    The Miniature Australian Shepherd is a dog breed of great agility and dexterity. They are well known for their speed and their ability to complete tasks quickly and accurately. The breed’s intelligence makes them particularly suitable for obedience training, but they also excel in herding tasks.
    Exercise is important for every dog, especially the Miniature Australian Shepherd. As with any dog, exercise helps build strong bones and muscles that can support its overall health. The Miniature Australian Shepherds love to run and should be taken on a daily walk or jog at least an hour long.

    Mini Aussies are NOT low shedders. But they seem to shed in clumps, making it easier to keep hair off of everything.

    I have a mini Aussie and have had him since 12 weeks. Invest in toys, learn to groom dogs, and don’t get them fixed till the two year mark once fixed they gain weight easily.

    What they are describing in the video is actually the Miniature American Shepherd, officially recognized by the AKC and the CKC. They are frequently and incorrectly called the Miniature Australian Shepherd. There is no such breed, but are called mini Aussies because of their looks. Either way, the Miniature American Shepherd is almost as gorgeous as the true Australian Shepherd (I'm biased though)

    • @cj3720
      @cj3720 Před rokem

      The miniature Australian Shepherd (registered by the ASDR) predates anything "registered" by the AKC, so your saying they are NOT official is bogus and a direct result of the AKC trying to take over all breeds like they owned all of dog-dom! They don't and those of us who love our breed demand they keep their foul standards from ruining our intelligent working dogs like they ruined cocker spaniels and German shepherds.

      One and the same!

    • @Norinia
      @Norinia Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@rustythecat2163Not quite. The Miniature American Shepard is smaller than a Australian Shepard, plus was bred in USA.
      Also, their smaller size should cause them to wear out and become tired than a full size Australian Shepard would (not that they lack for energy, to be sure)
      There is a reason for the named differences between the breeds, please don’t just say ‘one and the same’ again. There are important differences.

    I have been trying to convince my parents to let me get a mini Australian shepherd that I found for sale… I have two dogs of my own currently. Does anyone know if this breed gets along with other dogs?

    My mini aussie never hardly ever shed.

  • @cj3720
    @cj3720 Před rokem +1

    This info deviates from the REAL Australian Shepherd Dog Registry and should not be regarded as an authentic description of the breed. ASDR has no weight restrictions. Height is between 14 and 17 inches at the shoulder for the minis. Standards are 17 and over, with toys under 13.
    Aussies need at least 1.5 to 2 hours of exercise daily, and are happiest when they get 3 to 4 or more hours at a jog a couple days a week. That said, don’t begin agility until they are 2 years old because the bones of the legs need to completely mature. Injuries get expensive and finding ways to keep them exercised is near impossible.
    Eyes range from brown to speckled to blue and some lovely shades of amber, green and even sky blue.

    Two incorrect statements. They shed a lot and their eyes have the same colors as regular size Aussies.

    I can't afford to get one. $700-$3,000. People are greedy, so I'm looking for backward puppy mills.

    • @Norinia
      @Norinia Před 9 měsíci

      Don’t do a puppy mill. If for no ethical reasons, Puppy Mills are notorious for selling sick and ill puppies first, so you’ll be stuck with far more medical bills than an average puppy.
