It was enough of a 'fight' that I grabbed both of its antlers while it skinned my forearms and thumbs on the bark of the tree thrashing around, but I kept ahold of it thinking it wouldn't be able to get around. Even in hindsight I like to think I could have bashed its head on the tree or got it to break an antler, but I really couldn't do anything but lean back and hold on while trying to keep my wrists from getting twisted off. Also, if I had done nothing it might have left me alone. I was pretty scratched up but its forehead was bleeding from where it had scraped itself. Managed a couple seconds of tug of war when it tried to rear up and then had to leg go when it kept tugging. It stumbled back but didn't even fall on two legs.
