Thanks for watching!
Still my all-time favorite plane. Had the original fun cub and the fun Cub XL still have them both to this day. They'll always be a part of my fleet. Just brought back so many memories watching this video.
I know it's an old video but thanks for what you guys do.
You all look like you're always having so much fun in these videos. Dream job all the way!
Keep it up, Flite Test guys. I really enjoy watching you guys. Always valuable information, tips and tricks. Regarding some of the not so nice postings below: Every organization goes thru ups and downs, caused by circumstances often beyond control. Your program, videos, vision and mission, keeping the affordable in mind, is just great. A very commendable effort! I am with you all the way!
Herman- Thanks so much for the kind words! Your support and insight are so valuable to us! Happy flying!
S.O.
I love it when flite test reviews these kind of models outside of their own store inventory!
I am 14 years old in Washington state and Flite test is the thing that got me into the hobby my first and only plane I have currently is a sport cub s and it was because of your review my first flight was amazing my mom could have sworn that I have been flying for over a year I have goals of being an areonotical engineer , thank you
Jalen - Thanks so much for sharing your story! Because of people like you we exist and are able to do what we do! Thanks so much for your support and keep on flying and reaching for the stars!! Good luck and God bless!
S.O.
Love the first timer landings! that feeling of success was such a rush for me! Great Job and SKY IS THE LIMIT!!!
I love that youre doing a review again its great! What would be cool to see is different types of building methods a great one is to Foamcut (with a bow and if you have one with a cnc foamcutter) the Wings fuselage or whatever and then to cover them in wood and then to cover them in Glassfiber and if you want to make molds you just have to take the now built things and cover one half then the other half in glassfiber and then use that as a Mold its a really handy way of making superb huge 1:3 rc planes.
I maidened mine this weekend, I built it from a kit and went 6s, Essentially there are two ways to set this up: 4s light with decent power, or go nuts on 6s and have fun with it. It's overly heavy due to some over looked over engineering on Multiplex's side. But still flys amazing in the air. It does not land gentle the comments at the end of the video are valid about glide slope but this plane turns into a rock with the throttle off. 6 landings in and I could not get it to glide in well without a lot of power, I believe this might be a decalage issue as everybody seems to need up elevator for level flight. The up elevator is what is likely causing the stalling you see while landing, as soon as you are a few inches off the ground if you cut back the throttle the nose drops then you compensate and drop a wing. This will be an amazing plane once I get it dialed in, had lots of fun with it even just being easy on it. Highly recommended. You can see my specs and link to the already long thread on this plane here:

Super awesome video. I really like the reviews. You give a lot of info on fling.
good flying and nice landing! Multiplex planes are all top level. Looks like a great platform for some fpv bush flying!
woow, realllllly enjoyed this episode Greetings from Australia, Peter nice flying , knife edge full circle very impressive , Josh nice aerobatics, floorless as usual, good to see newbie giving it a good go, just like Josh Scott was, been a fan for a long time, keep up the good work guys...
Love the Channel am a flyer mostly self tough just never get time to fly keep up the good work
your reviews are the best
Keep it up FT you guys are well on your way to 500,000 subs :)
Really love the multiplex connectors! Use them alot .
Cool review guys I own the first Funcub it hovers nicely! Would love to see you guys review the Multiplex RockStar Bipe someday?
Awesome plane.. Think I might get one. You guys are awesome...
1:10 The manual has a picture part! (You can find it in the middle of the manual)
I like it. Something to remember for the future.
Few point here
1.when you get the box do make sure to take the parts bag which is hidden inside the foam
2. I used a prop drive 4250 500 kv and 4s 3300 and with the battery way back it was still nose heavy so please do check CG.
3.I have currently setup an fsd motor 4250 710 kv 14X7 4s as I dont want to use 6s as i do normal flying
Peter is a great addition to the team, very knowledgeable with a hint of mischeif !! Good review guys.
i think itd be really cool if u guys build a real working small scale (or large scale) version of the helicopter desiged by leonardo de vinci with the corkscrew rotor and all. im not sure if it would actually fly or be possible to control while in the air due to the lack of control surfaces on the copter itself, so maybe even go a step further and make a quadcopter with the same rotors and use differential thrust to make the whole thing work
May I ask... which of the RC PLANE and QUAD-COPTER Fast Drain of the Battery while in the AIR?
I am curious
Nice flying, and a nice airplane. Definitely outside my price range for a foamie, though. Since everyone else is jumping in with show suggestions, here's mine: pylon racing and/or hotliners. And by that I mean the real thing, the composite models with better than 1000 W. Do a search for the Stratair Hurricane E 8s to get an idea of what I'm talking about (that's 7 kW of peak power). Also, the Sunracer is a very affordable (and FAST) pylon racer, for what it's worth.
In the last few minutes of this vid was a great description of the GEV (Groung Effect Vehicle). How's that for a challenge? Love all that you all guys do, keep up the amazing and inspiring vids.
Hello, Can you make a video where you build FunCub XL, I have bought a FunCub XL and I have been looking for a video in which you build a plan like that but it is not.
