Tracking Drums With 80's Fostex E16 Analog Tape Machine

  • Recording drums on a Fostex 1/2 inch multitrack recorder along with a soundcraft ghost, I also don't play drums lmfao, no real processing was applied, just the raw mics, only the kick was compressed very slightly and that mic shoved into the mackie had the highs turned all the way down, worked very well overall, just wanted to show a bit about what its sounds like to record on tape, all sounds after mention of 'overheads' are from the fostex directly

      yep, at least after 0:58, though that section i boosted the audio a bit, no processing yeah just was the file i recorded in audacity in the background

      I recorded myself playing the drums at the same time i recorded it on tape, then recorded myself playing it back, nothing too particular, more meant to show how the machine and setup sounds

      hey i'm trying at the very least! I do wanna get an actual band through this machine one day though, it wants it, I want it, we all are so down to see it

      It's not about the drumming per se in this video. It's more of a test to record drums to tape.

      @@oliverjackson5070 yep, this was like month 9 of owning it? i had only really recorded fully complete stuff like vinyls and full mixes onto it before this, I wanted to see what it'd sound like with raw tracks
