This is not a good idea for long term. A day will come when you need defrost and it wont work, which can put you In a dangerous situation. The problem these cars have is the rubber seals Ford used on the doors inside the HVAC box melt from the heat output, when that happens the rubber turns to glue and the doors get stuck, then after excessive force the actuator cables wind up breaking. The only way to fix this is to take the dash apart and repair the doors, which is not so bad only a few hrs of work. I wound up wrapping the edges of my doors with metal ducting tape, bought new cables and my HVAC works like new

Its a temporary fix. You still have to adjust it by hand every time you want to change the vent settings. At some point you'll have to get the cables and/or motors replaced.
Thanks a lot for sharing this... great video. However, as an old Engineer I would humbly suggest that you get rid of that bangle you're wearing ...we want to see more videos! Sooner or later you'll get that caught on something mechanical just when you don't want it to!

Personally I found it really difficult to see what you're actually doing. The plastic enclosure hides what you are doing in there. If anyone can explain the actual process, that would be a big help.
