There are good lateral movement opportunities as well as opportunities to move to other federal agencies. So in a way, it actually does make sense. As far as them making videos about anything they do mission/investigation wise, that's a different beast.

If you are around or near the White House, you will for sure run into a Secret Service officer on a bike! I've had conversations with a few of them myself. Some of them are cool regular guys! I had a conversation with one on a bike about my tints, since they are super dark, lol! He was a very cool guy, and you could tell that he loves his job! Here in Washington D.C. you will come across so many different police forces. If I'm correct, we have the most heavily policed city in the country as far as having so many different types of police. We may not have as many as NYC as far as numbers, but we definitely have the many different divisions, for sure! There is a police force for everything in this city, even down to Special Police! I guess they do it that way so they don't have to take city police away from their jobs for every little situation!

It's similar to the uniformed division of other federal agencies, FBI Police, CIA police, DIA police, Pentagon Protection Force etc etc. They mostly protect properties and employees of the agency they're under, and enforce other laws as authorized, while other divisions handle and execute the statutory tasks of the agency.

The USSS is under the Homeland Security Department when it was established. They still investigate currency, counterfeiting, and some other financial crimes as well.
