Thanks Nancy. Every time I read of a new study, I get dubious and have to take it with a grain of salt.

I'm pre diabetic and my doctor mentioned putting me on metformin for weight loss but you mentioned it's for diabetics and not for just weight loss. I don't know how I came across this video but I'm thinking it was meant for me to see, thank you for this information ❤️

Thanks for watching. Metformin is a type 2 Diabetic drug that is used to try and level you blood sugars or your A1C. You will maybe lose a minimum amount of weight but it may not happen. However, Metformin, if it manages your A1C, will help you stay as healthy as you can. You should get your A1C bloodwork done every 3 or 4 months and depending on your age, it should read 6 to 7. That's what you and your doctor will have to keep tabs on. Good luck and stay well!

But Prena, I may have misspoke. If you are young, your target A1C could be in the 5's. I'm 73 and my target A1C is 7.00. You don't want to be higher then that but you also don't want your blood sugars to be too low which is very dangerous. Talk to your doctor about what your target A1C should be.

Metformin is great for prediabetes and often perscribed to reduce blood sugar and ger back to normal. Your blood sugar is causing the weight issues, fix blood sugar. Weight will come back in line.

@@travelsinmychair4140blood sugars that are 6-7 are very high. If above 7 aim for an a1c of 6 but ultimately get under 5.5. Higher values cause damage. Even a type 1 diabetic can have normal blood sugars.

Thanks for another insightful and informative video, Denise. Although I'm in a regular routine of seeing various doctors, my issues are all very mild, thus far. I'm currently looking forward to two cataract surgeries that I have scheduled two weeks apart. It might be strange to say that I am looking forward to them, but the replacement lenses I've chosen are ones that should give me almost perfect vision at all ranges ... which usually results in the patient no longer needed any glasses. That will be a welcome change. Looking forward to your next topic.

thanks Ann. Good luck on your cataract surgeries. My Ophthalmologist wants me to get my eyes done but I have such a phobia of containment and tight spaces, he's allowing me to wait a bit longer.

@@travelsinmychair4140 I'll let you know how mine work out. The first one isn't until the end of the month. Apparently, I will be getting IV sedation. Right now, I'm sitting on a recliner with my laptop on the arm, a cup of coffee on the table next to me and a little 6-pound dog curled up and sleeping on my lap. It doesn't get much better than that. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead, Denise.

A busy week ahead and next Monday I go to Vancouver to see the Oncologist. New tiny tumors we need to keep on top of. I spent yesterday exactly like you. Recliner, laptop and 15 pounds of Roxie cuddling. I love Sundays!
