. Attach a sprocket to the rear roller and drive shaft and you get a drive. Probably extra work that’s not needed for a lawn your size though. Love the content though. Not everyone can afford a 3000$ mower
Actually when I created this channel I was thinking demographic would be smaller lawns and budget friendly but that’s gone out the door seeing subscribers with a variety of sizes and smaller lawns owning swardmans 😂 who are we kidding if you’re messing with you lawn this heavy you got money to burn 😂😂😂 but for now we will stick to mowers that everyone can afford 🤙🏾thanks for tuning in 😊🙌🏾🤙🏾🙏🏾

This is unbelievable! I wonder what removing the wheels lowers the minimum HOC to! Wow.
The way I’ve positioned the front roller at the lowest height of cut it might need the wheels on as the frame sits lower than the roller right now. Needs some tweaking to get it right at all heights. It’s sits perfect at thr 2nd setting which used to be 1.1 inches with my measuring it sits at a perfect 1” now 😊🙌🏾🤙🏾🙏🏾
Running the motor with grinding compound have the same effect as backlapping?
yeah grinding compound is pretty much the same only thing is you're going to go through a ton of it... you should put a good amount on to get some nice results... I originally purchased grinding compound but then this bucket of backlapping compound came with the McLane I purchased 😊🤙🏾

YardBrah, how well does the mower push without the factory wheels and now with the front and rear rollers compared to no modifications?
It’s effortless! Feels a lot more sturdy… feels like you’re really in control… for some reason with the wheels on it felt like I was just pushing around a typical manual reel with an electric motor attached, with the mods it feels a lot more expensive if you will 😂 😊🙏🏾🙌🏾🤙🏾

Finished the mods today and they roll nicely. The only thing I added was adding a 1-1/2" pvc pipe onto the metal front roller so that metal tube won't get dinged up.
Also added the front roller to my EGO 21" rotary mower and no more scalping!

Brah how does backlapping actually sharpen reel blades if you're not actually filing the blades with something physical like a grinding wheel, or knife sharpener?
You use the compound that is gritty, that compound gets in between the reel and the bedknife creating a sharp edge super nice! It’s crazy I did it on the Sunjoe push reel and it went from dull the sharp in less than 10 minutes! 😊🙌🏾🤙🏾🙏🏾

Yo, Yard Brah, i just unboxed my sunjoe. Been sitting brand new for 2 or 3 years 😂 question is the handle. It sits sow low, is that normal? Its like 2 ft off the ground and it wont stay upright.
Dang you have a brand new Sunjoe 😳😂👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 unfortunately yes the handle doesn’t sit up tall I was trying to figure something out. Actually that little pressure up helps with the stripes after you mod it 😉😂🤙🏾

Nice. However, not quite sure if when sharpening it you suppose to turn counter clockwise. I believe I heard that on some video such as these. Well let me watch again that part if it is turning clockwise or counter clockwise.

I understand that part. That mower has a hieght of cut that goes down to .6". My question was asking if taking those wheels off drops that height of cut bellow the .6. Also what motor drives the reel? Has anyone upgraded it to stop the washboarding effect?
Make sure you check the little plastic engine housing near reel....I lost one due to a buildup of grass around the engine...it fried the engine.