I love my Multiplex Pilatus PC6! You guys should try one
ohhh Ive had my eye on this model this should be fun!
Nice video, a buddy of mine has this and I have the FMS super EZ and they feel almost identical to eachother except the superEZ is a good half meter smaller but it holds it's own speed wise and in terms of agility and stability, how similar they are made it real easy to fly formation haha.
PS. Still want to see a Heli video where the helicopter works haha.
can you do a video where you show how to mix the flaps and stuff like that out off the Box?
hi i have a drone with wifi i can but my phone on a thing of the controller is there a cheep way i could be able to use a head set to see what the drone is seeing
Love your reviews! Do you think you could review some of the newer Horizon Hobby UMX planes?
Love your reviews, you should try out like a 44" slick 580. I would love to see y'all review that plane.
From 3DHS
Would love to try this plane, I have the original but I just have to get around that price!
Hey guys great job on this episode again! Love you guys! Btw Peter is so small hahaha can i have the plans for the shinden? I want to build one!
Can you please do the ParkZone Extra 300??? I bought it today and didn't get to fly it yet.
I have only been flying or trying to fly for a month now. I have always been interested in flying & had bought a Sport Cub S with S.A.F.E. I have lost 2 of them within a month. First-one was do to wind & S.A.F.E. The second-one i lost, their was no wind. But, i noticed in beginner, S.A.F.E. Mode it is hard to bring the Plane back to myself & get the plane to land.
That looked like great fun...
Yesterday was the first time I ever flew a remote control plane and it was the 3ch radian. After its 3rd flight it was no longer in one piece after hitting a sign. I can fly a quadcopter pretty well but not a plane. I need a smaller slower model that is modular and easy to repair if I'm going to learn how to fly. Just wanted to share my experience. I put my radian together and it might actually fly again lol
Can you review a Parkzone Focke Wulf -190A
can you review the Hype Relax II i like it. Or the Multiplex Mentor
do you need a filter for the quantum camera off the power supply
Beautifully done #1
looks like a really really good plane!
Multiplex design are a cut above. The mold, the foam, it's all so good. The foam is so much denser than your typical HK plane. If this is too expensive, then just get the Fun Cub, which is ~$100 w/o the electronics. Excellent planes from Multiplex.
Un saludo muy grande para todos desde Buenos Aires 😃👌👍👍.
Could you guys do a comparison between petrol (gas) and electric RC planes?
hey guys, really love your videos.. been following for about a year. hey - where do you find the FunCub XL? are they a unicorn? unable to find anywhere online it seems.
Just checked with my prefered RC-Dealer, 379,- euro plus shipping. Bit hefty Price-Tag but usually the build Quality of Multiplex is worth it. And there 2x 3000mAh 3cell LiPo, the Tow and the Dropbox already included which makes a pretty decent Deal
So, i also bought a Champ & did a little better at flying. But, crashed & need a new prop-shaft, Do you guys think, i should invest in a Dx6i or Dx6? Will that help me? Also, i was thinking about getting a J-3 Cub. The 3.30 ounce, i think? Do you guys think getting a heavier plane, will help-me??? Thank-you.
more expensive but much more than others; it flies the ways we want, even 3D or in STOL mode; excellent!
show, adoro esse modelo, lindo aero brodher...
can you review the Brave Night Flyer BNF Basic
Too bad I don't have a big field. How about a fun cub mini or perhaps Mighty Mini Bushwacker?
Just go with the normal 'old' funcub. If you can fly you don´t need a big field. BTW. I like the old funcub better for aerobatics. The new one feels too heavy for hard flying
Nice video!!!
The german MPX connectors should be saved. They can be used to route and organize Servos. David Windestal does a video on this.
I love my Fun Cub.
Would this be cool with a POV set?
Neat plane.
Your channel is very interesting!! I m a big fan
Thanks so much for your support Petrus Da! We are happy you are enjoying it!
Blessings,
S.O.
+FliteTest Thanks maybe you can make a give away for your 500k special! Would be great
Oh I hope they make floats for this... how awesome would that be!!!!
In Austria/Germany actually a lot of people use those connectors!
Awesome :) That looks realy good man.. Now I want one even more :P
when/if you do, I would love to hear your comments on it compared to the competitors like the durafly tundra
Will do sir :) It IS a big lump of $$ though :P
+DutchRC Adventures you could do a cub shoot out. Sport cub, tundra fun cub
That's a nice airplane. I am surprised that you let the new pilot land, but not take off. Taking off is a lot easier than landing.
this or e-flite Timber? which is easier to build, better flying, cheaper?
the miniguinea is an easy example... i fly lots of gliders and planes with large wings .. wich usually you can shut off the motor on final and just flare ...
with the miniguinea it kept droping like a rock and landing quite hard no mather how i tried to flare.. then i found out rather embarransing that if i kept a bit of throttle on it would aproach much slower and softer and flare way easier..
