    Thank you for this review as I know it required a lot of time and effort on your part. As you said, it is up to each individual to weigh the pluses and minuses before making a decision. I am still on the fence; however, since I am a new flyer learning the basics, I am leaning more toward the RS4 because it is almost the same size physically as the SAB 420 and that is important to my aging eyes. I don't mind the tail servo outside as it seems to be a very beefy servo. ThanK you again.🧙‍♂

You can’t go wrong with the RS four. It is a fantastic value for the money and for a new person or may be a first time helicopter builder the ease of the FBL set up takes the guesswork out! Plus parts are much cheaper.

      I get the aging eyes! 🧙‍♂ I opted for the "Lime Green" which to me looks more like yellow for visibility reasons. I agree with every point you made.
    Of course, buying everything separately is at a premium, but like you said, Jeff, you get the ESC, FBL, Battery that you want, and you fly on all your other Heli's, the SAB Goblin 420 mightbefor you. Both are terrific Heli's and if you're getting into the Hobby and have a limited budget, then the GOOSKY RS4 might be the way to get into the Hobby for you!
    Fantastic Video Jeff, great builds, great flights... Cheers, my friend.

      Thank you Larry! I agree, the 420 is definitely my choice but! The simple buy it at one shot as a PNP no need to really set up the FBL unit other than a couple simple steps. So I think for a beginner or first kit build and someone that really doesn’t know much about FBL set up or tuning the RS4 is definitely the way to go! But, if you are a seasoned pilot or somebody that is looking for the next build or to build a model the way you want then 100% the RAW 420.

    Great comparison and nice flight as always. Personally I too gravitate towards the Raw 420. But I'm still waiting to see how the m4 stacks up. I guess it will be closer to the raw in terms of build and it obviously doesn't come with a fbl unit so you're fee to choose. Seeing the design is by Jonas Wackershauser it's probably a very well tought out and capable heli.

    The 420 is a bit bigger and beefier heli. Seems like it's truly built to be in a class just over the S4 and m4. Carries a bigger battery, main shaft etc. imo, the SAB isn't really competing with the s4 or m4. Even if goosky & omp come out with stretch kits, they will be pseudo 420s. Personal choice tho, as both are good. Raw 420 for me.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Před rokem +2

    Hi Jeff, I was re-watching your SAB 420 series and wanted to ask what the difference is between threadlock and retaining compound as you use both. I know threadlock is for screws into metal. Could it be used instead of retaining compound where you used that instead?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Před rokem +1

      Sorry for the delay in response, I just seen this comment. Retaining compound is used for stuff like bearings or any metal to metal surface you don’t want to come apart. Technically speaking you can use heat and get it apart but it is a stronger compound than blue Loctite. But used for bearing and pinions (like press fit) blue loctite is used in 99% of your build on all models.

      So both ways. I run Flat throttle curves. But you have Idle up mode “Stunt” mode. In those modes it holds your throttle at a flat line percentage whatever you send it to and gives you a linear collective movement so when you are doing 3-D your motor stays at a consistent RPM and you just move the collective up and down for positive and negative.

    • @Lance57H
      @Lance57H Před rokem +1

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 that's what I was kind of figuring, is there any instances where I would want a linear throttle curve? That's how I kind of set up my M2 Evo but I might consider changing it to a more flat line throttle curve and just keep it at a more consistent RPM. Unless it's in normal mode so I can control when the blades start up using the throttle stick. If you get a chance can you make a video about your set up on your simulator as well. I read through your comments and I noticed that you use the simulator to really refine your skills and I would personally be interested in seeing your setup on it. Thanks again for all your help and your great videos!

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  Před rokem

      @@Lance57H you don’t want a linear throttle curve, the main reason is because you will be consistently changing the head speed which consistently affects the keto. So as you go up and down from 0 to 100 the head speed raises and drops as you move your throttle/collective stick. So in normal mode I set a 0-50-50-50-50 then Idle 1 70-70-70-70-70 and Idle 2 100-100-100-100-100. If you watch my M2 EVO set up video I explain my radio settings. Having a zero on normal mode allows you to still use your throttle to control the motor off and on when you’re at zero but it gives you a consistent head speed throughout the cyclic range so it’s not raising and dropping. Yes, I still practice with a simulator as much as I can. I don’t think you can ever be too good for the simulator. Anytime I want to practice something new or put some kind of flying routine together I get on the simulator and try. I tried to aim for about 30 minutes of simulator time a day. But it doesn’t always work that way LOL I can try and do a video on simulators set up and what I do. Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy the videos and I hope you continue to learn from them!

      So the RAW 420 is definitely a less part count and easier to build model. But! The FBL setup on the RS4 is super simple. The no soldering is also very nice on the RS4 and simple plug everything in and go. Parts will be cheaper on the RS4 vs the RAW 420. Luckily you have a step-by-step build videos from me to help you along the way of your build on which ever model you choose. The RS four has auto level right out of the box.
