  • In this video, I troubleshoot my Maytag gas dryer not producing any heat. I explain how to disassemble the Maytag dryer, locate the heating mechanics and what parts I replaced.

    Great video. All the parts he tested are most of the normal 5 or 6 parts that typically break on almost all makes and models of a standard gas dryer. Take note of the igniter turning white hot. They will sometimes still glow when they are actually broken. The white hot glow as opposed to a lesser reddish glow is necessary for the igniter to complete the cycle in order for the gas valve to open.

    Helpful additional tips besides the one below: 1.You will need something to hold open/support that top lid while it is up. 2.Be careful of sharp edges on all of the metal panels. I cut myself a couple of times. 3. By moving the dryer around with a ridge copper connector like this one you are taking a chance of disrupting the gas connection which could cause a gas leak. I suggest you at least try to tighten the connections before putting back in place. The best scenario is to have a modern flexible gas connector. 4.

    Thanks for the full diagnostic, now I know how to get at my felt seal! I see that your dry has black/carbon on the hot air supply grill. Seems odd, our machine is about a year old and I was wondering about it. I don't know what tugged my felt out but it didn't tear so I can remount it.

    I'm having an issue with my Maytag but the igniter is working but won't fire up. I glows for 30 seconds then faded but the gas won't kick. It's not a supply problem. What could it be?

    great video the only thing u did not do that u should do next time is open the piece where blower motor sits in especially if u already took lint screen screws out there are 4 more screws and in that metal duct its usally full of dirt lint and sand witch can cause over heating because blower wont pull out air this will also cause thermal fuse to blow How do I know I did the same thing and blew new fuse when i opened up duct it was loaded with heavy dirt and blower blades were also full of dirt Thanks again great video

    • @efd
      @efd  Před 2 lety

      hmmm, if you 100% have gas and power, then i would test the igniter. If its good, it could be an issue with the gas valve.

  • @csoto23
    @csoto23 Před 10 měsíci

    My dryer only heats on the timer setting. On auto the flame never turns on. Do you think it's the same sensors?

    • @efd
      @efd  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That sounds like the sensor in the dryer, when you look in there are 2 metal strips. Clean those, if they have a build up of gunk on them, it won’t read the moisture

  • @JAM-vu3ol

    Mine has fire on for about 5 minutes, than fire shut off completely. So the problem is on the coils ? Thanks

    • @efd
      @efd  Před 2 lety

      It could be one of the sensors when it gets hot, best to test them all.