Its ironic since my similar sized CL-415 does dead stick landings and flares dead easy
how much kV is used here
and the prop
Why is there a lipo battery hanging on the back of the transmiter? Sorry if thats a noob question... lol
i think because he use a FPV monitor somtimes... or its a second lipo for the fun cup.
sorry vor my englisch
Nice plane!
this looks like a fun plane
When are you going to review the Durafly Tundra?
Also, FYI, there is a kit version which is more reasonable, I probably spent a little over $300 on my build. ( I actually didn't spend that much because I had almost everything for it)
so, what your'e sayin is that this costs one hundred times more than the storch?
What's with the lipo battery on the transmitter? I've seen it on a few of your videos...
It has more mAh than the battery in the transmitter, so the running time will be longer
Great review on the FuncCub.......a bit pricey.........another good choice would also be the new HH E-Flight Timber - 1555mm wingspan ....... it has it all, flaps, lights, floats,BNF model for $249.........maybe do a review on it.
We were looking at that one too. Thanks for the tip. -Austin
I miss landing on tarmac... I only own a seaplane at the moment
where is the bomb drop feature?
Have you guys ever done the supe cub
I'm still trying to work out how it took off with full flap? or should I say despite full flap. (whats stuck on Steffens sun glasses???)
With flaps down the airplane has more lift in the wings as well as less efficient movement of air over and under the wing. That's why it jumped up so fast.
Full flap like this is purely drag. Beyond 30 degrees most aerofoils will loose the boundary layer and become stalled. This bird has such a high power to weight ratio it still drags itself into the air. Try this on a real aircraft and you will be heading for the fence at the end of the runway!!
HAHA My sunglasses actually had a small "BIRD" logo on the front of the left lens...i have since scratched it off because it is quite awkward! ;)
Blessings,
S.O.
@@Markcool2011 Not at 90 degrees. At this position it's just an immense brake AND lift killer! In take-off position you are absolutely right. Certainly with the slotted flaps! I tried landing mine with full flaps. It needed a lot of power or I had to put the nose 60 degrees or more down. It just becomes a rock with full flaps. Greetz from Belgium.
Noone beats multiplex!..best rc company ever!!
Josh Bixler was right, this looks like a mashup. It does resemble a Carbon Cub
You guys should do a top gear style episode!
thanks!
I take apart almost all my planes for transport it's not a problem once you get used to it. And when you take apart the planes you can fit more in you car.
The price is a killer, for that money there are some really nice high wing planes out there.
your vids r the best +_+
do you guys prefer electric over fuel? I'm thinking of getting into model flyible aircraft and I have no idea about any of this stuff and this channel seems pretty awesome so advice would be great! much respect to this channel keep up the entertainment!
you should make a guinnea pig xl with a 80 or 90 inch wingspan and 4 engines
I second this
do it
I third this - do it for Flite Fest
call it the guinea hog or the guinea boar.
i know someone who is going to make a 20 foot guinea, just dont know when it will be started on.
Can you guys do another warbird please
intro on nitro planes?
OMG i was seriously thinking about this... MPX kits are expensive af tho
That does look really cool =0) ooh is there an FT cub? maybe the Bushwaker is the closest.
what transmitter is that
You should review the Crashtesthobbys Assasin.
nice plane i think i want one as an arf but doesn't seem to be available in the US yet?
www.weekenderwarehouse.com/funcub-xl-kit/ - Here is a link to the KIT version...they also have a Receiver Ready version also.
Blessings,
S.O.
+FliteTest thanks for the link, though I'll stick with the kit so I can use my spektrum gear and use a overpowered motor, like my STOL planes aggressive.
Good landing!
Oh man, normaly there are pictures in the instructions. I bought an old easycub and first i wonder why there are no pictures, just text in different language. Some days later my doughter look at the instruction and says nice building pictures...and yes you find them in the instruction normaly the pictures are in thge middle of the instruction.
Maybe there is a different instruction here in germany/europe.
Here on the first side stands: Illustrations side 31-42.
If you need a link to the Instructions file (PDF-format) just tell.
And the LEDs came with a controll box (and you can put it in other planes with a wingspan from 1300 mm)
And:
The following functions can be switched from the RC system transmitter.1. Everything OFF
2. Navigation lights and anti-collision light ON3. Navigation lights, anti-collision light and landing light ON
All functions are permanently ON if the system is connected directly to a power source.
And yes, these lights cost (in germany) 55, 90 Euros.
I wish these are build in from the start too.
Greetings from Germany.
P.S. Yes the price hurts a bit, but the quality is good.
You forgot the drop box and it can tow sailplanes (needs an extra servo)
There actually are pictures, I actually did the opposite, I saw the pictures and thought "well where is the text?" Pictures are in the middle, they cover for all languages and you just need to look up the section for your language.
Quality of the frame is good. Servo's and servo extensions are garbage.
Nice landing Stephen (sorry if spelled wrong).
Stefan
+jedi22300 thanks :)
hi I LIKE THE TRAINERS,CUB, DOBLE WING.
Reminds me of the Tundra.
i noticed that the wing have ribs , is it balsa or foam ?!
Ibrahim Abubkr It has a full foam wing with carbon reinforcements. The ribs are just for a more scale look
FliteTest build a solar plane!
